Dude, do you have a problem comprehending reading and processing information?
How is it even fake that I am listening to Billie Jean every 3rd song?
Where was the miscomprehension? It's not fake that you listened to Billie Jean (it's such a strange thing to lie about that I believe you 100%).
What's fake is a chart position that's based on flawed/biased/untrustworthy data. Like, you're literally admitting to trying to rig the charts with your behaviour.
Is there anything wrong with that?
No, it's fine. You listen to what you want. I don't care. Just like I'll listen to what I want to, and you don't care. Oh wait, maybe you do?! That's the perverse thing.
In any case, there's nothing wrong with listening to what you want. What's wrong is celebrating it as some kind of success.
Do you think that others artists on the charts have fans that listens a lot to their most popular songs, its more common than you think!
I thought I'd made it clear that it doesn't affect me, and I can't control it, so I don't care.
They listen to what they want. I don't care. Just like I'll listen to what I want to, and they don't care.
Oh wait, did I say that already?
I was saying we should leave positive comments & likes on posts on Michael Jackson positive news whether its on twitter, facebook or anywhere else. Meaning enjoying ourselves celebrating Michaels music & legacy with others.
If you enjoy doing that, you go ahead.
But being a slave to Sony is not what I enjoy.
As Swift fans usually claim Michael Jackson is 2nd tier to Taylor Swift I personally think it would be fun to overtake her on the charts.
Great.
Should I clap?
Not sure what you are so mad about tbh
Is that what it looks like?
R1chard, can we count on you streaming Billie Jean on spotify today?
I never stream anything because it sounds so terrible. It's ok, I've got the MoFi SACD, I can listen to Billie Jean whenever I want.
Like - how can I put this?
If you're curious about what other people are listening to, that's fine. But that's all it is,
a curiosity.
Does it have any impact on your life to know what other people listen to? Objectively - the answer is
absolutely not.
Unless you own Sony shares, or work in the music industry, then that's the simple fact. You are not affected by the listening habits of Joe Blogs.
You're just not.
Again, you can be curious about anything you like. It's good to enjoy frivolous things. But it's the definition of unimportant.
The problem is that most people don't consume music physically anymore. They listen to music via streaming services like Spotify, etc.
The charts have changed their rules to reflect the changes in the way people consume music.
And that's fine.
Perfectly fine.
Really really really fine.
But all you're doing is pointing out why sales and streams cannot be compared.
Yes, people's habits have changed. Yes, the industry has moved on. So stop trying to pretend that it hasn't.
These things are not equivalent. Sales told you how many copies of an album were sold. Streams tell you how many times a song has been played at no cost to the person who owns the account. One is not the "equivalent" of the other. You can't add up how many burgers you ate and calculate how many milkshakes are the equivalent.
All they have in common is that they're both proxies for how much money Sony makes. But since that doesn't affect me (as above), then it's not something I can bring myself to care about.
DRAKE has
dropped THREE ALBUMS containing
43 SINGLES at once!

What people are prepared to do, when ‘trying’ to match THE GOAT
Yeah, MJ is obviously the reason. You can just decide on Sunday you want to write and record 43 songs and they will be released on Monday. It doesn't need months of preparation or anything.
My opinion won't change anything, but this is a board, and people like me or R1chard have the right to Say, politely, that this streaming sales are a little bit too over the top top be taken as seriously as actual sales.
Yeah, I'm kinda saying that.
What I'm also saying is that - sure, yeah I'm a numbers guy, love them, and when I was like 9 I used to listen to the charts out of curiosity, see if there were any patterns, etc. Was I bothered if the #1 was a song I didn't like? No, because that's crazy. People have their own tastes, some are like mine, most are different to mine. I don't get offended because Oasis was more popular than Bananarama.
More importantly, success does NOT equal quality. It never has. A song being popular literally doesn't mean anything. If you like it, great. But let's stop pretending that it actually affects any of us.
All people seem to be doing is equating "other people like MJ, just like me, therefore I have good taste, rawr, *beats chest*"
I sometimes wonder whether some people even enjoy MJ's music, or whether they're just here to bask in the glory.
I agree with some of your points. I just don’t why you both are so worked up about it, so much do that you feel the need to keep repeating it?
Didn't look to me like Rob was worked up at all.
I know this will go over your head, but maybe give some thought as to why you're so confrontational all the time?
It was WAY EASIER for record companies and fans to ‘manipulate the charts’ back in the day. Especially 1950’s / 1960’s. Again, we both know that.

Seems to be 20 billion streams per day. And do you know what else we know? That up to 80% of streams originate from a playlist. In other words, the majority of people don't actually choose what they listen to. They just passively "consume" what others want them to. Of course, in addition, lots of people don't actually listen to the music that's being played because they're afk.
So yeah, these streaming numbers don't mean nearly as much as you think they do.
Of his circa 12,000 pts 11,000 are on Apple

who I think you’ll find he has a ‘deal’ with
Nobody understands or cares about these "points", but yeah, it's open to manipulation. That's kinda what I've been saying for the last 50 pages...
My ****** word.
I've literally been in a boxing ring with people sho aren't as aggressive and confrontational as you.
I've told you before, and you didn't listen, but I'll say it again anyway - NOT EVERYTHING IS A BATTLE. That's just a lame trick used by record labels and tabloids to get gullible people to care about (and spend money on) pointless things.
Come on, Nite Line? Where’s your

emoji.
I would make it compulsory when his name is written, if it were down to me.

Clown. Spiteful 4 year old. Sounds about right.
