Nintendo Switch 2

We have more news about the launch of Nintendo Switch 2 in the United States with the system setting a new record for the gaming industry.

For the week ending June 7, 2025, the new console sold over 1.1 million units. That’s more than any other system has managed to do in the U.S. previously, and that’s without counting sales from the My Nintendo Store. PlayStation 4 previously held the record.

Cyberpunk looks pretty decent on Switch 2 to me. I know it's missing a lot of graphical effects and stuff compared to other versions but I still think it is a good looking game. Performance mode on the handheld screen is pretty good. I agree with digital foundry that it's best to use quality mode on the TV though as the frame rate is all over the place and there's no variable refresh rate when docked.

If anyone with an oled TV is having trouble setting their hdr up to look good this video might be some help, although it is still quite confusing, lol.

I have went back to BOTW to finish it off, I never finished all the shrines and still have some dlc to do. The upgrades with hdr and better frame rate and textures make the game look great.

From what I’ve just seen this looks absolutely incredible and it seems to have a great and emotional story aswell. I suspect it will be a Game Of The Year contender (although it will be hard to beat expedition 33) and I’ll buy it day one.

Young Pauline reminds me of Tiny Kong from DK64!

It seems that Nintendo has put out a sales update to the Nintendo Switch 2 to its investor relations website early by accident, revealing that the console sold over 5 million units worldwide from June 5 to June 30, 2025.

The update, which has been withdrawn as of 7pm Tokyo time, showed that the Nintendo Switch 2 sold 5 million units in its first 26 days on the market. Here’s the regional breakdown:
  • Americas: 1.8 million units
  • Japan: 1.47 million units
  • Europe: 1.18 million units
  • Other: 550,000 units
This remarkable achievement has, of course, shattered records. It took 26 days for Nintendo Switch 2 to sell 5 million units, 2.5 months for the PS5 (sold 3.4 million in its first month), and 4 months for Nintendo Switch (sold 2.74 million in its first month).

Went back to play Odyssey on Switch 2 and it holds up remarkably well in the visuals department when the free resolution patch is applied. Great game.

Donkey Kong and Pauline are swinging onto Nintendo Switch 2 in a brand-new, 3D platforming action adventure! Join them as they run, jump, and climb through each environment and smash through almost any obstacle in their way. Get ready to chase down the nefarious Void Company and recover the Golden Bananas!

Donkey Kong Bananza was started for Switch 1, it would have been 30fps, have less impressive graphics and featured much less interaction with environment. Another game that they decided to move over and it benefited from it.

More details and some early dev footage and screenshots in the articles below.

Takahashi noted in the interview:
“There’s a lot of leeway in terms of progression in this game. For example, locations or parts of the story you can skip without suffering any consequences. When the game progresses in a way we hadn’t intended, we call it a “sequence break” in development terminology. Typically, in game development, restrictions are put in place to prevent this from happening, but since this game is all about destruction, we wanted people to play freely. Truth be told, restrictions make things a lot easier for us developers. (Laughs) But please do experiment.”
