What is The Most Underrated Michael Jackson song?

"Blue Gangsta" is such a banger. Makes me wonder (if it had dropped as a single in the early or mid-2000s), how would people have reacted? Would fans have loved it for what it is, or would critics have just called it a wannabe "Smooth Criminal"? Like, would it have had a real shot at being a hit?

Just Good Friends ft. Stevie Wonder? I say that rarely gets mentioned amongst fans.

And maybe Privacy from the Invincible album? I like this song but I fear it’s another underrated song.
I agree with both songs and found in 2001 that Privacy has a very catchy rhythm that I couldn't get out of my head.

Someone already mentioned it but Superfly Sister is 100% my pick. I love the instrumentals and how the song is nearly entirely built on chorus + ad libs.
That'll be me.
Big Love for that tune too. It still pleases me many years later

IMO the most underrated Michael Jackson song is Someone Put Your Hand Out.
It’s a beautifully arranged piece – subtle, emotional, and full of rich musical layers.

History, The Title Track. I never hear anyone mention that one. It's one of my favorite anthems of his. I love the verses, the harmonizing, the ending, and even the historical lines sampled throughout. It's honestly a masterpiece.
Speaking of the HIStory album, I never hear anyone talk about On the Line, its a great track. Should've made the cut IMO.

True, that song is fantastic. I personally find the intro very extended, so I listen to the radio cut version

The fact that you bring up On The Line pretty much exemplifies my point, no one ever focuses on the title track of History lol.

I do agree though, On The Line is an excellent song. It was made for a movie though, literally.

D.S. Peak of MJ songwriting. Deserved to be a lead single of History with short film. Such a shame Michael peformed this song only one time

I love Who is It and Stranger in Moscow and Liberian Girl but wouldn't call them underrated as they even got their own Music Videos or were even released as singles.
the fact that they were singles and got a video doesn't mean a thing, more to the point, they were singles got a video treatment and yet they are not recognized enough out of the fan base, they are some of his very best and people rarely if ever acknowledge them

I like 2 Bad alot ...Superfly Sister
Agree! I see fans hate on it. I adore it. I think it probably sounds a little out of context on the Blood album. Place it in between the Bad era and Do The Bartman and it sounds a little closer to home perhaps.

I have no problem with it on Blood though, for me it works fine.
