Definitely agree about judging them like you'd judge his released stuff. A lot of people seem to do that and i don't understand it at all. I'm interested in MJ as an artist/creator and getting hear stuff he worked on but never released is interesting and not something I consider the same as songs he released during his lifetime. This whole discussion about unreleased Michael Jackson songs has really got me thinking. How do we justify listening to these leaked Michael Jackson demos after his death that he probably wouldn't want the public hearing in the first place? I mean, don't get me wrong. I understand that there has been a lot of hype surrounding some of those songs in the vault, and it's totally understandable that someone would want to hear them out of curiosity. But downloading and listening to these unfinished leaks (and judging them) like official tracks just seems a little weird and disrespectful. While I'm sure there were finished songs in the vault that he wanted the public to hear, as well as songs like Seeing Voices that he let the public hear while he was alive, most of them just seem like half-finished tracks that a perfectionist like him wouldn't want the world hearing. I feel the exact same way about the posthumous albums like Bad 25, Thriller 40, and especially that Xscape album, which is why I haven't listened to those albums in a while. I know that some of those tracks provide insight into his creative process, but seeing posthumous remixes like "Chicago" (which was supposed to be titled "She Was Loving Me") on the Spotify charts seems strange. But hey, to each his own.
I have enjoyed many of the leaks from recent years…if complete and HQ sound then im happy. Then it ends up being disappointing like every other leak
It’s okay to be disappointed, lots of stuff was overhyped or expected to be new MJ vocals or whatever, or more complete.Definitely agree about judging them like you'd judge his released stuff. Kinda wild to me to have expectations of or be disappointed in something that was never finished or intended to be heard.
You've heard it?Then it ends up being disappointing like every other leak
There are some interesting sounds and elements in Water. If the full version turns out to have a proper structure instead of being just a long loop, with at least some variation in the instrumental, I might change my mind about it.‘Water’ is still a holy grail for me. I know a lot of people here aren’t really interested in the song anymore since it’s just a 3 minute loop. I love everything I’ve heard from the track and it bugs me that only low quality snippets have leaked (except for Damien’s snippet). Love the harmonies and instruments. I don’t really care if it’s a loop when the loop is so good (to me).
Same goes for ‘Adore You’, although we haven’t properly heard that one , but the recreation that Will’ put out sounds dope.
If we're talking recent leaks, Man In Black did not disappoint me, aside from the unfinished vocals. Chicago 1945 is great, just lacks a better chorus and needs better mixing. GYWOOM is in the top 5 for unreleased songs for me, same with Streetwalker '87. TYLA is unfinished so I never had much hopes for it, but it's still great. Deep In The Night is great, same with Family Thing. None of the Motif leaks disappointed me either, they turned out to be what I expected actually. Some of these tracks have been talked about in this very forum since 2009. There are even veteran members in this thread who've been discussing certain unleaked songs since the early 2000s, like the ones MJ himself mentioned in his deposition.
It's been so long that some of these tracks became mythical holy grails. Water, Man In Black, etc etc, all had this huge aura around them before those snippets leaked. The anticipation built up so much that disappointment is pretty much inevitable.
And by "disappointed" I don't mean comparing them to released material, but if the idea itself, even in an early demo form, feels weak or uninteresting, then yeah, it's a letdown. All it takes is a strong, promising idea to make an unreleased track interesting to me.
I don't really feel the same about DITN, Streetwalker '87, GYWOOM, and MIB, but that's fine! Whether they're good or not, it's always nice to talk about them here and read everyone's different takes on these demos. If we're talking recent leaks, Man In Black did not disappoint me, aside from the unfinished vocals. Homeless Bound sounds like it was recorded under a freeway, which is ironic
Pitch up Streetwalker '87 by +0.30 so that it matches the BB version. Or just use my video:I don't really feel the same about DITN, Streetwalker '87, GYWOOM, and MIB, but that's fine! They might be disappointing sometimes, but I don't think anyone would deny how fascinating it is to get even a little glimpse of what MJ was experimenting with or trying out during those sessions.
I feel like there's something good in every version of Streetwalker we've heard. If someone made a definitive mix that combined all the best parts of each one, it could actually turn out really nice.Pitch up Streetwalker '87 by +0.30 so that it matches the BB version. Or just use my video:
I think it’s: ‘Tell your friends that sweatin’ you is useless. When it’s over girl you’re coming home with (me?), yeah. Also does anyone know what the lyrics are in the Shut Up and Dance verse snippet?

Verse 1
Start getting dressed up for the evening
You worked your tail off all week long
And I just can’t wait to you, baby
'Cause tonight we going out to get our groove on
I don’t want to hear no lame excuses
Like you’ve got somewhere else to be
Tell your friends stop sweating you, it’s useless
When it’s over girl you're coming home with me, yeah, so…
Chorus
Just forget about your problems
When you leave that daily grind
Don’t you worry 'bout tomorrow
Let the music free your mind
Stop thinkin' 'bout folks starin' at you
That’s too much to bare (Shut up and dance)
Those drama talkers ain’t thinkin' 'bout-chu
So why should you care?
Shut up and dance
Shut up and dance
Verse 2
Hey girl, you look so good, I love it
You’re gonna knock me to my knees
Your body’s bangin’, girl, it hurt me,
You got me beggin’ baby, please, please, please
Repeat Chorus
Bridge
You don’t really have nothing to lose
And you know, you know it (Girl!)
Just let the music take control of you
'Cause you want it baby!
Chorus Out

Thanks for sharing the lyrics! From what we know, all the different mixes are Kirkland's writer demos, but do you know if there are any versions with at least MJ's BGVs, ad-libs, or anything else?Shut Up & Dance (Eric Kirkland / Michael Prince / Michael Jackson) - 11th September 2008

King Tut lolwhat would that song even be about
Afaik, there’s no connection between Tomboy and Stop Thatconsidering that its most likely a slightly stripped version of Stop That with different lyrics, it'll prolly be good
What? I thought it was confirmed that Troutman gave Zapp the multitracks and they further developed the song for Stop ThatAfaik, there’s no connection between Tomboy and Stop That
On the contrary. Zapp do not have any Idea about Tomboy. What? I thought it was confirmed that Troutman gave Zapp the multitracks and they further developed the song for Stop That
I've theorized that the song may have been made for a potential TV series in mind since around the time the song was made Michael was trying to get himself to play Tutankhamun in a TV show. The timing is too coincidental if you ask me lolmost likely working titles but good question...why these titles exactly lmaoo
king tutankhamun is an instrumental but its still so interesting to me. what would that song even be about
"In April 2007, Michael and his entertainment attorney Peter Lopez met with Randy Phillips, the CEO of live entertainment promoters Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) Live, in the private wine cellar of a luxury condo in Turnberry Towers that AEG had rented for the occasion.
Together they discussed the possibility of Michael taking up another residency, this time at the 20,000 capacity O2 Arena in London, an arena which AEG operates... In the meeting Michael reiterated his desire to make movies, and discussed the idea of playing King Tutankhamun in a television mini-series based on the story of the pharaoh. Phillips explained that AEG had the necessary connections after bringing a King Tutankhamun exhibition to the United States in 2005. The idea was presented to filmmakers at Walden Media, which is owned by AEG, but they did not feel the project was viable." -Making Michael Page 421
