Well, it's not like I had a response to this one, lol.weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
"Faith, hope and charity. And the greatest of these is charity."
St Paul to the Corinthians
Got me thinking. We have an Orthodox feast of saints Faith, Hope, Love and their mother Sophia (meaning Wisdom). I love how the holiday unites all four of these values (important concepts). And by that logic, Wisdom is the eldest. Now ...who is gonna be Charity next !

i love that sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much babe lolGot me thinking. And by that logic, Wisdom is the eldest.
Yeah, I think Harvest Festival at school was always a bit problematic. Maybe a good idea in theory but definite trip hazards all over the freakin' place. The church version was better, I think, bc the thanksgiving aspect was emphasised more and the hard work of the farmers was celebrated quite well. And no pressure to donate anything. And the displays were more beautiful, imo. I mean, this is back in the day. No idea what it's like now.@@mjfanatic777 Hi yep I do because i do but No zin @zinniabooklover is right , my god zin you took me back reading that, well explained there
yeah we have the harvest festival which children [ and this was mostly in primary as i recall in assemblies ,] would have to take a tin of food , maybe beans and or fruit and veg , cereal, nuts - and put it on a ledge basically , and then it gets taken its like a donation you could take anything on that list back then long as it was food, I would come home with a lonnnnng list and it would cause all kinds of problems ~ and it was huge in the 80s in my primary school yeah , It was very pressured to do that in my school. Mr Else. who looked like Dave from Nirvana pretty much made us do it.
Yes! Sophia / Wisdom is so important, especially in the Hebrew scriptures.Got me thinking. We have an Orthodox feast of saints Faith, Hope, Love and their mother Sophia (meaning Wisdom). They are. That is partly why I went for the King James version, to get Charity rather than Love. Although Charity doesn't crop up much as a name in the UK. Not so much as it used to. But I also prefer the older King James translation just for itself. There are problems with that translation, of course. Many, many problems. Mostly I would want a more modern translation. But, for Corinthians 13, I always go for KJV.And these names are still used. There are girls with these names.
We used to have to sing to a bunch of ....vegetables/fruits because that be on the center stage i'm choking as i type this lol But yeah it was really problematic used to cause loads of rows in our house lolYeah, I think Harvest Festival at school was always a bit problematic. Maybe a good idea in theory but definite trip hazards all over the freakin' place.
and no falling tail over tit , and it was hell if you sat on an acorn . a;ll the donations used to go flying , in schoolThe church version was better, I think, bc the thanksgiving aspect was emphasised more and the hard work of the farmers was celebrated quite well. And no pressure to donate anything. And the displays were more beautiful, imo.
Last i knew was 2006 . But i have no ...zero clue about it nowI mean, this is back in the day. No idea what it's like now.
oh, fgs, why do they do this crap to kids? Why?We used to have to sing to a bunch of ....vegetables/fruits because that be on the center stage i'm choking as i type this lol But yeah it was really problematic used to cause loads of rows in our house lol
Mercy is a very important value and human quality. Probably the highest manifestation of Love is mercy, I think so)))))Yes! Sophia / Wisdom is so important, especially in the Hebrew scriptures.

Oh they did ! the trauma of it ! lol it was so shoved down our throats !oh, fgs, why do they do this crap to kids? Why?
WHY????????????
Singing to a tin of Heinz beans, I bet. I can just see it!
This is why I always prefer to use 'charity' rather than 'love'. I think charity has a far wider meaning than the modern meaning it typically bears. It definitely includes mercy, imo. I think we've somewhat diminished 'charity' in this day and age which is a shame.Mercy is a very important value and human quality. Probably the highest manifestation of Love is mercy, I think so)))))
See? Exactly what you don't want to do. Do you want to undermine the whole thing? Shove it down their throats and make them sing to a bleedin' tin of beans. Or a cabbage. Nowt wrong with cabbage but I do draw the line at singing directly TO it, lol.Oh they did ! the trauma of it ! lol it was so shoved down our throats !
