The Michael Jackson Chart Watch

Wow. I am happy to see Chicago is doing so well.

Just listented to it again for the first time in a while. It is catchy and great. MJ's vocals are great. The production is overall great, but the duck sounds?? I could have done without those... :ROFLMAO:
I have to admit the ducks always give me a bit of a headache, so it's not my favorite song, but it's still nice to see that people like it and how quickly it's possible for previously little noticed songs to come into focus.

The daily streams for the albums Forever Michael, Michael and the 5 new tracks for BOTDF. Data from 23/01 to 24/01/2023

Very surprised to see hold my hand having 23000 streams a week, I never listen to it myself but apparently it is quite popular. The other numbers are disappointing in general especially the likes of morphine or is it scary. Ghosts surprises me as well but then again it got extra exposure on the scream compilation.

There is so much improvement possible in his back catalogue. I firmly believe many of those songs could trend one day.

I listened to it also yesterday and I think it is a terrible song (main gripe is the production, including the duck) I am super happy it is doing so well though lol

Same.

I am not a fan of either version of Chicago, but I am glad it is doing well.

I hope some other lesser known MJ songs blow up on tiktok this year.

Some old school chart news:

The now defunct Belgian "back catalogue" chart the weeks after MJ's passing.
Beat it: 6 weeks nr 1
They don't care about us: 1 week nr 1
Billie Jean: 3 weeks nr 1

These were all consecutive, so he was nr 1 in this hart for 10 straight weeks. The first 3 weeks after Michael's passing only 3 non MJ related songs were able to crack the top 30. He continued to have 3 to 4 songs in the top 10 for the rest of 2009 months after his death. Later on after the initial sales boom Thriller, beat it and they don't care about us peaked at nr 1 that same year.
The first week without an MJ song in the top 10 was 12 December 2009, beat it peaked at nr 11 that week. This was an anomaly as he returned to the top 10 the following weeks with both thriller and beat it.

Because of the recent death of one of the former Fleetwood Mac members.
This has sure a effect but even without this Rumours is I think a strong seller in the USA and regulary charting.

4 rock acts (well Phil Collins probably wasn't rock anymore in the 80s) + Michael Jackson
