Talking about your guy, I have a book of interviews by Mick Wall with one Axl interview in it and one GnR interview. Still haven't read either one of them.

Brushing I read about about the holiday of Faith, Hope, Love and it turned out that long ago in Russia (before the Russian Empire appeared) it was the holiday of all women's names, women's holiday)))) We have namesholiday is the feast of the Saint after whom you are named. And this saint, with the same name as yours is considered your guardian angel and protects you. Once upon a time, we didn't celebrate birthdays, only namesholiday.

I'm not sure what I think about relics. I can understand it completely and yet at other times I'm a bit impatient about the whole thing. But I understand why we do it. Look at how many people will keep a piece of jewellery, say, that belonged to a beloved grandparent. Or a locket with a small lock of hair in it.

OMG zin ! what book be this one babe? I have the Mick Axl autobiography, 10 times ... no , its about 3, I don't have a book of interviews though?? GnR hmmm I wonder what year that is then ?

@hope - this piece reminded me that Three Sisters is one of my fave plays. I haven't seen in such a long time, though. Anyway, posting for stuff about name days.

Relics are symbolic, they are like a material embodiment of something spiritual. It works very well. People often try to seal memories with things. For example, a ticket to a concert, souvenirs from traveling, a pebble from a beautiful place. (The mug that Lisbon gave to Patrick)))) is more often just a photo now, of course. But these things hold the emotions of the past and you can feel them anew by going through these things.)))
I personally keep my grandmother's tea set, not to use, but as a memory, and actually a lot of other things)))))

'Appetite for Destruction: legendary encounters with Mick Wall'.

Haven't read the GnR bits but have read a few others. Have to say I don't rate him as a writer or interviewer. He did that Purple Reign book about Prince and I don't rate that, either.

Oh, I understand all of this. It's just the religious relics thing. There are elements of all of that where I'm not completely on board. But the general thing, I'm fine with. It's a natural human impulse, I think.
