The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Idk why Loren's work is disliked, I personally really like his tracks

I think Bryan Loren needs an apology tbh and I hope The MJ Cast or some other medium invites him again to talk about his period with MJ. If he is still alive..?

Yes he came across as bitter and arrogant, but he was definitely right that his work impacted the Dangerous album and the History album more than he was credited for.

About fans not liking his sound; perhaps that it reminds them of 'Do The Bartman', which in itself was a good, funky track. And funny as a lot of real funk.
Also when I compare Loren's solo album with 'Back On The Block' from Quincy (happened to bust it yesterday) than he definitely was more contemporary than Q at the time..

Also: 'Deep In The Night'..

It's so interesting to me out of all of the amazing tracks MJ was pitched throughout the 2000's that he rejected he chose to want to do SUAD and ILYM which are not particularly good in my own opinion especially compared to some other stuff like from Freeze or Pharrell
I think SUAD is one of the tracks that would bring Mike back on the charts, alongside Hold My Hand. A modern production of SUAD plus mike's funk is an instant hit.

An apology from who, though? The majority of the songs he worked on aren't great (IMO), and I'm glad Dangerous sounds nothing like any of those songs. He has no reason to be bitter. MJ went with another producer and the album did very well. He needs to make peace with that. "She's Got It" and "Superfly Sister" are the only songs that would be in my rotation.

I'm not a fan of the MJCast, but he came across poorly all on his own. Also, looking for money from MJ fans for songs that leaked that he worked on was bonkers.

Loren's work sounds too dated. I think part of the bitterness stems from MJ asking him to make music that sounds like Janet, and then MJ switched gears. And then MJ goes out and recruits Teddy, who basically took the place of Loren.

Loren’s work is hit or miss for me. It’s all dated and hews too close to Prince for my personal liking, but “She Got It” is one of my all-time favorite MJ outtakes and “Superfly Sister” is a ton of fun. Still, it’s not surprising his stuff didn’t make the cut in terms of sonics / genre, and he is way too pompous and self-absorbed.

Bryan has definitely done a lot of his own digging tbh. I like his songs and style well enough (a few I actually like a lot), but of course MJ made the correct decision to start again with Teddy. He seems very bitter about it and yeah the whole trying to sell songs thing just made him not trustworthy imo.

I'm actually surprised MJ didn't reach out to Teddy sooner. He was already making hits in '87 and '88. And then he worked on the Jacksons album in '89. I would've thought after that Jacksons album (2300 Jackson Street) MJ would've hired him.

so i was told by someone to ask Korgnex about what the lyrics are for Blue Powder. that's up to Korg if he wants to post them here.
