The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Has anyone here visited the U.S. Copyright Office to listen to Michael’s unreleased stuff? If so, how’s the experience like?

It's a bit off-putting to me how people like Damien had the info for almost 10 years but decided not to share them until now. It's also questionable how he still doesn't give the entire info unless you ask the right question multiple times. Why not put every info he has on his website?
If he were to give away everything he knew about Michael's music, nobody would bother listening to him anymore. He obviously doesn’t want that, so he mostly makes vague statements and reveals small snippets of info on purpose to keep people in the hook for as long as possible.

Weird. “The Hunt” couldn’t possibly be The Hurt, since it neither was recorded for Bad nor remain unreleased. But then, what song is this referring to?
I will sent u to read what Eddie Santiago said

Someone was going to do it months ago, that person has now vanished. He either took the wrong plane and got lost or he is in jail from trying to steal all the files.

No. That was me, I said I was considering taking a vacation to DC and spending a day at the Library of Congress. Just haven’t gotten around to planning it yet. Side note- if anyone knows how to request certain materials (ie the unreleased material), please let me know.

You have to send a request email months in advanced because they have to locate the tapes……the older the material, the more it costs

And it's 200$ per hour, right? Can't imagine how expensive that'd be lol. Requesting songs that were registered around the 2010's might be a lot cheaper since they're electronic files.

Btw, I wonder if some of the MJ leaks originate from people recording them (without authorization, obviously) during their visits to the U.S Copyright Office—is that plausible?

I don't know, you'd asssume that a federal institution would be heavily secured so I think that's really unlikely. A lot of those leaks comes from songs that were bought from auctions or shown on seminars.

Yup! So imagine having to go through cassettes from the 70s and 80s to hear some unreleased music. I’d do it but probably trim it down to selecting 5 or 6 songs

You know, I'd like to hear the Eaten Alive before MJ came into play, the original one written by Barry Gibb and the BeeGees.
You and me both. Barry seems reluctant to let us hear it.

Michael's 1985 copyright confirms he rewrote the chorus and updated the production

Basis of Claim:New Matter: "words and music in the choruses have been completely rewritten."

Does anybody know, there are a few versions of Serious Effect? Both leaked already

Just out of curiosity, if you have to email the copyright offices ahead of time, they must have to tell you if a tape you requested is in their possession or not right?

So if there are songs that we're not sure exist, the copyright offices could give an indication.

Goat really deserves a high quality release. The melody, the music it is all finished. The backgound vocals seem finished and apart from the verses I think most other lyrics seem pretty much done as well. This song IS the goat!
What song you are talking about?

If it's registered in their database, they have it. Once you request the tapes, it can take months for them to get back to you because they have to search their archives for the items....and they'll also charge you for searching for them

The song you’re thinking of, “Remember This Night,” actually isn’t a fourth McCartney duet; it’s a separate song that samples “Say Say Say.” I can’t for the life of me remember it, but I did some digging some time ago.
kinda late here haha but i tried looking it up, 'Remember This Night' is a club song from 2019 by this person named 'Boom!', it samples 'The Man', hence the MJ and McCartney credits

I've always wondered why "GYWOOM" does not show up in the copyright office's database. I know some people were able to hear it there so they must have it, but why it's not listed in their public database?

Korgnex Manipulated it

How were people able to listen to it there if the song is not registered? Are you sure if what they said is true?

Yes. That’s why it would be interesting to hear the original.

By the way, I’m fairly convinced the rewrite includes the pre-chorus, too.

You considered trying the crowdfunding way for a project like this?
Interested fans donate a little amount and you go and listen to tons of unreleased songs, and as a mission, give detailed notes of every single one of them for example and do a big writing for us. I'd probably "donate" for this. I want more details on songs, especially the later eras

I'd do it for free.

It's something that I plan on doing. Just need more info how it works. I'm not driving 6 hours to D.C. for nothing.
