Dear Madam/Sir,
Recently we were informed that your channel is going to air Martin Bashir’s documentary “Living with Michael Jackson” as a tribute to the late megastar and humanitarian.
We want to inform you on the contents of this documentary and its consequences. This highly insulting documentary gave a distorted picture of Michael Jackson and was responsible for the allegations and trial that followed in the years 2003-2005. Although Michael was found not guilty on all charges, Mr. Bashir’s documentary traumatized his sensitive soul to a point beyond return and led him to an isolated and reclusive life, which ultimately resulted to his untimely death.

The media has taken every opportunity to belittle and torment Michael Jackson during his life. Just because someone is a celebrity, does not make it acceptable to spread lies or to allow the disrespectful treatment to continue after they are gone. As you understand, the airing of this documentary would be highly insulting and disrespectful to a man that shared his extraordinary talent and charitable works with the entire humanity for decades.

Therefore we kindly, yet urgently, request you to refrain from airing this documentary.

Worthy alternatives that are unbiased and give a much better understanding of who Michael Jackson really was and will guarantee you a much higher viewership are listed below:
- "The Untold Story of Neverland" by Larry Nimmer. For more details please see www.nimmer.net
- Michael Jackson - Legend
- Or you could air "Moonwalker" or "The Wiz" the two movies which he starred.

We thank you for reading this letter and for doing the right thing in honoring Michael Jackson.

Kind Regards,

Thank you very much. Much love to you. I sent them an email 2 days ago, stating almost the same thing and mentioning Larry Nimmers, "The Untold Story of Neverland".
I wish more people would do so, but then again, I dont think many of the fans who log in gets to see these threads coz of the password requirement.

L.O.V.E. to you all, stay strong this month!

I just wanted to let you all know that we, as the media advocacy team, are researching this documentary. We want to know what it will be about and which TV channels will air it so that we may target them with a letter, if the content of the documentary proves to be bad and far from the truth. It is not enough that it is a documentary made by someone, Halperin, who wrote a book full of lies. We need facts that we can refute with the correct facts.

Thus far I read that this documentary will focus on the events surrounding his death. There will be interviews with his personal manager, hairstylist, chef, spiritual advisor and bodyguard. Unfortunately Brian Oxman will be interviewed as well.

For more details please see the link here:

We will keep you posted on actions taken.

Love,

Sadly, everything points to the direction that the film follows the traces of the book.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gone_Too_Soon_(documentary)

Again, Michael will be portrayed in an untruthful and twisted manner.
Unfortunately, the answers to our speculations will come at a marginal point when damage will be already done.
I believe we will need to address all these channels in a polite but firm manner in order to counterargue all the unrespectful inaccuracies.

On the Swedish fan forum, Mjj.se, this was posted on the thread. A reply someone received from the Swedish channel.

well...at least we were heard!

"Dear Fans of Michael Jackson

SVT has received many emails from people who do not want us to broadcast Ian Halperin’s Michael Jackson documentary ”Gone too Soon”.

I understand that you are huge fans but you should not be concerned by the content of the Documentary.

The film is a long tribute to the artist. The film/Ian Halperin says that Mr Jackson not is a pedophile, is killed by the greed surrounding him and finally and perhaps most important the documentary claims that he was the greatest artist ever. When watching all the 88 minutes you realize Michael was very loved and a that he was great a dad. You also realize that the pressure on him was enormous and what probably killed him was that so many wanted to make money out of him.

Best regards
Mikael Österby
Head of Factual Acquisitions

Has anyone actually seen Halperin's documentary?
From a german channel I e-mailed they assured me it was going to be "surprisingly respectful", but of course I didn't trust them.
Could we have some comments, as I suspect it will be airing every year on Mike's passing anniversary?
