I love it too, I don’t really mind the melodyne on this one.I love it, even in its unfinished state. Just beautiful. I do wish he pulled back a bit on the Melodyne though; it’s way too robotic, though maybe that’s just because we’re so accustomed to hearing his voice in its natural state.
Agreed with the melodyne and/or autotune. Seems like few of his later years vocals were processed like this even by default? On top of my head, I recall BOJ, IAAL, Remember, HMH (very litte). Probably a few more, but the amount isn't that big. It's mostly in demos as wellI love it, even in its unfinished state. Just beautiful. I re-listened to it and you’re right, it isn’t as intense as my initial impression. “I Was the Loser” is a worse offender there lolI love it too, I don’t really mind the melodyne on this one.
Yeah that one has it much moreI re-listened to it and you’re right, it isn’t as intense as my initial impression. “I Was the Loser” is a worse offender there lol
Could you please explain to me how you can hear Melodyne in RWITY? I don't know what to listen for.I re-listened to it and you’re right, it isn’t as intense as my initial impression. “I Was the Loser” is a worse offender there lol
Sure! I’m far from an expert, and it’s more subtle on this track than I initially thought, but when you listen to MJ’s vibrato at the end of each line, there’s a very, very slight digital 8-bit effect. It’s most audible at the end of the first line: “And remember what I told youuuuuuu…”Could you please explain to me how you can hear Melodyne in RWITY? I don't know what to listen for.
I'm definitely not surprised that MJ was messing around with it. It was being used quite a lot by that point. But that's what MJ liked to do, to push it sonically. So maybe this was a choice by michael or it could be a producer thinking, "everyone is getting used to processed vocals, if they hear unprocessed vocals would they be put off?"
