Any Insomnia sufferers

Hi all,

I decided to write this just to see if I can find people out there that relate and maybe I can find hope.. I have been a light sleeper for most of my life, the past 6 months I have been dealing with chronic insomnia. It is causing a deep depression, foggy brain, poor choices in judgement, speech problems, and it has gotten to the point that I am unemployed and basically incapable of work without sleep.

I am not sure if anyone on the board as conquored insomnia, but that's my life mission at the moment and I am just looking for someone to relate to.

I'm sorry to hear that you guys, I'm a nutrition expert and even i cant figure this out.. my body and mind is having a hard time keeping up. I feel like I'm going crazy
 
I have insomnia too since I work from 1:30 pm 11:30 pm Pacific Time. I would be online all night watching YouTube and play computer games until around 3 am to 4 am before I go to sleep. When I want to go to sleep, I would listen to these Calm sleep stories which really help me fall alseep in less than 20 minutes. Check out these free Calm sleep stories and download to your cellphone. Make a playlist for just one sound file so it will play only once when you sleep because you don't want your phone to be playing all the sound files for 5 hours.

I wishi MJ could have known use use these Calm files to help him sleep beside all those drugs Conrad Murray were giving him.

I suffer too.... as of right now, I haven't slept all night... it's horrible.
I have one advice.... sometimes it helps to drink a beer - (I know... right?) and then you can fall asleep....
try it...
 
For me, it has become a lot better.... but right now, I am having a lash back...

By the way, thank you SO MUCH for this thread... maybe we can help each other...

Actually stopped by the doctors office this morning, to get some medication.
 
Try not to panic, it only makes it worse....... I can write A LOT on this subject... but right now, I'm not in a good place.... totally insomnia here.... :(
 
My brother at times had trouble sleeping, I gave him a few tips to try to help sleep, but he always say "it won't work" and I mean how does he know? He never even tried them yet. I remember I had trouble sleeping during that August and before I turned 16 and I thought I cut back on Pepsi a little and because my mind was racing which is the reason why I couldn't sleep.

But when I can't sleep, I just keeps my eyes shut all night until I finally sleep even it takes a few hours.

True. He should at least give them a try, but it's easy to become desperate.
Good advice with the eyes, I will try that also.
I was also thinking, that you can drink some milk. Or an older family member said to drink some cream with some kind of liquor (that I don't remember) in it?

He's always so doubtful which really irritates me, if he doesn't try, well he's ignorant. That's also one of those I told him to try. I used milk on my Bailey's and Cabot Trail sometimes, I find they kinda neutralize the alcohol to me.
 
Well, then tell him to stop ever complaining, if he doesn't want to listen to your good advice. It's actually good advice...
Cream with Bailey's. I should buy some Bailey's...
 
I don't really like that alcohol is the solution... but it's better, than not sleeping.... it's horrible, to not be able to sleep....

KOPV, are you doing better?

Believe me he’s a chronic complainer, he complains over everything and he never listens to me.
 
I get insomnia from time to time. I can’t claim any definitive solutions, but it might be worth it to get a sleep study done. Also a couple things that have helped me is reading when I can’t sleep or meditating. And sometimes it’s all about changing your habits before bed, don’t use electronics, ect
 
I just need to find a good routine so I can beat the insomnia once and for all
 
I have insomnia too. I would go to work from 1:30 pm to 11:30 pm and I would go to sleep around 3 am or 4 am. I have tried listening to Calm sleep stories, and it really help. Tell how the Calm sound file help you sleep. I use the sound file every night to sleep much better. While sleeping I like to hear outdoor story of Yosemite, Mt. Shasta, Sequouia, then listen to Economics from Ferris Bueller's teacher (lol).

Hi everyone,

So I have been working with a high level insomnia specialist that is well known in my state. 3 individuals suggested working with him, 2 of them being doctors. 1 another insomnia specialist.


He has had me on a difficult protocol to change my mind and need of sleep by changing my biological clock by force.

I'm just getting into my second week of giving myself a 6 hour window of attempt sleep. Mine is 11:45pm to 5:45 am.. within that window I can try sleeping, if it takes me more than 15-20 min to fall asleep I force myself up and do whatever.. watch tv, read, lounge etc. Try to stay up, if my body cant take it anymore I supposed to walk back to bed and try to sleep again.

Once my allotted time is up (5:45am) I have to force myself up no matter how much sleep I got or didnt get. And all day I have to keep myself from sleeping..

Week one was hell, entering my second week I noticed it was easier to fall asleep but I'd wake up a couple hours later and maayybee be able to fall asleep a couple hours later until 5:45am.. a few times now I fell asleep and actually slept until the alarm woke me up.


Just as a reminder I have been dealing with insomnia for 8 months now and having a full night sleep was not a thing.. not for one night! I've had weeks of 1hr sleep, weeks of a few hours of sleep.. basically the highest number of sleep I've gotten in a night was reaching close to that 5 hr mark (which was awesome considering).. last night I slept for all 6 hours, that said i can say this protocol is actually doing something.


A couple weeks ago I told my mother that if I dont start getting sleep I dont think I'll be here for another 6 months.

I am a fitness and health specialist, am.fully aware of how to eat to keep my body from falling apart, yet I was due to lack of sleep. I lost 20lbs, my mind was foggy to the point where u was mixing events up - not sure if things happened today, yesterday, or when? My speech wasnt as clear and I was basically a shell of who I am.


For those who ste struggling i highly reccomend to find the strength in you to take a protocol like this a chance. If you have true insomnia, hard.. you'll be emotional at times but keep going
. FIGHT for it by giving into the protocol.


Starving yourself of sleep aside from JUST that window changes your entire thought of sleep, that allows you to start looking forward to lounging and getting rest instead of getting the usual anxiety when it gets dark stressing about sleep. plus by that time you are so drained it's hard to stay up.. also its training your body to 1. Appreciate the bed instead of it bringing you worry of tossing and turning. 2. You're body will relate those hours to rest instead of stress. 3. It is currently slowly helping me. I'm telling you, after 8 months, several doctors, personal knowlege and extra studying, spending thousands of dollars on co-pays, over the counter assistance (melatonin, valerian root, and others.), sleep masks.. you name it, I tried it.. even started smoking indica which has some help a little but emotionally pushed me.into a deep depression.. (I dont recommend)

KOPV, have you tried listening to the Calm sleep story I posted on top. It really help me a lot with my sleep. Just listening to the Sleep Story make me fall asleep much faster. Download and try the Sleep story I post above and tell me how it help you. Good luck.
 
I actually downloaded it but the files were not opening for whatever reason. I have listened to various audios to help induce sleep, I even got a sound machine that has like 25 different sounds to chose from.

I do appreciate you sharing for sure though

i am gonna try and do that method and see how it goes it must just work for me

Years ago, I had a BAD case of Insomnia too. For years, I took sleep meds till they wore off and so I tried natural things to see what would work and what not. Now, I can say I do sleep quite fine if I follow the same night routine I learnt to keep.

Some things to try out if you can...

Move house lol seriously, I sleep better since I moved.
‘Try to keep your bedroom decluttered and aired. If you can sleep with the ventilation on for more fresh air and oxygen.
I bought a new bed, I saved for a box spring (y)
I changed the direction in which I sleep that is now head is west so feet are east.
You have to see the door so that your brain is more at ease if you need to escape somehow.
Avoid any electronics in your bedroom that transfer signals so they can’t interfere with your own energy waves. :blush:
Personally, I don’t eat anymore after 9PM and only drink lemonade lol. In case I drink red wine, only 2 glasses later I fall asleep.
I can’t drink Camomile tea in the evening or 30 minutes later I fall asleep lol.
Last but not least, I have my star projector with different colours which calms down my brain and makes me sleepy.

Overall, just try to go to bed at a steady hour like every night at 11 PM and stick to that really. The same is for getting up at approximately the same hour so that your wake and sleep time is in balance.
‘Lately, I’m eating less sugar so that makes me sleep better too.

I think it’s not a textbook gospel here but it doesn’t hurt to try out different things that may break the cycle and at least give you a few hours of good sleep.

^ yeah well of course I considered it and there was stuff going on but 8 months? And honestly when I was up what was going on really wasnt on my mind.. it wasnt anything I've never dealt with before.

I think my anxious type personality just caught up to me, I come from a family that's pretty high strung.
