Ever since I got the album on May 13 I've been listening to the new versions non-stop and I absolutely love all of them. BUT now I have started listening to the originals and WOW so great too! It is hard to pick a favorite, but I have to say XSCAPE is a stand out. I remember years ago when I heard it on the internet, I was taken aback by his lower register voice on the two verses, and frankly did not care for it, :no:although I loved the rest of the song. But now that I've been listening to that song so many times those verses make sense now and they flow very well with the song.

So what are the elements or little things you love and appreciate about the original version?

I just love the atmosphere, the story it tells in your mind. the revving of the car that flows seamlessly (that is truly remarkable) with the song. when he says "you want me, come and get me". this song is truly so so good. :chillin::clapping:

How about you?

The instruments it self is M.J's trademark if anybody heard it in the street without vocals he must say its an M.J song .. i also like the end part u must stand up and dance to this part.

I love the original versions...I only listen to them...however, I wish they had included the "Gangsta" version by Timbaland that was available on utube since 2007...I used to watch it on repeat..LOOOOOOOVVVEEEDDD it! It was sooo cool! So fast, one couldn't sit still with it playing! Your body JUST HAD to move and groove with the beats!

And the video too was superb! It was a collage of Michael's videos--stage performances, 2005 trial appearances, official videos, etc.! It was just TOO GOOD! The rap too! But it's been taken off utube it seems! I can't find it anymore..does anyone know where to find it?

And thanks for starting this thread, tricia...I have been away for a long time from the forum...was trying to heal myself..hugs to you(())..and sending luv to your students! They have such a cool teacher :)

Yes, I did not care for this song as much as some other fans seem to initially, but since it grew on me and I find it great now. But the original is much better than the new version IMO.

^ Did Darkchild said those lines?

BTW i was a little suprised when i heard him on Privacy

I didn't like the updated version inititally, but I've grown to like it as a remix of sorts.

I didn't even know Darkchild made the original until this Xscape project started.

The beat itself sounded like something MJ produced (it sounded musically a little like They Don't Care About Us and such).

I love the original, though.
Wish Darkchild left in the "...gotta get away" by the girl part in there.
I do like he added MJ saying Rodneys trademark DARKCHILD shoutout :D

"You want me? Come and get me!"

Awww thank you Ankita that is so sweet of you to say - that just warms my heart. I just hope my kids remember what a good time we had with Michael and become great fans like we all are.

Are you feeling better now? :better: I listen to his music all the time and I feel him in each song. And every day when I listen to Xscape album I have this huge smile on my face. My nephew also just looooves it which makes me soo happy. :D

Yes, Michael is commanding love, respect and admiration from a brand new generation of fans..and that makes me so glad and proud of him  I have been an MJ devotee for 21 years, making sure all these years that I spread his Light by telling everyone what an amazing human being and humanitarian he was and how beautifully he taught us all by his own example the true meaning of L.O.V.E, compassion and courage...

I'm feeling much better now, dear..thanks..and hugs to you (:)flowers:))...

Just to add- my favourite song on Xscape is--'Do you know where your children are'..Only someone with a heart as genuinely loving, caring and innocent as Michael could create such a beautiful, heart-touching, meaningful song...love him forever...:chillin:

Amen to that!

You can actually hear why this song took about two years to complete. It is perfection! It is more full story than song. If you listen closely, you can actually visualize the story. I usually see this as a continuation of the TDCAU Prison version short film where the prisoners follow Michael to freedom.

I love the manner Michael sings this song; completely intolerant of those restricting him. He sings he will escape and I believe him!

I love the prisoners', prison guards, and female voice interludes. I truly enjoy the ending interlude where Michael and the prisoners (who also escape) are speaking at random. Those prisoners sound like Jerkins and maybe the other prisoner is his brother. (I have not read the liner notes as of yet.)

"Sometimes you just want to escape." want to escape

get out of here "got to get out of here"

Xscape

Ohhhhhhhh!
