After like 14 years of audio snippets, we finally got the full song on March 30th, 2024. It's really damn good! I, personally, liked the fan made opening, so I attached it to the actual song. Let me know what you guys think of the full GYWOOM song, and if you don't like it, then please tell me why! I'm curious to know.

(I know there is a lot of GYWOOM threads, but "I can't help it if I wanted to! I wouldn't help it even if I could." Hehe, lol.)

(Possibly) an unpopular opinion, but I never really liked GYWOOM at all. I've rarely ever listened to it voluntarily. I thought it was mid in the original 20-second snippet. I still think it's mid after listening to the full song. It's not a particularly special song to me (both sonically and lyrically) and I never really understood the high anticipation for it.

I also thought the percussion in the track was way too harsh and unbearable to listen to before the HQ version came out, even for a Rodney Jerkins production, and it kind of spoiled the song for me. But even in the HQ version, I'm not the biggest fan of the instrumental.

All in all, I just never cared for the song at all. I still don't. Although Privacy is similar, I actually prefer Privacy over GYWOOM.

Both Privacy and GYWOOM leaves me feeling cold, they bring very little to the table. I want to feel good listening to songs and they're just too mechanical , overproduced pieces of mush.

I like the vocals on GYWOOM but that's about it. Both songs are run of the mill, there's no classic Michael here.

Exactly. I actually even once joked that GYWOOM sounds like it was made with AI because of how overproduced it sounds. 💀

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Rodney Jerkin's production sound, especially on songs Heartbreaker and It's Not Worth It by Brandy. The sounds are very unique and distinctive with many sounds incorporated and evoke the feel of the early 2000s, and it's not a jarring listening experience. GYWOOM, however... It's different. In the original, lower quality version of the GYWOOM leak, the song is literally unbearable to listen to because there is just too much sound.

Although I like Privacy, I can also understand why one would have these criticisms for that song as well. Also imo, GYWOOM and Privacy are also a little too slow-paced for their own good. Maybe if they were a little bit faster, they wouldn't be derided as much.

Cool song but it wouldn't have brought much to the table if it was included on Invincible

It sounds a million times better when it's speeded up.

Other than that....is just a song.

Privacy is better.
but GYWOOM is still amazing, since it sounds so Invincible. It's like a lost hidden track.

I love the chorus, it'd be nice to have a remix adding the chorus to Privacy.

sorry I'm not able to find a working link for downloading the song. can someone post it please?

It's a boring and repetitive song. I used to think that the song was mediocre when the snippets were leaking but now that it has leaked in full I think the song is just bad. All the hype was for nothing.

I do think that the edited version improved the song a bit though, so it makes me wonder how the song would sound like with a remix in the style of Xscape and how much it would benefit from it.

Exactly. There's just nothing progressive about GYWOOM whatsoever.

I've always been tempted to say "I don't understand the hype" while the hype was going on, but didn't for fear of potential backlash by those who defended GYWOOM like their life depended on it. 💀 But now, I understand better the value of having your own opinion and not just trying to blend in with everyone else.

Is this the worst lyrical part in MJs history? It matches up so badly with the music and sounds so off. You could pretty much replace the words with any sentence and it would be just as terrible :D

[Pre-Chorus]
I'll get a message to you
You know I'll never stop tryin', baby
This will get by, baby, see?
You got a lesson to learn
You only get what you earn (No, no, no)
I got this game (No, no, no, no)
And I have to go my way alone, baby (Come on) (Why'd you do it, baby?)

I dont care much for this song.
Also sound quality is not that good, hearing with headphones gives me a headache.

Incredibly mid song. I've thought that since we had more of the song through snippets. It plods along and doesn't go anywhere exciting or interesting. Can see why it wasn't chosen as I think pretty much every song that made the album is better.

I have to repeat the post I wrote about, how the hell did MJ approve of this? Its an absolute disaster, it does not rhyme or fit in at all with the music!

Really?? Lol this, and his soulful vocals in generally make me really like this track. It's definitely not great, the chorus is very boring but I still like it more than Privacy and most songs on invincible because of his voice on it.

So why do you all think he chose Privacy over CGYWOOM? Is it because he wanted an anti-paparazzi song on every album? Or because there is a reference to Princess Diana? (although she did not die on a 'cold winter night') Or was it just more finished..?

The song is okay... regardless of whether you like or dislike it, at least we got to see a glimpse of the creative process that went into the album

Really it's just that it's slower than an MJ uptempo usually is, and longer. If it was cut in half id wager it'd be easier to get into.

It's curious what makes a song like this fall flat, while Xscape is, really not very different in my estimate, and yet people think that song is a total masterpiece.

The tempo of Xscape definitely does strengthen it a lot in comparison.

Also, it's pretty interesting, the first Invincible outtake released in 2002, here's basically the last one more than 20 years later.

Because MJ does not sing the word "baby" 33 times in Xscape? ;)
