if you listen to this track on Siedah Garrett's 1988 debut album - Kiss Of Life
the track Baby's Got It Bad is Got The Hots.. just with different lyrics.. it's pretty incredible and a terrific find. It's a little known fact that Michael did some uncredited vocal arrangements on that album, previously we thought the song was K.I.S.S.I.N.G but this information appears to have been incorrect all along. it infact was Baby's Got It Bad.. makes complete sense too. listen to the track if you can find it. it's uncanny.

i have the album on CD.. some of the lyrics are the same "my body's aching".. etc the melody too.. and vocal styling..

it's so funny.. she obviously wrote that song with Michael's uncredited "guidance" and most likely after listening to Got The Hots..

GOT THE HOTS : 1988 Siedah Garret SONG???

I happen to listen the "newly" old track Got the hots, as a matter of fact it the same song available in Siedah Garret album KISS OF LIFE, the track is "Baby's got it bad". She's singing "my baby's got it bad tonight" instead "I got the hots tonight" but the rest of the song is pretty much the same.

The bass line and the melody are the same in both versions.

I know Mike/Quincy were the first on that one, Got the hots sounds like 1982 era unlike 1988 version of Siedah's.

Did Michael give it to Siedah?

Ok, found it!^_^
You can listen to short previews of the songs from the album on this site:D

What september_10 said about the similarity between Siedah's Baby's Got It Bad and Michael's Got the Hots is apparent. However, there is another song on the album which was originally meant for Michael.

Her album, Kiss of Life, includes a track entitled Groove of Midnight, which was an unreleased, but leaked, song (only demo) of Michael's...
The short snippet can be heard in the video below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gd8r.../michael-jackson-groove-of-midnight-demo.html

Jacksonvillage reports the following:

Groove Of Midnight (1987) (Rod Temperton)
Michael Jackson
Michael can be heard singing it a bit on a leaked snippet
from a recording session for the album BAD (1987)
  • (Cover Version, _:__) Siedah Garrett: "Kiss"
    (Album, CD, 1988)

I want to hear full version of both songs by Siedah Garrett

Listening to that short snippet of Groove of Midnight just reminds me of how beautiful MJ's voice is. His voice is just perfection, and the way he sings adds an extra dimension to the song and the lyrics as well as the melody which I think is what makes MJ's music stand out above all other artists.

Thanks for posting the link :)

Thanks for link:)

However, one thing is puzzling me...

Siedah Garrett was very tallented... good singer and good song writer... Why didnt she became famous? I mean big star? Plus she was working with MJJ, Number one in the late 80s... Thats strange:)

It does seem odd. She also had hits prior to dueting with Michael (Do You Want it Right Now and Don't Look No Further) Both these are still plyed on radio stations.

This was first discussed a few weeks ago by a guy called Blair on mjbackstage.be. No one seemed to believe him at the time that there was similarities with the song. It is uncanny but interesting. Siedah's songs good too.
