I guess by that statement that means that Johnson is OUT.....

This will be good for Michael's legacy in the long run... I hope that in the future Michael's name will be associated with "charity" rather than "child abuse". He deserves to be remembered as the philantropist that he was :)

again, no suprise whatsoever. i should be used to this kind of filmsy statement from the Estate by now.

still, no information on what Melissa Johnson's involvement going forward. no information on what the Estate gave for a settlement.

i guess the word 'transparency' is not in their vocabulary.

If they want us to take HTW seriously then they need to be seriously honest with the people who will be donating to it.

The don't have to have transparency about everything. That has got to be understood and accepted.

And again, why can't people wait to see what will really be done with HTW? If they do indeed activate it, then people would have a right to know some things. But, give them the chance to even get there first. The case was just resolved.

I don't think we can assume that she is not on the board. TMZ is a tabloid, but sometimes, they are RIGHT. She may well be on the board of directors, and unless a statement is issued that she isn't, we really don't KNOW.

As far as her reputation is concerned? If she was worried about that, she wouldn't have made the statements she's already made. I expect she got paid-off for those trademarks. As far as the board is concerned, as part of the deal? We really have no way of knowing.

MJ fans who got to know all these mess won't give money to the charity if she is around.
Branca should be smart enough to know this.
I hope this settlement can help them take down Mann.

Michael Jackson's Estate has taken back all rights to the Heal the World Foundation

It will be re-activated and directed by John Branca, John McClain and Katherine Jackson

I am told Howard Mann will no longer have any role in the HTWF.

Details still being worked out with Melissa Johnson, but she no longer has any rights to Michael's name or the charity

HTWF will now have a much broader reach and impact. It will be one of several charities that benefits from Michael's Estate

Estate wants to get the Foundation "jump started" again so it can do what MJ intended it to

I thought the statment that is just posted is all the Estate has to say at this point. If not, then I apologize and admit I jump to conclusion too quickly.

It will be interesting to see how Mrs. Jackson reconciles her previous statements with this outcome if all this that has been reported is true. If HTW is re-activated, surely she is not going to want people to think that she is working closely with someone Michael feared and felt possibly cheated him.

I am glad about the Mann part if it's true.

As for Johnson, so this means she is not really out.....

Ha, I guess if they really want to rebuilt this HTWF, the first thing they need to do is try to get her out. lol

I doubt any fan will donate unless it's CERTAIN that Johnson is out. "Details" with her still being worked out, doesn't actually SAY that she is not on the board. Now does it? If they really want to reactivate the charity, I think they should issue a statement that she has NO part in its operation.

If they are serious about the charity, then they need to be very transparent. If you take a look to the annual report of any reputable charity or any public company, the persoanl information (including name, year of birth, qualification and experience) of all board members and officers is disclosed. Such information is considered public information.

Anyway, is asking what the Estate settle with Melissa Johnson for too much to ask? Many people here have expressed uneasy feeling if Melissa Johnson still has a role with the charity. So, many here would appreicate a more infomative statement regarding the details re Melissa Johnson.

Since Melissa Johnson no longer owns the trademarks and details are STILL being worked out with Melissa.. the best would be if they just screwed her over and delayed all negotiations with her... LOL.. one can dream

The Estate may not be seeking donations for a newly activated HTW. We need to keep that in mind.

If the Estate can use the HTW foundation for good, then so be it. Charity is what will count in the end and the Estate would make sure that that is what is done through HTW.

I'm sure when the time comes for more transparency that is necessary to upheld HTW, then the Estate will give such. But, that time is their decision.
Remember that we don't like people other than the Estate acting as if they have a right to Michael's name, likeness, etc. Well, we as fans will also have to remember that we don't have a right to all of his Estate's business either.

So it sounds like...

The estate paid Melissa Johnson and Howard Mann and told them to beat it. It was all about money anyway folks.

Hopefully Heal The World will be used to distribute funds to other charities as Michael originally intended.
