I had a quick look at the Backstreet Boys Sphere thing. No offence but it looked kinda garish to me. I'm sure some people loved it but for me it was a bit OTT.Speaking of concerts , has anyone seen footage of the backstreet boys residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas? Omg the visuals are absolutely insane.
It made me sad because I could totally see MJ putting on the greatest show on earth at the Sphere with today’s technology.
It’s only a fantasy though![]()
Aww I loved it. I can see what you think it was OTT though.I had a quick look at the Backstreet Boys Sphere thing. No offence but it looked kinda garish to me. I'm sure some people loved it but for me it was a bit OTT.
Tbh, I think Michael did it better with the Earth Song sequence in TII. Same kind of idea, similar vibe, just loads better. Just imo.![]()
I've slightly changed my mind since I posted my comment. I watched a review of the BB show and I saw a lot more of the graphics. I can see what you mean. It does have a sort of TII 2.0 feel and I can easily imagine Michael getting excited and loads of good ideas being developed with his team. For me, it's just too much sensory overload - mainly the really garish colourful bits. But some of the other stuff was actually great. Especially the futuristic bits - very Scream! I could imagine a really dramatic set of visuals being created for that.Aww I loved it. I can see what you think it was OTT though.
To be honest, if he was still playing shows today he would have been nearly 70 years old. He would have had no choice but to take things easy and sit on a chair.I could totally see MJ putting on the greatest show on earth at the Sphere with today’s technology.
Well, that's why I reverted back to Mexico 1975. Much more my cup of tea![...] I think a lot of people would have preferred a laid back concert that focused on his vocals and left the theatrics behind.
It’s weird to think that actually but you’re right. I still couldn’t see a late 60s MJ having anything stripped back.To be honest, if he was still playing shows today he would have been nearly 70 years old. He would have had no choice but to take things easy and sit on a chair.

not necessarily. There's no way of knowing what condition he would've been in at this age, and if he would be able to perform like he always has, or if he would have to sit on a chair. I mean, Mick Jagger is 81 and he's not sitting on a chair when performing! Age alone doesn't decide what people can and can't doTo be honest, if he was still playing shows today he would have been nearly 70 years old. There's a great many people who are well-known for having a high proportion of bad concerts as they got older (Blondie, GNR, Aerosmith - actually the Stones were well past it 10 years ago, nevermind today).not necessarily. Speaking of GNR . I’ve heard people compare Axl Rose to Mickey Mouse which I thought was hilarious…..until I heard it for myselfThere's a great many people who are well-known for having a high proportion of bad concerts as they got older (Blondie, GNR, Aerosmith - actually the Stones were well past it 10 years ago, nevermind today).
Time catches up with everybody, without exception. It was sad to watch 59 year old Mike Tyson box last year, and he used to be the strongest, fastest and fittest man on the planet.
And if we're honest, the reason the HIStory tour wasn't good enough was because MJ demonstrably was not able to sing live and dance at the same time, at age 38. Imagine how much better it would have been received if there was no miming and no theatrics.
