Wanna Volunteer in Africa(I know it is crazy,but i really want to)

Hi,i am Heal.A few months ago,i say hello to your guys with "HEALme".But i lose it and have to get a new one.You can call me Heal anyway.
The crazy idea formed in my mind 6 years ago.I dont know whether it is from MJ(After all,i am a pupil at that time.i dont even know where Africa is~~).Now i studied the basic knowledge of Geography and try to turn it into reality.
I found a website called IVHQ (http://www.volunteerhq.org/).It provides various projects and a quite affordable price.Yet some guys said it is just an organization making money by placing volunteers abroad.I am quite confused.But i am determined to volunteer.And i need to begin my preparations now because i plan to realize it in the summer of 2015.
SO i come to ask your guys help.Have you ever done such teenage-volunteer work in other countries?Or you know some information on it?Or you simply have the same crazy idea with me?Please share what u think!!!

thank u very much to give me such a GREAT advice! I will go to the "Make that Change" post to have look.And in this week,a guy told me it is challenging to have ur first volunteering9abroad) in Africa and suggested i could try some countries with the same background with my own.now i am just confused.BTW,u gave me the LONGEST reply i have never received!!!(including in my domestic MJfanclub~~~)
