It is common knowledge that Michael took an interest in the album mixes of his songs and did not like remixes. My question is who was responsible for the singles mixes of his songs. Does anyone know when these done? Im especially interested as some singles mixes have replaced the orginal mixes on his albums.

Sometimes there's virtually no difference. It's not a different mix, it's just that the intro riff is repeated 4 times instead of 8.

I actually have a big interest in actual remixes that sound very different to the album version - it gives you a reason to own the CD single.

Do you have any favourites?

Another Part Of Me comes to mind, a few different versions of the song have been released.

I guess mostly the Dangerous stuff. Around 3-4 years ago, I went back and filled in a couple of holes in my collection, Jam, Who Is It, etc.

Also, there was a thread about it:

Give In To Me vocal mix is a different mix - the keys are almost completely muted in the chorus.

The single version of TDCAU is a good one. I prefer the single mixes of all the Bad songs that were replaced on the album. In The Closet is another single mix I like, with the video sounds.

Earth Song has the worst one. Massacred.

I also enjoy the bad singles quite a lot more than the original cuts, just wish most of them didn't make MJ sound like a chipmunk lol
I don't remember ITC having a single mix that contained elements from the video... could you please link it?

I'm sure that TDCAU' single had a few single mixes? I'm sure there was one version that had the choir in every chorus instead of just the ending?

Also, the 'In the closet' single version was awesome, I wasn't as keen on the 'Remember the time' single version.

It's basically a few sound effects found at the end of the music video added to the intro.

My question is who was responsible for the singles mixes of his songs.

Since no one is actually answering the question (or I missed it reading too fast) ... my guess was always that it was Bruce Swedien (but I'm not sure about that at all and I think at some points there were several "teams" working on songs) ... but also that some single mix could simply be alternate mixes from the album sessions or made for videos.

I find that version interesting... ITC is good as it is on Dangerous, but sometimes songs on Dangerous feel very long...
The end of WYWTOM feels to me like it gets from a song to remix towards the ends.

Tangent question would be: Would was responsible for cutting some intro from song from Music And Me! And why? (They were not necessarily singles though.)
