I am so glad to hear this. I wonder why they waited so long, and I also am curious as to Jermaine's dealings with this man.

This is such awesome news and so needed after the past week of sad news. God! How I love John Branca and John McClain. They do Michael proud every day. I love these guys and MJ was right to leave them in charge.

Jackson estate sues former manager, claiming financial abuses in last year of singer’s life

By Associated Press, Updated: Friday, February 17, 4:41 PM

LOS ANGELES — Michael Jackson’s estate sued the singer’s former manager on Friday, claiming he lined his own pockets by persuading the pop superstar to sign unconscionable contracts in the final year of his life.

The lawsuit against Tohme R. Tohme came after more than a year of wrangling between Jackson’s estate and the former adviser who has claimed he is owed 15 percent of the more than $310 million collected by the estate since the singer’s death.

The lawsuit seeks the return of Jackson’s property and financial records along with damages and a ruling that Tohme is not entitled to any money from the estate.

The contracts involved a refinancing of Jackson’s debt related to Neverland Ranch and a producer’s fee that Tohme negotiated for himself for Jackson’s series of planned comeback concerts in London.

“This lawsuit is necessary to finally put a stop to abuse of fiduciary obligations owed to Jackson and seeks to unwind the self-serving and unconscionable agreements (Tohme) encouraged Jackson to enter into” and to compensate the estate for failing to return Jackson’s property, the complaint states.

Tohme’s attorney Paul Malingagio did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment Friday.

Tohme served as Jackson’s manager from January 2008 until March 2009.

Estate attorney Howard Weitzman wrote in a statement that he expects Jackson’s former manager to file his own lawsuit to try to gain money from the estate.

“We believe the facts will show that Mr. Tohme’s claims are meritless and that Mr. Tohme engaged in wrongdoing with respect to Michael Jackson starting early in their relationship,” Weitzman wrote.

The lawsuit states that Tohme forced Jackson to pay him a finder’s fee for introducing the singer to a group that saved Neverland Ranch from foreclosure. That deal earned Tohme more than $2.4 million and was just one of several deals he was involved in that the estate claims improperly benefited the adviser.

Tohme also negotiated a producer’s fee of $100,000 a month for the “This Is It” shows planned in London, although Jackson died before the concert series began.

The legal action also alleges that Tohme improperly signed away the rights to artwork created by Jackson.

Tohme told The Associated Press in July 2009 that he had turned over more than $5 million to Jackson’s estate that the singer had stockpiled to purchase a “dream home” in Las Vegas.

In September 2010, Tohme sought more than $2.3 million from the estate and claimed he was owed 15 percent of revenue from the film “This Is It,” which used footage from Jackson’s final rehearsals.

Tohme was credited as Jackson’s personal adviser in the film.

Michael Jackson estate sues former manager over contracts

LOS ANGELES — Michael Jackson’s estate is suing the singer’s former manager, claiming he mismanaged finances and made the pop superstar sign unconscionable contracts in the year before his death.

The lawsuit filed Friday in Los Angeles accuses Tohme R. Tohme of siphoning money for his own benefit from agreements for Jackson’s final concerts and the re-financing of debt on Neverland Ranch.

The suit also claims Tohme has refused to return Jackson’s property and financial records.

Tohme’s attorney Paul Malingagio did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment.

Tohme has battled for access to estate financial records so he can estimate how much he is owed.

Estate attorney Howard Weitzman wrote in a statement that he expects Tohme to file a lawsuit against the estate, but that his claims are meritless.

Finally! Thome has always been my nr1 concern asides Murray as to why Michaels life was full of chaos in the last months of his life.

So he was gonna get 15% of all what MJ earned!! A normal manager fee is between 5-10%. Now we understand why he pushed the 50 shows down MJs throat. The more shows MJ did the more money for Thome.... At first i belived mj wanted to do 50 shows but now i guess thome just gave him the contract to sign and MJ dident read it(as usual) and so he was trapped.

    Michael speaking about thome:

    http://www.radaronline.com/exclusive...ar-his-advisor

Recordings from Michael Jackson to his spiritual adviser June Gatlin indicate the Thriller singer was fearful of Dr. Tohme R. Tohme, the advisor he had appointed to preside over his personal affairs last year.

"He just has ways about him ... the things he's done," Jackson tells Gatlin on the tapes. "There's a divide between my representatives and I ... I don't talk to my lawyer or my accountant -- he talks to them, and I talk to him."

On the tape, Jackson revealed his concerns over Tohme's control over his finances.

"I know it’s not good -- I don't know what's in my account," he said.

Tohme, according to the Today Show, met Jackson through the late King of Pop's brother, Jermaine, when he was battling to keep his Neverland estate last year. He is not a licensed physical in the U.S.

Tohme said in a Today Show appearance two weeks after Jackson’s death that he was in control of the singer’s day-to-day life. According to the show, Tohme has been fingered in connection with many illicit real estate deals.

Jackson died after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest June 25 in Los Angeles; results of an autopsy conducted on the pop icon are being withheld by the Los Angeles Coroner's Office until the police investigation has been completed.

I need to see the complaint first. No media posted it yet and it's not available on court's website. But

    - remember Tohme is claiming the's owed money. so yeah this seems an action to stop that at least $2.4 M claim.
    - also MJ art is an element in Mann lawsuit and I think it was reported that Livingstone-Strong has plans to sell them. It seems to be to stop that as well.
