He sounds absolutely NOTHING like Michael Jackson. That's the issue.

How do you explain that still so many people think they hear Cascio songs are MJ? When actually they hear JM?

Don't thank me... I was just commenting on Michael's work. What a genius he was, man. A real genius. It's just a shame more of us don't celebrate the man's work enough. You know, reading fans claiming that 'Jam' isn't 'political' and such... he was a political powerhouse!

Singing 'They Don't Care About Us'*in the “Largo do Pelourinho"? The same spot where slaves were whipped and tortured by their masters? The man was a GENIUS! A certifiable genius.

Indeed, but people still haven't discovered at what extent.

I even think of him sometimes without exaggeration as a misunderstood modern times messiah:

-He gathered nations
-He preached love
-He was extremely respectful showing the good example
-He was a hardworking perfectionist sharing his magic with us making us believe that anything is possible to achieve if we believe in our dreams
-Some people who were touched by his magic were even cured from grave illnesses
-He loved people
-He unconditionally loved children and was forgiving
-etc.

-After his death, his community is not one but is dividing slowly. The same happened with many religions after their founder passed away.

-Thos who try to milk people thanks to Michael Jackson's name are the same as those who sell religious paintings and items using biblical, koranic, budhic or hindu scripturs and religious figures in front of the temples. And we, the followers, are buying.

Agreed. it sounds nothing like him. it sounds like someone trying to sound like mike, sure.

why do so many people think it's mike on the cascio tracks? b/c that's the point. you're supposed to think it's him. but it's not . . .

It's inexplicable. Completely impossible to explain. To me he sounds ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like Michael Jackson.

I believe that if there are small parts of MJ singing in those tracks were enough to convince some people that the entire tracks are MJ's.

Great post and I agree 100%. The only difference is that I'm not buying :) Will.I.Am was spot on - didn't he give us enough in his life??

You can understand why some members of his family believed he actually was the archangel Michael :) You've got to love a man like that. Look at the bullshit celebs of today flaunting their booze and their ho's and their gold... then compare them with the greatest entertainer of all time winning his awards and walking up the stairs with his hands neatly clasped behind his back. What a man he was...

Well, we must admit that at some points Malachi does sound like MJ. I am not saying throughout the whole song, but there are some moments you would swear it is Michael, especially to people who don't know Michael's voice as well as we fans do.

^ Sorry I just don't hear any resemblance. With Michael... there are trademark gestures, something I think Corey Rooney mentioned. You know, you could almost always hear his breath on the track. Finger clicks. Nasally vocal runs. Humming through his nose. Almost always. EVEN on the one-take tracks that we've heard. 'Fall Again', for example, is recorded in one-take. Listen to the intro vocals... 'hmmmmmm owww whhhyyyy... (breath)'. That's classic, definitive Michael Jackson. In one-take.

So in an unconscient way brains and what is linked to them (ears) fill in the missing parts? Maybe it's possible, "filling in missing parts" happens in other physical and neurological processes too. Hallucinating, isn't it?

Hallucinating would be too strong.

I would compare it rather to something like this. When you read you actually don't read letter per letter. You read what your brain interprets it is written based upon its stored data of words you already know. Sometimes even the brain makes mistakes. Hence you mistake one word for another.

The sam egoes when you speak. You actually don't speak in a broken up manner word per word, but segment per segment. For example when you say "get up", it doesn't sound as two words, but as one, even though two words are written.

Here is a text, try to read it quickly. Apparently only 55/100 people can read it quickly. This might explain why the opinions on the Cascio tracks seem divided at such extent, all is a matter of how your brain analyses the letters, the sounds, and the reality around you:

I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. This is not Michael Jackson singing on Breaking news, Monster and Keep Your Head Up.

So true. Also to me he is a spiritual Teacher.

Hm, the selling of things in front of tempels is not always a bad thing and you know that, but I understand what you want to say.
I have things that I cherish so much, bought in the patio of a "tempelish" house in Africa... I think that money was used in a good way too, there in that community...
But unfortunately it is not always like that.

I just remember the scene that I read in the Gospels when Jesus was angry at the sellers in front of the temple and he went on and overturned their merchandise.

Amazing, reading that text. And my English is not very good at all but I read it all and rather quick. Except iproamtnt haha, important. And I smiled for "awlyas", made me think of an Arabic word I know.

Yes, who knows if that happens also with reading a voice...
Scientific question...

Yes, that scene I know, I had a very Catholic education ;).

Well, as you can see, the words contain huge spelling mistakes, yet your brain reads them as if the spelling mistakes were not important.

Now, we can imagine some Michael Jackson's vocals on Cascio tracks replaced 50% and more by another singer and arranged in such a manner that some people hear it is not Michael, while others hear it is Michael.

As a result we are in a dead-end situation where we might both be right but can't prove anything.

For example the same goes for your word that you had difficulty to read:

"iproamtnt" - I will claim that it says "important" even if I have no proof it is written "important", while you will stick to the official version and say :"no, it is not written "important" it is written "iproamtnt"". And we could endlessly debate.

Seems logical, except one thing : I read the right words but I didn't see them right. I was conscient that there was "iproamtnt" and not "important". So ... it was in the first place about the meaning of the words that is filled in, not only about the characters in the words.
It's not a good comparision. The vocals-thing is not about missing vocals to make a lyric with meaning or to make a melody. It is about how they sound.
A more sophisticated way is needed than comparision with our funny puzzle text :).
I had fun with this anyway, it was welcome :).

Have a beautifull night ;)

Guys, thank you so much for the last few posts. It's so interesting to read. Wow... simply wow. What a great way to spend my time on a snow day.

Sam, Bumper, Michael is indeed a genius, such an underrated and misunderstood geunius. Thank you so much for your posts. When I first became a fan, I was attracted by his beautiful singing voice, his amazing dance moves and his gorgeous smile. I was a teenager back then, little did I know what a great man I have been a fan of. The more I learn about him, the more amazed I am. He's a never-ending study. The depth of his talents and wisdom is bottomless.

Sam, thank you for the link to the Black or White article. Black or White is special in my heart; for, it introduced me to Michael. I can't believe I missed so many details (the panther significance, the George Washington statue, the first verse) of the song and the video. Black or White is a masterpiece. Thank you for enlightening me!

^ Ah don't mention it. Shall I show you something REALLY amazing???

You guys may not be aware but I'm a multimedia designer. I put the following graphics together.

You think Michael was a genius... you should see how much of a genius this man was...
