I went to the doctor last week and had to go back today. When I was in the waiting room, they(on the Health Accents show with Dr. Sanjay Gupta)started out this informative talk on TV saying that we all probably heard a line from a Michael Jackson song "Annie are you okay". They referred to that line to talk about doing correct CPR and that 911 should be called RIGHT AWAY when the person calling it sees someone unconscious. Then they showed how to do CPR. I have never heard this before June. June(before 25th) was the last time I was in the doctor's office and I wait in the waiting room for quite some time usually, and I have never heard that before last week. Is it me, or does anyone else think it's strange that they start talking about doing correct CPR and calling 911 right away with a line from one of Michael's songs?
I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

They always do that, I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that's where MJ got the lyrics from.

I'm not sure if your question is about "annie are u okay?" or that they were playing Michael's song.

For years and years now, while training for and being tested for CPR certification, the person approaches the "dummy" and gently shakes the dummy while asking "annie, are you okay?". It was part of the training long before Michael used that phrase in his song.

Hope that answers your question? Or are you wondering if we've seen this song being used on shows while discussing CPR?

(The training mannikin was literally named "resusci-ann", can't remember the exact spelling)

OH! I nevre realized that the line was used for the training. It still doesn't change that I've never heard it before June on the TV of the doctors office in the waiting room. Does that make sense?

I've never heard it in relation to Michael's song but like bgz, I remember the dummy being named annie for years. However, a lot of references to Michael or his music come up now in the strangest of places, if it can be referenced to him in any way, they will put it there to garner extra attention....with a stroke of hope though, maybe the reference to Mike's song will make the importance of it stick in someone's head.

I had to take CPR in high school and I had Smooth Criminal constantly stuck in my head. Lol
