What do you guys think the chances of getting a 50th anniversary album for "Off The Wall" is?

It was definitely better than the OTW doc, imo. Not great by any means, but the amount of unseen footage alone was a solid draw.
Spike did the exact same thing with unseen footage. Even though it should've been more

It is not proper to celebrate one's death with an anniversary release.

Michael Jackson died because of what was going on during the 'This Is It' era.

It would look like you are happy because that person (in that case, Michael Jackson) died.

Thirdly, it would be pointless to release a 50th anniversary version of the 'Off The Wall' disco album, considering that the disco genre has been dead for half a century.
Many current artists have Off The Wall vibes.

Michael Jackson Shares His Love of Performing with ABC News in 1979
December 27, 2024
On this date in 1979, ABC News 20/20 presented a special segment focused on Michael Jackson and his success with the first solo album of his adult career, “Off The Wall”. Michael was enthusiastic in the interview with Sylvia Chase and expressed the joy he found in performing: “when I see all those different colors of faces get in that concert hall, they hold hands, and they have a party, and they get down – I feel like I’ve accomplished something.”

I think they will do OTW 50, just like they will end up doing Thriller 50.

Perhaps this is when we will get the Sunset Driver demo from OTW era.
They could release Michael's solo version of "This Had To Be"

Another reason is that we already had it.

There.

The SACD is the definitive version. There will never be anything better.

Go ahead and buy the most deluxe edition ever. And then put a sticker on the front that says 50th anniversary.

You, @R1chard, won't buy a 50th Anniversary edition of OTW, even if it comes with a second disc containing let's say 5 previously unreleased demo recordings, correct?

Correct.

I will never buy another version of OTW unless it sounds better, and at this point that's impossible unless it's in 5.1 surround.

Anniversary editions are for chumps.

If they want to sell me new songs, then collect them all together and release them as a new album with 12 new songs and nothing else, for £8, or whatever the going rate is for a CD these days. Something that's actually worthwhile.

50 Songs About Cheaters and Cheating

23. "Girlfriend," Wings
From: London Town (1978)

"Girlfriend" is a song Paul McCartney wrote and thought Michael Jackson might like to record. Jackson did indeed record it for his 1979 album Off the Wall, but McCartney recorded it first with Wings and included it on 1978's London Town.
