The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Yeah that's the same impression I had too mate. Mike looked taken aback when the guy mentioned it to him, doesn't MJ even say "how do you know about Michael McKeller"
The way I took it was as if to say I've only just written that
Yeah, he seems surprised that they even knew it existed

Honestly, the stuff that came out of the Jeffre Philips lawsuit is some of the most fascinating info I've seen in a while.

What's really blown me away is how many Audio CD-Rs have made their way back to the estate: A mix dated May 09 of Ghost Of Another Lover, TYLA, Breath, and even some songs we know almost nothing about, like Love Heals, Dancing For Love, Heaven With A Smile, You Were There, and more.

Who knows if any of these have vocals or if they're just instrumental ideas.
So is there hope, that there is a more complete version than that leaked seminar recording of „ G O A L „ ???

Has "On The Line" ever had a year definitively pinned down ? I've seen some sources say 1995, Ultimate Collection says July 1996 (may or may not be accurate).

Goes without saying, that I was talking about - vocally more complete - .
Do we know if there are more vocals than we have heard??
It actually replies to your question. There should be at least a more refined mix than the one we've heard, but we can't tell if any new elements have been included (including new vocal takes).

It's not that hard to read, is it?

Since we're talking about On the Line, here's the lyric sheet

I've been a fan of Mike for as long as I can remember, but I'll be damned if I'm ever gonna be able to read the man's handwriting 😅
Madly off-topic but I need to share my pain, lol. A Top Ten of Michael's fave singles and albums from 1979. I've got the singles bc someone typed out a list but the albums ...

I can make out a few (J5, Bee Gees, Quincy) but basically I'm a bit ... 🤨

[...] "I get so tired of stories being fabricated and twisted. I never saw a tape get sent to Prince, rather Prince came to Westlake (not Havenhurst) for an afternoon meeting. No chimps, no snakes, no drama. He heard the song Bad, they talked, he declined to participate, then we went back to work. If Quincy and Michael had a separate meeting with Prince at Havenhurst (which is possible but seems counterproductive), they didn't talk about it in the studio. But restructuring, recording and erasing a new version makes for a good story as it is impossible to prove or disprove." -- Brad Sundberg
Do we know where the Brad quote comes from?

His response was in response to a user who mentioned Quincy's interview about Michael and Prince meeting at Hayvenhurst and Sheila saying they heard Bad at Paisley. He posted it to a group
And then Prince offered MJ this song and MJ declined lol

This wasn't Michael's style and I see why he rejected the song [if he even heard it]. Prince insinuated he would've recorded Bad if it wasn't for the first line of the song. The video would've been different too

I wonder if he means the reference demo or if Michael cut the demo before discarding

It's actually - in my opinion - a very pretty song. Babyface was very involved in it (I think he wrote or co-wrote it), and we cut the demo in NY during HIStory in '94. Just my opinion - but I think Michael was looking to push things pretty hard on HIStory, and Waiting was maybe a bit softer than the direction he was going. - Brad Sundberg on "Willing and Waiting"

The demo of SPYHO that has leaked last year, do we know its exact recording date?

He was joking, sometimes his humor could be mistaken for seriousness but that wasn't the real reason why he declined the track. I don't even know why that song specifically was even considered as a duet, it would not work as a duet in my opinion. Far better songs to work with if there was ever a Prince & MJ collab.
