The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

The estate gives us jack shit, you saying that makes it feel like leaks are bad when these songs are NEVER gonna be released...
We aren't owed everything y'know. Not everything HAS to be heard. We have to appreciate that we get to hear these tracks at all. Leaks are inherently bad because they're done without permission, and the method of obtaining tracks is almost surely illegal.

With that being say, someone drop Boy No

And even seminars get recorded and leaked. The bulk of why we've gotten that leak drop a month ago was due to someone having access to something they weren't supposed to.
@GYWOOM the next big unreleased MJ song that ends up being trash, just keep it to yourself, bucko.
If you're willing to pay thousands of dollars for half-baked demos and loop instrumentals, then go ahead. All this will eventually surface anyways.

The fake leaker is correct. Bad is a 10/10 album with every song they’ve picked already. I mean we’re talking about the album that gave us Smooth Criminal, Leave Me Alone, Liberian Girl, and *Redacted*

And Just Good Friends would be a hit song with any one else singing it.

I truly understand that fans want to hear and see all kinds of material featuring Michael. Ultimately though, it’s about the money. You can’t expect people to devalue material by leaking it if they or others have paid thousands of dollars for it. Some people want to keep things for themselves, and I think that needs to be respected. However, I wish there was an option that would allow fans to hear and see unreleased material without it leaking afterwards. That’s why seminars have been so special (at least for me).

You may disagree with me, but the few excellent songs and sessions that Michael recorded, which haven't even been mentioned here, should be treasured and perhaps released at a later date. However, none of the material we’ve discussed over the last 17 years rivals Michael's released material.
Well now that I 100% agree with. I'd rather have releases over leaks, but songs like SW '87 and V2 of Blue Gangsta may never be released for one reason or another. Life is too short for us to enjoy everything. Being able to have what we can have just makes it all the better. The songs that are finished that are unleaked/released I would rather not have leak and released instead, but considering its been 10 years since the last album and no plans in the near future, you cant blame people for leaking them. Besides, its their choice

Oh yeah totally. Its a HUGE privilege that all these leak. I never take them for granted.

Tell that to Teddy Riley and (supposedly) Brad Sundberg. Also didn't the estate grant the guys who found the Loren Storage permission to sell the tapes?

Just Good Friends is a good song, but it would be EVEN better with someone else on it. As a Michael song on Bad, its okay. I feel like had Streetwalker '87 been fully finished (which we don't know for sure if it is, the leak is seemingly a WIP version of it), it would've fit better on the album, but that's a debate that gets talked about to the death lol

Exclusively by you yeah, lol

All I want is for "Dark Lady" ( ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶m̶a̶y̶b̶e̶ ̶a̶ ̶s̶n̶i̶p̶p̶e̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶D̶.̶I̶.̶E̶) to leak, any other song out there is literally secondary. Do you know the likehood of it leaking @arisenow? Is it as likely to leak like you said "Victory" is or is it also being closely guarded?

Someone who truly understands nothing

The tracker is not a reliable source sadly. There’s too much guesswork and unconfirmed observations in there. It needs an overhaul.

Also, please try not to get aggressive. We can confront accusations and claims peacefully.
I'm perfectly willing to put you on as editor so I can see exactly what to remove and what to overhaul.

Actually, you don't want Dark Lady. You think you like it based on a heavily edited snippet. It's really not that great. It might be the next GYWOOM.

Not many people have it. Those who do have paid a lot of money for it.

Exactly, plus the sources are all legit, not much isn’t made up on there. You just gotta do your research and the tracker makes much more sense… if you don’t believe it’s sources

Anything that isn't 100% confirmed is labelled as "Rumored". Tracker is as reliable as it gets for a one stop shop on MJ unreleased information. The only outright fake song that I've removed since I joined was "Be Me 4 A Day", all dates, years, and bios are correct, if anyone has questions or suggested corrections please shoot me or another editor a dm.

Maybe the 1989 version is, but the 1986 one isn’t
Isn't John credited on Dangerous? He never said there was another version besides the one that was discarded from Bad. If there was additional work on the track, they were probably playing around with production and ODs.

more than likely, given what little has been done as per Bottrell's session calender.

John Barnes and Michael and I worked on this a bit at Hayvenhurst.
I remember the hook. "make or break" and I don't think there were verse lyrics sung.
Just another incomplete idea that fell off the list.

It's more so with Damien's comments that gets me interested. He said that out of all the songs he listened at the Copyright Office, he picked "Dark Lady", "Rocker", and "Remember What I Told You" as his favorites and said that fans would love those. So far he was right about 2 of those, so I've high hopes for "Dark Lady".
It's really not that great. It might be the next GYWOOM.
What was it that you didn't like about the song? I don't really have any expectations for the vocals since it's a scratch vocal take, but how's the composition like?
