Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - General Discussion Thread

Now Zakk, we know it's not the VHS you were pining after, but a DVD would suffice, no? :D

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - General Discussion Thread

We'll, I guess for now, that's the closest thing to a 'confirmation' we got. Nice. :D

[h=3]DIPLO AND A-TRAK TO REMIX MICHAEL JACKSON FOR PEPSI[/h] 02 May 2012

SKRILLEX-DIPLO-ATRAK.jpg

[Note to editors: The US label has confirmed, Skrillex is in fact not involved with the project as was earlier released.]

Pete Tong's prophecy is looking all the more likely. Diplo and A-Trak will remix Michael Jackson's 'Bad' for Pepsi. The remix package will be released just in time for the 25th anniversary of the album release later this month, and will be accessed through a special Pepsi-can promotion where fans can scan a code with their phone to hear a song.

Pepsi have revealed the multiyear global marketing campaign with the tagline 'Live for Now', featuring soundtracks by some of the biggest names in music today – including the campaign's front woman, Nicki Minaj.

Pepsi isn't the only fizzy pop with big budgets and an eye on music trends. Coca-Cola have previously got the likes of Daft Punk, David Guetta, Justice and So-Me to design special limited edition bottles.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - General Discussion Thread

I can't get my hopes up about the tour yet lol. They said the word tour though.:)

"and to put Michael on one billion Pepsi cans – perhaps a Guinness record,"

I like that idea... Not perhaps! Make it a Guinness record!!

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - General Discussion Thread

Don't wanna be a party pooper, but just because it said "celebrate tour", doesn't mean we're actually getting a concert release. I find it odd that we've pretty much got evertying confirmed now, exepct for a concert. IF a concert was to come, IMO, it should've been promoted as well in all of these articles, etc.

I mean, the concert is the biggest thing here.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - General Discussion Thread

No The Album is the biggest thing The estate is promoting - Thats what they are promoting The BAD album
A Tour DVD is an added Bonus and how else would they celebrate the tour except with a DVD
They said Album and Tour as in 2 things..

Myself im gonna celebrate .. :)

In a move not quite as dramatic as Coachella’s resurrection of Tupac, PepsiCo Inc. said today that it has collaborated with Michael Jackson’s estate to use the Gloved One’s image and his music in a series of new ads across the world.
The promotion will vary across the globe but will include Jackson’s silhouette on 1 billion special-edition cans as well as a TV spot, contests and the opportunity for fans to download remixes of some of Jackson’s top hits.
The Michael Jackson campaign also will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the “Bad” album and his 1988 tour, which the company sponsored.
It is part of PepsiCo’s “Live for Now” promotion, which Brad Jakeman, president of Global Enjoyment Brands and chief creative officer of PepsiCo’s Global Beverage Group, said was meant to highlight the company’s relationship with pop culture.
PepsiCo. is expected to release a TV ad featuring Nicki Minaj next week.
Larry D. Woodard, an ABC News columnist, and CEO and president of Graham Stanley Advertising, called the campaign “innovative.”
“Pepsi and Frank Cooper [its chief marketing officer of global consumer engagement] are not afraid to try new things,” he said. “He’s not afraid to try new and broad and big and bold strategies.”
Jackson and the beverage company have a relationship that goes back to 1983, when he and his brothers appeared in the “New Generation” campaign. In 1984, during a Pepsi commercial shoot that changed Jackson’s life, pyrotechnics accidentally set his hair on fire. Ten years later, he admitted that he’d been hooked on prescription drugs since the accident.
Laura Ries, president of Ries and Ries, an Atlanta marketing strategy firm, said that it made sense for PepsiCo to bring back Jackson, especially for the “Bad” anniversary, because fans were eager to revisit good memories of the entertainer.
“We all want to remember the Michael who was the ‘King of Pop,’” she said. “He’s very iconic. … Enough time has passed [since his 2009 death]. They will be excited to remember Michael Jackson and excited about Pepsi.”

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - General Discussion Thread

I mean, the concert is the biggest thing here.

Define 'biggest'...

The album is the 'biggest' thing here, that's the main release. The concert, from the tour that supported the album, is indeed the most wanted by fans, but it's not the main thing here. It's just related to the main project, which is Bad25.

We will get a statement from MJ Estate and Sony music in due time as well. Today we are just learning about Pepsi part of it.

Yeah. I think we'll be hearing more from them by next week... or at least, I hope.

great, when we get the statement from the estate and Sony music will it include the details of what will be released for the 25th anniversary of BAD?
