What?? - How come so many albums have re-entered the chart this week? MJ's birthday was weeks ago, so can't be that??
What has happend in Spain that has made MJ's album rise so much?

Glad to see it's real sales. - people have actually wanted to hear MJ so much they even wanted to pay for it!

It is due to the release of the latest LP versions.

Wow. - I was not at all aware that the LP's could make such a surge in sales. - especially considering it's so limited and already out of stock - and by the look of it no more copies will be made...

But great to see MJ on the charts. :)

It's the box set that's limited and out of stock. The individual albums are still widely available? At least my local record stores have plenty.

Yeah just the box is limited

Oh, OK. My bad - I thought they were all limited. - But glad to hear they are not, then maybe I can still get HIStory and Dangerous.

This doesn't add up. The Way You Make Me Feel could probably be sung by 90% of the UK [chorus at least] and yet it's only gold?

This certification is only from 2004 onwards and is digital only.

Also, HOLD MY HAND is Silver (200,000)

162,000 pure sales as of June 14 - 2014.

Damn, so what happens to the 1988-2004 sales?

No idea, but I guess the sales weren't that high to warrant a certification. We have to remember that in Michael's era, single sales weren't that high. You won't have many platinum or multi-platinum singles from 70s, 80s & 90s. Single sales only started to rise when mp3, iTunes arrived on the scene in the late 90s, early 2000s. Prior to that, people used to buy albums.

Very true. MJs singles [bar Earth Song and a few others] would never do that well. The first single from the album was always a smash, but that was because people didn't have the album yet.

His singles would do well for that time period and in relation to his contemporaries. I guess if you are comparing the sales of some of his biggest hits to sales of some of the biggest hits of the 21st century, then of course his singles don't do that well. But if you are comparing him to his contemporaries such as Prince, Whitney, Madonna, Janet, Stevie, then his singles have done really well.

In the 1980s and 1990s having a single that would achieve sales of more than 500,000 copies in the USA or The UK was a huge achievement.
Single was not the main format and they were also on average SIXFOLD more expensive than a download.

Singles were huge for a few years in the 90s in the UK. There were many big chart singles battles and it was an area that the younger demographic really owned. Comparatively I remember the US turning their backs on the single around the same time (maybe just after). It was quite 'unusual' to find a physical CD single of a hit song.

US Charts:

Billboard 200
The Essential Michael Jackson: 47(41) 243 weeks

Top Catalogue albums
The Essential Michael Jackson: 1(3) 296 weeks

The Essential Michael Jackson spends its 8th week on the Catalogue chart, 7 of which have come this year. It's nice to see Essential MJ replace Number Ones as the main greatest hits album in the US, as it has a better tracklist.

Oh please. Don't go there. You may not like the song but that's definitely Michael's vocals on Don't Matter To Me.

The way that tweet is worded made out its MJs work. Its not. It's a poorly filtered sample. It's obviously him, I'm not saying otherwise.

Sorry if I came across as rude in my post.

I completely agree with you. They should word as 'Drake featuring Michael Jackson' and not as 'Drake and Michael Jackson.'

I think by 50 million copies, they mean total sales of Bad album and singles. I very much doubt that the Bad album on its own has sold anywhere near 50 million.

This is a fake account. 'Spotify News' yet it's only MJ related stories?
