Called To Do Great Things - Who,Me ?

Michael Jackson: King of Pop; worldwide mega superstar; musical & artistic genius; phenomenal dancer and singer; greatest entertainer of all time; creator and producer of the largest selling album of all time; trailblazer; trendsetter; fashion leader; spiritual messenger; love guru; global humanitarian; philanthropist; donator of hundreds of millions of dollars to charities around the world; winner of more awards than anybody…ever! I’m certain I could come up with many more adjectives and titles to describe this man-wonder who left behind the largest following of anyone…ever…to continue doing his work in the world.
One of the things that impressed me the most about Michael Jackson is the way he never stopped pushing the boundaries, striving to go beyond the limits of anything anyone had done before, including himself! Great things? That’s just about all this man did for his entire life! From the time he was in diapers dancing and moving to the rhythm of the washing machine, until his untimely death last year at the age of 50 when he was poised to give us the greatest show …ever! He gave us nothing short of greatness, perfection, and magic in everything he did.
And he loved at the same level! No matter what the challenges he faced or the ridicule hurled at him from all directions, Michael Jackson never gave up his belief in the power of love. He gave all of himself in order to show us how to be the kind of people who could make a difference in this world. He believed in our ability to heal the world and he believed in us. What a remarkable gift!
Those of us who have experienced an awakening since Michael’s death last June have felt compelled to find ways to carry on his work. Not unlike his dedicated long-time fans, we heard the message, we received the invitation, we recognize the need and we are determined to keep his legacy of love alive. We know Michael’s dream of a world with no fear, no hurt or sorrow…for the children. We know that he lived for the children and that he needs us to take his place - to do everything we can to make his dream come true.
Michael’s love has inspired the discovery of new talents and breathed new life into old ones for many of us. We have been so moved by the staggering scope of gifts he shared with us while he was here, that we have achieved heights we never dreamed possible with our own gifts and dreams. Sometimes I ask myself if I am worthy of such a treasure, and I have to say, I’ve had my doubts. I have spent a significant amount of time on this 14 month adventure vacillating between feeling bold, confident, capable, and worthy, to then wondering if Michael and God really knew what they were doing when they recruited me! I ask myself, “How in the world am I going to do anything big enough to make a difference on this great planet? Could it be really me you’re calling to do this tremendous work? What’s the catch? Is there a punch line to this huge cosmic joke?”
I have struggled sometimes to understand what I was being called to do while on this journey of discovery about Michael. Many of my earlier poems reflect that struggle, because I just couldn't understand how little ol' me could make a difference - especially when compared to the difference Michael made. Nobody will ever come near to making the impact he did, just by the sheer number of people whose hearts he touched all around the world! If I allow myself to think about it too much, it becomes very overwhelming!
Well, along this path, I have learned a few things here and there about this recruitment business and I have come to realize that, first of all, I can't say 'no' to this calling - it's virtually impossible! My whole being has been changed forever and it's like my entire life - everything, good & bad, that's happened leading up to this point, was all in preparation for this moment in time! This is where I'm supposed to be and what I'm supposed to be doing from now on. This Is It! All I have to do is remain open to receive divine guidance and inspiration from God and Michael. (They're in this together, you know!) It's not too difficult when I put my mind to it and when I invest my heart and soul into seeking the truth. Every single time I pray about what I am to do to help heal the world, answers come to me, usually within 24 hours. And I know when it's the right thing for me - it just fits, you know? Like Cinderella's glass slipper - it will only fit one foot, and you know when it slides right on without effort, there is no question about it. It's crystal clear.
And these things that he lays before me - they are not small. They may look small to the outside observer, but they feel huge to me, because they are each and every one a very precious gift for me to experience the joy of doing something significant that touches another. Something that will make a difference in the bigger picture, whether it's for one individual or for many. By doing one "small" thing, it grows and blossoms as it ripples out to many others who catch the wave of love and are touched, directly or indirectly, by the light which is cast from its origin. Nothing we do with great love is small! That's the bottom line. And I believe that's what Michael was here to teach us.
There is also great power in numbers. There have been times when group projects have come to my attention and I will lend my own individual abilities to help put it together. One small part, but a team effort. Each part is just as important as the next, and if any part were left out, it could not be done. Working together on a mutually inspired project increases its value and its impact. As Michael sang so passionately in the powerful song We've Had Enough, "There's nothing that can't be done if we raise our voice as one!" When I think of what Michael left for us - all the people around the world who love him and believe in his goodness - we have a rich and fertile foundation of many who share a common belief and a common goal to carry on Michael’s work in the world, to make a difference in his name. Altogether, we are a powerful force for good which is bound to have a significant impact!
When individuals work on projects alone, they can share their ideas through the use of modern technology, providing inspiration for others to do the same. I have a friend who happens to be gifted not only in making beautiful videos about Michael, but also in coming up with creative ideas for projects she can do in her own community. I was intrigued with a particular project she worked on recently when she shared her video with me, showing what she had done. I was so impressed with this “small” project which was done with such great love, I knew immediately that this was something I would love to do, and I am planning to do it very soon in my little corner of Oregon. I also have made plans with another MJ friend in Oregon to meet half-way between our two communities and spend a day together spreading Michael’s love in this very special way.
My friend, Wednesday55, has given me permission to share her video with you here. You may have already seen it as it has recently been featured on the Tribute Portrait website and has been spreading among the MJ fan community on the internet. Take a look:
Now, doesn’t that just fill your heart with warmth and love? This idea - sharing pieces of Michael's heart & soul - his words, which were one of the most precious gifts he left for us - so simple, yet so profound!! What a wonderful tribute to him and a beautiful way to give some very blessed people an opportunity to have a glimpse into Michael's true heart and to feel his love! I just know Michael is grinning from ear to ear over this wonderful project being passed along from one to another and spreading with love around the world! By doing this, people who may not otherwise have noticed are unexpectedly receiving the gift of his brilliant light - his Divine inspiration!! How divine is that?
Sometimes we may feel that the “small” things we do are insignificant in the bigger picture, but when we perform a random act of kindness from our hearts with great love, as in this project, and when we share it with others via email, facebook, twitter, YouTube - any of the mediums available to us - there starts the ripple, and the wave of love & light spreads far and wide. Imagine for a moment the people who will stumble upon these little gems. Maybe one of the messages is found by someone who needed some extra love that day, or who had been searching for something to add meaning to their life, but hadn't quite found it yet. Upon reading this message from Michael, their hearts are touched by his words and they decide to find out more about this man, just as we all have done, and thus begins their journey back to their own heart and to a place where they can help others too. This is not small! This is how we as individuals and as a collective force for goodness and love, will make a difference in the world - and that is bigger than the moon and the stars!

Once again Elmira, you have struck gold. The article that you posted is from someone who has contributed to the project that I'm working on. Her words resonate with me very deeply. I could not have stated my experience for the last 14 months any better then what she has said. The video is beautiful. It is very simple, but yet the message is clear in that it's all about love. If we think about love in everything we do, everything else will come naturally. The poem was wonderful and was perfection. Michael used the word "perfection" often and this poem fits right in that category. Also, do you know who that little girl is in the picture with Michael? I've seen snippets of a video where she is running right into Michael's arms; what a wonderful sight to see. If you or anyone else knows, please let me know. Michael Jackson and Melissa at the Grevin Wax Museum in 1997
Sometimes you see a photo and you wonder what the story is behind that photo. Especially when the people in the photo are a little girl, beaming happily at Michael Jackson. What is the little girls name ? Why did she run towards him without any hesitation whatsoever ? Had the two of them met before ?
Very intriguing!
So I did some research and this is what I found:
Her name is Melissa and she met him outside the Musee Grévin (Grévin Wax Museum) in Paris on April 19, 1997.

After meeting the sculptor twice at the Grévin Museum between 1996 and 1997, Michael Jackson came to inaugurate his wax figure on 19 April 1997 at 11am.
Many fans gladly made the trip to welcome the king of pop. So many fans did, that the Grevin museum, in collaboration with the police , closed off the Grands Boulevards.
At 11:50 , a Renault Espace registered 415 ADB 77 parks in front of the museum . After greeting the crowds , signing autographs for more than 10 minutes , Michael and his entourage entered Grevin museum. The mime Marceau made a surprise appearance at the unveiling of Michaels wax statue. Marceau, in a performance dedicated to him , mimicked the work of the sculptor until, like magic, the wax figure of the singer appeared on stage.
Upon leaving the museum , all his fans are waiting for him . There are more than 15 minutes to sign autographs ( including one on the book of tickets).
A little girl, brought by her parents beyond the safety barriers , runs towards the star with a big smile and hands him a photo to be autographed . Michael dedicated the photo to her, kissed her gently on her head and she went running .
The little girl full of poise, went back , once, twice, three times. Among many laughs Michael Jackson eventually took her in his arms and waited for her parents to take a picture .
A beautiful moment full of tenderness and innocence .

Sometimes you see a photo and you wonder what the story is behind that photo. Especially when the people in the photo are a little girl, beaming happily at Michael Jackson. What is the little girls name ? Why did she run towards him without any hesitation whatsoever ? Had the two of them met before ?
Very intriguing!
So I did some research and this is what I found:
Her name is Melissa and she met him outside the Musee Grévin (Grévin Wax Museum) in Paris on April 19, 1997.

After meeting the sculptor twice at the Grévin Museum between 1996 and 1997, Michael Jackson came to inaugurate his wax figure on 19 April 1997 at 11am.
Many fans gladly made the trip to welcome the king of pop. So many fans did, that the Grevin museum, in collaboration with the police , closed off the Grands Boulevards.
At 11:50 , a Renault Espace registered 415 ADB 77 parks in front of the museum . After greeting the crowds , signing autographs for more than 10 minutes , Michael and his entourage entered Grevin museum. The mime Marceau made a surprise appearance at the unveiling of Michaels wax statue. Marceau, in a performance dedicated to him , mimicked the work of the sculptor until, like magic, the wax figure of the singer appeared on stage.
Upon leaving the museum , all his fans are waiting for him . There are more than 15 minutes to sign autographs ( including one on the book of tickets).
A little girl, brought by her parents beyond the safety barriers , runs towards the star with a big smile and hands him a photo to be autographed . Michael dedicated the photo to her, kissed her gently on her head and she went running .
The little girl full of poise, went back , once, twice, three times. Among many laughs Michael Jackson eventually took her in his arms and waited for her parents to take a picture .
A beautiful moment full of tenderness and innocence .

The Day I Sang On Stage With Michael Jackson
On July 11, 1992, Young Germany editor Alex Handcock was picked as one of several children to sing “Heal the World” on stage with Michael Jackson in Cologne. With Jackson’s untimely death, he remembers the day he took to stage with the King of Pop.
The anticipation had been building all week. Our teacher had told us we were going to Cologne to sing at a Michael Jackson concert. Our class talked of nothing else – we were going to sing “Heal the World” with the King of Pop.
Our school – the main English language primary school in the Bonn area – had been chosen as it was a melting pot of different nationalities. We had embassy kids and children whose parents worked for international organizations and multinationals from over the world. Our class was like a United Colors of Benetton ad, so we fit the bill perfectly for the make-the-world-a-better-place message in the “Heal the World” song we were to sing.
I sat on the coach on the way to Cologne as the class sang the “Heal the World” song again and again. I remember not knowing the words. I hadn’t really paid much attention to music up until that point in my life. I was 11 years old and associated music with pesky recorder lessons. Michael Jackson was someone I was only vaguely familiar with. But, by the time we arrived, I knew most of the song.

Arriving at the stadium
I spotted the Müngersdorfer Stadium in the distance. The bus was now inching along, carving its way through thousands of fans wandering across the road. Some had big banners. Others were dressed like their idol. And everywhere street vendors were hawking their memorabilia. I gaped out of the window and attempted to process what was going on.
When we pulled up into the backstage area, a hectic-looking man clutching a walkie-talkie greeted our teacher and signaled for us to follow. We snaked through corridors and up stairs, before arriving at a room. There, we were to wait.
When would we meet Michael?
We were in a spacious backstage room. It had several tables, each with piles and piles of chocolate bars. It was an 11-year-old’s dream. We set about attacking the food. I can not remember how much chocolate I ate that day, but such was the impression the chocolate extravaganza made on me, that even today, I can remember thinking that it was a shame we had to leave so much behind.
After what seemed like an eternity the door opened. We were all disappointed. It was not Michael, but instead a business-like lady who explained that we could not all go on stage to sing the song. They would select a dozen or so children and the rest could watch the concert.
“Is there anyone who would prefer to just watch the concert?”
Silence.
So we lined up; and in the cruel fashion we were already familiar with from playground sports, the lady proceeded to pick out the kids she wanted.
“The others were in floods of tears,” my classmate Sarah Jewer recalled.
Getting changed for the concert
Luckily for me, I was one of those chosen and was led away to the dressing room along with the others. There I was informed that I was to represent an American kid and was handed my “American outfit”. I quickly squeezed into my blue jeans, t-shirt and baseball cap attire and nervously looked around at my classmates who were sporting similarly clichéd looks.
When we finally walked out of the room and scurried across a stretch of tarmac towards the back of the stage, I was struck by how big everything seemed. That was small wonder as the Dangerous Tour had equipment weighing over 100 tons. Two Boeing 747 jets and multiple lorries had been required to transport this gear to the venue. Added to that, the sound of the music – even from behind the stage – was deafening. I began to understand what having butterflies in your stomach really meant.
Spotting Michael Jackson
I walked up the stairs with my classmates where we waited in an area to the right of the stage. The roar of the 65,000 sell-out crowd was incredible. We must have arrived in between songs, because suddenly, around 20 meters away, I spotted the man we had all been hoping to meet. Michael Jackson was there standing in the wings talking to what looked to be Macaulay Culkin, the actor from Home Alone. I bounced up and down along with my classmates, pointing and screaming stuff no one could hear over the music anyway.
When Michael Jackson was back on stage, I concentrated on remembering the instructions I had been told. Looking back, it wasn’t rocket science. At the time it required the utmost concentration: “Hold hands with designated partner. Move onto stage. Look forward and not at Michael, smile, and ‘sing’.”
Before I knew it, my classmate was tugging at my hand and we moved out onto the stage. I gazed out at the sea of faces and promptly forgot I was meant to be singing, or mouthing the words. Standing on stage in front of 65,000 people was intimidating to say the least.
My classmate Sarah, just two people removed from Jackson, recalled: “The crowd was mesmerising. Just so many people and so many lights.”
We moved clockwise around a huge inflatable globe; I ignored the “don’t look at Michael” instructions and turned my neck to try and catch a glimpse of the King of Pop. But I was on the wrong side of inflatable Earth to see him properly. My memories are of brief fleeting glimpses. Before I knew it, the song was over and I stumbled off stage glancing back to see the superstar.
We were whisked away, given a T-shirt and headed home. My classmate, who had been holding hands with Jackson, was the center of attention. She ran through a blow by blow account of her experience and pledged never to wash her hand again. I was jealous and exhausted. I fell asleep on the bus, wearing an oversized Dangerous Tour T-shirt

On July 11, 1992, Young Germany editor Alex Handcock was picked as one of several children to sing “Heal the World” on stage with Michael Jackson in Cologne. With Jackson’s untimely death, he remembers the day he took to stage with the King of Pop.
The anticipation had been building all week. Our teacher had told us we were going to Cologne to sing at a Michael Jackson concert. Our class talked of nothing else – we were going to sing “Heal the World” with the King of Pop.
Our school – the main English language primary school in the Bonn area – had been chosen as it was a melting pot of different nationalities. We had embassy kids and children whose parents worked for international organizations and multinationals from over the world. Our class was like a United Colors of Benetton ad, so we fit the bill perfectly for the make-the-world-a-better-place message in the “Heal the World” song we were to sing.
I sat on the coach on the way to Cologne as the class sang the “Heal the World” song again and again. I remember not knowing the words. I hadn’t really paid much attention to music up until that point in my life. I was 11 years old and associated music with pesky recorder lessons. Michael Jackson was someone I was only vaguely familiar with. But, by the time we arrived, I knew most of the song.
“Heal The World, Make It A Better Place, For You And For Me, And The Entire Human Race.”
Arriving at the stadium
I spotted the Müngersdorfer Stadium in the distance. The bus was now inching along, carving its way through thousands of fans wandering across the road. Some had big banners. Others were dressed like their idol. And everywhere street vendors were hawking their memorabilia. I gaped out of the window and attempted to process what was going on.

The first video shows Michael's speech about Heal the World's mission, in Sarajevo.
In the second video he walks away from the stage to sit down again
In the third video he signs posters for the children of Sarajevo.
He took an airplane full of blankets, toys and other necessities to Saravejo to alleviate the suffering of children in war torn Sarajevo. I wish the media would show these images time and time again to show the world what a remarkable man he was, just pure love!

Michael Jackson - Mesereau Stunned By Jackson's Compassion Towards His Dying Sister

MICHAEL JACKSON went from being a client to a friend of attorney THOMAS MESEREAU when he showed his famous compassion as the lawyer's sister was on her deathbed.
Mesereau admits he was both stunned and thrilled when Jackson put his own legal woes aside to offer his thoughts and prayers to Mesereau's dying sibling.
The attorney's 53-year-old sister lost her battle with lung cancer in February (05), prompting Jackson's child molestation trial to be halted, while Mesereau attended to her funeral plans - and the singer went out of his way to be supportive.
Mesereau recalls, "Michael was not only compassionate, he sent her the most beautiful and the largest bouquet of flowers you've ever seen.
"He wrote a little poem for her - it came from him and his children and it was one of the most meaningful things he could have done for her during her final days."
Mesereau admits his dying sister knew her brother's client would be vindicated: "One of her last messages to me was that she thought we were gonna win and I thought about her throughout the trial."

Michael Jackson: Remembering his Kindness and Compassion for Others
Today was a day well spent: surfing the web for articles about Michael and youtubing Michael for the most unique, rare, unseen images of Michael. And then I found this jewel with many never-before-seen images. He told Frank Dileo once, who accompanied him to the hospitals and orphanages "This is our real job, Frank , not the tour, but alleviating the suffering of these children and their family in any way that we can". What a unique, selfless, intensely loving and caring man. My example and spiritual teacher!
His smile is so beautiful and pure it lights up the room.
