Thank you to our MJfanfam for spreading the word about "Remember The Time". It's all for L.O.V.E. pic.twitter.com/GIFnKVi6UH

Re This is the one

Knowing that how some people would be interested in above, I'll provide brief details below:

Bodyguards mention that Michael did not want to see his family - his orders. The only person he would see and could come unannounced was Katherine.

not really wanting to work with Sony and on Thriller 25. There's a story about Michael breaking Sony headphones. They say he didn't work on Thriller 25 with enthusiasm and did everything the last minute.

All This, plus the Tinkerbell from Ebay, The Prince, and the Spiderman story make me want to put this on my Kindle asap

I enjoyed that the Gards called him Mr Jackson through this book and yes I'm going to be buying your book.

Thank you for the review Ivy.

^^Thanks Ivy Do you think that conversational way in which they wrote the book would cause more people to buy it. It does sound like the type of book you can curl up on a couch and read in comfort.

I personally enjoyed that style which made it interesting to read.

Did a famous person or friend of Michaels's write the foreword or introduction?

Not that I can see.

When you got your advance copy, did you get information about any appearances on tv.

No I did not.

Are there more funny stories?

Yes several but I don't want to give much away at least for the time being.

It's interesting the publisher sent the book copies to the fans. Do publishers finally realize that without fans support books about Michael Jackson simply don't sell?

I hope what happened to Randall was a good learning experience, since the publisher did say he expected the book to go straight to a bestseller. I see a lot of authors reach out to fans about their books like Zack. I think we all heard the nose and surgery stories before and are looking for something different.

Re: Book: Remember the Time: Protecting Michael Jackson in His Final Days

Thank you, Ivy. Based on your review, I've decided to buy the book. This recounting of the final years sounds like it is concerned with telling Michael's story of how he lived, those final years. It is not exploitative, nor a hatchet-job, something that always concerns me when it comes to books about Michael. The guards are just telling their story without intent to hurt Michael's reputation, something other authors who didn't know him--like Maureen Orth, have done.Michael is a caring father, but also a depressed human being, dealing with so many things, his finances and fair-weather friends who ignored him when their support was needed. Michael did not abuse medicines to deal with any issue during the guards' time with him--something else that disproves so many talk show hosts descriptions of Michael being a fulltime addict... and these reporters' description of Michael as such was damaging, as well as untruthful.

I for one can't wait to read it. If I can get the money, I will buy this book.

How and where can you buy this book?

Do they ship international (assuming they ship from the US)??

When the ghostwriter reached out to me last year, that main concern was making sure that the FANS were considered first and foremost as this book was written not only for Michael's children but for us as well.

Thank you Ivy for your summary....we can always count on you to go out of your way for us fans..and I love you for that!!!. I am so pleased that they have painted Michael in such a positive light...its about time Michael gets something positive written about him. I can see parts of this book are funny while others are sad...IMO..THATS WHAT MAKES Michael human....and that is what he was...just human. I just want to thank these bodyguard fellows for being honest and sharing their experiences about Michael. This is a book I as a MJ fan will definitely be buying'...seems as though we have been waiting for so
Long for this book to be finished ...seems as though it was worth the wait. Thank you again everybody!! :)

Oh yes...I would also like to know who the "friend" girl is as well. She is one lucky chick....lol.

^^Don't you think "friend" was Michael's Middle Eastern girlfriend Paris mentioned? Freaking lucky indeed! :girl_tantrum:
Yes...that is exactly what I was thinking as well. Wish we knew who she was.....then again the poor girl would probably be harassed by fans...so better she stays anonymous.. Imo

When I first heard about this book I wasn't interested. But now reading the summary I want to get and support it.

I usually don't get books like these. I have gotten Joe Vogel, Michael Bush and Aphrodite Jones and Michael's books. I just want to know Michael the person. I don't need to know really private things and guess why he did things. Some people guess or were never around him. It's nice to see something like this get published and if it really is positive then I hope it does really well. I can tell that people still want to bring Michael down and be negative yet there are people willing to stand up for him when people would say they don't need to.

Re: Book: Remember the Time: Protecting Michael Jackson in His Final Days

I personally detest pornography. Like MJ would say about tabloids, "we should take all of it and set fire to it and make a bonfire!"

It also certainly clashes with the image of a very naive, very pure, very sex-shy MJ, that he himself liked to project to his fans. Like when he would refuse to even say the F-word, "because that's so bad". Turns out he wasn't so angelic...

MJ was a HUMAN adult MALE who never promoted anyone buying pornography or cussing so I guess we should all shoot him because his privacy was invaded and you don't like pornography! Michael didn't have wings but I never thought he did. What a monster he is for not living up to your standards.

I am going to get this asap too.. since I've read the review today.. I've been itching to read this book.

Michael goes to Walmart incognito when he was staying in Virginia. They get suspicious as his face was covered, cops were called and people were curious who that person is. Bodyguards say "It's Prince" to the cops and people around and they leave. Michael asks them what happened when they are in the car and they say we told that you were Prince. Michael laughs and say “No wonder they left us alone.”

This must have happened to him twice. The Nation of Islam bodyguard's were protecting Michael when this took place. Here's the story from 2004...

Police Question Michael Jackson In Glenwood Springs
Entertainer On Colorado Vacation With Family

9:50 AM, Mar 9, 2004

Entertainer Michael Jackson had hoped to spend some quality time with his children in a multimillion dollar compound in Old Snowmass, Colo., but ended up talking to police in Glenwood Springs this week.
According to police, Jackson, 45, walked into the local Wal-Mart at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday wearing a ski mask and that's where things went downhill. Employees didn't know it was the 'King of Pop' and thought they were being robbed. Police were called, but Jackson had already left the store by the time they arrived. An employee gave police a description of the vehicle and police stopped him for questioning. He told police he wore the mask in an attempt to remain incognito. The Wal-Mart is located about 30 miles from where Jackson is staying.

A similar incident happened Aspen, according to the Glasgow, Scotland, Daily Record. An employee of a camera shop said the was terrified when someone wearing a ski mask walked into the shop this week, the paper reported. It turned out to be Jackson. An assistant at the Ritz Camera store in Aspen told the Daily news: "When he first came in, I thought we were being robbed."

Jackson was guarded at a distance by Nation of Islam bodyguards. Jackson is staying at the Meanwhile Ranch in nearby Old Snowmass, Colo., with his children and plans to remain through the end of the month, according to sources. He's been there since Feb. 16. "He's on vacation with his children. There's nothing really happening other than he wanted to get away for a while," Raymone Bain, his spokeswoman, told the Aspen Daily News. "He's staying with some friends and having a really nice time there. The people there have been very nice and he's enjoying himself."

Jackson traded his digs at the Neverland Ranch for the 56-acre ranch estate that is on the market for $16.5 million. The estate can be rented for $125,000 a month, according a Web site advertising the property. The sprawling ranch assures Jackson and his family complete privacy and he has asked the media to respect his wishes in not wanting to be contacted. Nation of Islam security members are keeping the paparazzi at bay on the outskirts of the ranch. Jackson has been spotted browsing in Aspen, but has kept his visits low profile. He was videotaped in Aspen Tuesday, wearing a ski mask, orange hat, blue jumpsuit and silver moon-boots, according to CelebrityJustice.com. A mystery companion was similarly dressed, also wearing a ski mask -- though the boy's face was only partially covered.

The TV show "Extra" reported that the boy is Jackson's nephew.

Jackson walked into the Sharper Image store in Aspen wearing the outfit, surprising employees. A store employee told the Daily Record: "I had no idea it was him, but I did think it was a bit strange for someone to be wearing that outfit." The Aspen Daily News quoted sources who said that a notary public was recently summoned to the ranch to certify documents believed to be connected to a legal matter between Jackson and his second wife. Jackson and his ex-wife, Debbie Rowe, have let a retired judge negotiate between them amid claims she is seeking custody of their children Prince Michael and Paris.

Jackson is embroiled in a criminal investigation in California involving alleged lewd acts with a minor and has pleaded not guilty to seven counts involving the investigation.

I've really warmed up to this book and I will purchase a hard copy of it and a copy for my Kindle. I want to do my part to push this to become a best-seller.

I am looking to contact Bill and Jarvon for a MJJC Exclusive Q&A - watch this space.

^^Gee Michael had a hard time going to the store. He should just wear a full beard and sideburns rather than a ski mask.

Spyce Yes I want this book to do very well too, to serve as an example to future authors.

Michael needed more disguises like this one. If people hadn't tell on the documentary Bad25, that was him in disguise, I wouldn't believe it. I also found out the mayor disguise worked pretty well before Ghosts was premiered, he could drive unnoticed and could go for ice cream.

I've thought about this over the past day or so and decided I should get this book. I want to support the positive books about Michael. I wasn't going to buy any more books about Michael's personal life, but seeing as how scarce positive books are on Michael, I do cherish when one is written. I didn't see anything in Ivy's summary that looked controversial or questionable either, so I'm sure it will be worth it.

"One of the sad thing to read that there wasn't many friends or visitors that would visit Michael. They mention nanny Grace telling them some people wouldn't take or return MJ's calls after the 2005 trial. Book mentions Miko Brando, Eddie Griffin (comedian), Chris Tucker, Jesse Jackson and Cascios as people who visited Michael and/or Michael met with. He talked with Nelson Mandela on the phone several times. Eddie Griffin mentioned as a regular visitor, Miko Brando brought his kids to play with Michael's kids, Chris Tucker and Michael went to movies together and Eddie Cascio visited Michael in Vegas and Cascio house was the only place Michael would feel safe to stay without bodyguards in front of the door. Brad Buxer visited to work on music with Michael. (unidentified) choreographers were also coming to work with him regularly as well as a Chinese film professor from USC."

I would love to know the names that refused to take Michael's calls. TMezz mentioned that there were "friends" that didn't want to be called as character witness for Michael, but appeared on tv after his passing talking how wonderful MJ was. Someday somebody is going to slip the names and they'll get piece of my mind.

I hope it wasn't Liz, I'd feel disappointed but I know people have told stories of them keeping in touch even though they didn't/couldn't see each other. It was comforting tata Madiba remained friends with Michael and even if there were few people reaching out, I'm greatful they didn't leave him.

Do you mean Liz as Liz Taylor?
Liz T was very much on Michael's side

I can tell that people still want to bring Michael down and be negative yet there are people willing to stand up for him when people would say they don't need to.

I feel exactly the same... except I haven't decided to buy the book. I am so tired of the emotional roller-coaster I experience reading what people write about Michael. For me it detracts from experiencing his art and humanity and appreciating his love for his children.

I wish the boys well with their book, and I love the funny stories and appreciate Ivy and others for sharing them. I don't want to know about Michael's love life, because that is one area that I think should be left private for him, and any girlfriends should definitely be allowed their privacy too.

When I first (belatedly) became an MJ fan I bought anything and everything I could get my hands on... which meant a lot of wasted dollars for tabloid trash like Tarraborelli's book. It still hurts me to think that people Michael trusted with his and his children's safety should use their relationship with him commercially, but perhaps they feel they are doing benefit to his legacy.

About the other members of Michael's family I am not surprised at all. One thing I deduced not long after Michael died was that he wanted to keep the rest of his family at arm's length. The more I hear of/from Randy Jackson the more I am appalled by the man and his behaviour to both the court, media and with respect to Michael's children. Some family! (I think I'm echoing Paris'words on Twitter here when Randy, Janet and Jermaine gate crashed their way in to the entrance of the Calabasses house after their conspiracy to get Katherine away from the children.

One thing that does concern me with some aspects of these stories is that again they are opinions/recollections even though from first-hand observers. I don't think there can ever be a definitive version of Michael's life, because he was different things to different people.

At least thanks to Ivy's excellent review I can rest easy that this book is not another nasty hatchet job with little basis in fact (unlike some we could mention). So good luck to Bill and Javon - I hope their book redresses some of the gross imbalances in material on Michael currently on the market.
