The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Jackson was a perfectionist, and Stevens recalls working on about 20 songs that were never finished for Dangerous.

he HH "collection" includes nearly all of Barnes' songs
In that case you should know about Liberian Girl 83’ and MJ’s Alright Now, or i’m wrong?

In case you do, how’s sounds LB 83’, is it different to the final version?
Alright now was recorded in full by MJ?

He played unreleased songs when he played the album for the execs. I wonder what songs they were

Given when he likely heard them (very early 1991), it was likely:

-Monkey Business
-Earth Song
-Man In Black
-Work That Body
-For All Time
-Superfly Sister
-Seven Digits
-If You Don't Love Me

and also Black Or White, Will You Be There, Dangerous, Who Is It, Gone Too Soon, and Heal The World, but those were the ones that made it.

Did you know if theres more unreleased Teddy Riley song recorded by MJ?

Joy is one of them ofc
Not to my knowledge.

Joy is... how can I put it lightly? Trash.
I heard it once over the phone, and it was absolutely underwhelming.

Teddy had a few good moments and ideas, but that's about it. Personally, I can’t stand him.

Do you have any info on what songs like “Song For Epic”, “Bill’s African Groove”, and idk, “Scream-O-Blaster” sound like?

And what is another song that’s unleaked that you love?

lets hear some proof before you yap any more about stuff other than things brad sundberg has
Funny you should mention that! Do you remember the night we hung out in VC? I was just messing around with some music, and you seemed a bit strange at the time. I was literally about to play you some old tracks because I know you love odd sounds. Anyway, why don't you leak something more interesting? How about Light The Way?

Interesting.

What can you tell me about HIStory or Invincible? Although I think your material on the latter was limited.

However, is there any unleaked material from those periods that you think might interest us?

HIStory is complete. Everything that has already been released or leaked is perfect. Isn't 'On the Line' just perfect? Tabloid Junkie? Jesus, I love HIStory! There isn't much more material that's worthy of release. You've already heard some of the remaining tapes. Korg leaked all the good songs.

The entire Invincible era, is trash. Besides 'Speechless', 'The Lost Children' and 'You Rock My World'. There were a few ideas from Rodney and his collaborators. The writing sessions are interesting.

Forget The Jackson 5, Off the Wall, Bad and Thriller eras. The songs are dated. Besides the occasional good song and some pretty cool sounds, there isn't much substance to them. It doesn't help that the recording techniques and hardware weren't as good as they should have been back then. Even the remaining HH songs aren't particularly interesting. There is one thing I really love, though: the writing session for 'Dirty Diana'. Bear in mind that Michael only finished about 10% of the songs he recorded or worked on. Dangerous was his best period. The number of songs he wrote and recorded, even if only partially, is incredible. I could spend hours talking about songs from that era. And don’t forget his amazing live performances.

That being said, Michael was an incredible human being and I miss him dearly.

I greatly disagree with your comment about the earlier stuff. As someone who likes most music from the '70s and '80s, I genuinely find music like that interesting from a historical and aesthetic standpoint. Though that's likely just me.

What about Rich Girl? Ive heard a bunch about it, some saying it’s a finished song, some saying it’s not even recorded.

Also, ive been wanting to ask you this for a while but I never got the opportunity to. The version of Streetwalker 1987 that leaked last year, do you know if that is the 8-12-87 version that is on the picture of the Bad tracklist from 8-12-87? Some have theorized, myself included, that it is not that 8-12-87 version. We know that Brad Sundberg has that version (as far as we can tell) from a photo of his files, but what’s interesting is that the ending of the original seminar leak of the song has a different outro, while the version that LEAKED has a slightly different outro. Not to mention that it sounds unfinished and it has a shorter runtime than the supposed 8-12-87 version (5:18 opposed to 6:10). The point is, the leaked version from last year sounds like a work in progress, and may or may not be the ACTUAL final version of Streetwalker 1987, and I was wondering if you could be so kind to lend some info on it, if you have any?

Never completed. I’d enjoy working on it along with several others from that time period. Bill Bottrell and I understand what we did and what Michael was going for. Maybe one day...He sang the chorus. There probably is a guide vocal on the Original master. - John Barnes on Buffalo Bill.

Looks like confirmation Michael only sang the chorus

kinda disheartening to hear that there's not a lot that's actually complete in the vault tbh.
