It's been down for a while - was it abruptly shut down? When and what happened? There's so much info on there - is it just gone forever?

I dunno. I was on there from the early days, maybe about 2001. I think the URL changed. Then one day it was gone. I'm thinking that must have been at least 6 years ago.

Hmm, the Wayback Machine has an archive from Jan 2023, but I could have sworn it was gone a long time before that. Maybe I just forgot my password and abandoned the place, lol.

KOPboard (mjj2005.com) was shut down a decade ago.

Its administration team stated (right before its closure) that they were willing to transfer its database to anyone who would want to host that online fan forum with its monthly costs.

It has been said that KOPboard (mjj2005.com) was unfriendly and aggressive towards MJJCommunity.

It really wasn't. I remember reading stuff on it as late as after Leaving neverland (2019). I just didn't visit after covid until recently. Like poster above said, seems to have been around until 2023. It was a big MJ board - I'm surprised no one knows what happened.

I remember it going down at some point late last year (around October, I think). There were some people posting on it, but not a lot and not that often. Don't think there was any sort of shutdown announcement, either.

It was unfriendly towards me. What I remember was a load of teenagers arguing over what colour the background should be. "It can't be white, that hurts me eyes!" Wtf. And everybody wanted to have a bigger and bigger animated avatar, and a longer and longer signature. It really wasn't a pleasant interface.

Plus you had everybody trying to pretend they were the biggest fan. I remember I kept getting posts deleted (example, I reviewed the new Number Ones DVD and I said the picture quality wasn't very good on Billie Jean, so I got modded).

Really, it's no big loss.

Maybe that was important at the time. But it's 2024, who cares about the trial now? Spoiler: MJ was found not guilty on all 14 counts.

It was just a message board. They were just conversations, and nobody would ever want to re-read 90% of them.

Plus, if I remember correctly, it suffered from the same problem as this place: lack of categorization, no structure, everybody posted everything into one big forum, so you couldn't filter anything.

It was better categorized than this forum. And I read about the trial in detail 10 years after it happened, so it serves a purpose and was a time capsule. I'm sorry to lose it.

Ok. Cool.

I'm just saying there's no use crying over spilt milk. Bringing back the site isn't something I can help you with.
