Michael - The Great Album Debate

So, is it CONFIRMED that a line from Monster is used in the Immortal show?

there's a video and I asked members who were there on the opening night. the line "the king .. king .. king.. the king.. has risen" is being used. and pentum heard "ha" being used as well.

Because if it is, it annihilates two other assumptions often held by the anti-Cascio people :

1- That the Estate and Sony were fooled, and realized their mistake too late. Obviously, if they now believed the Cascio tracks to be fake, they wouldn't let a single second from them be used in the Cirque show.

2- That the Estate, Sony and the Cascios all conspired to fool us. Because they wouldn't then push their luck by allowing the same controversial songs on a second official project.

well in the dress rehearsal that the fan representatives attended part of breaking news and monster was present. so it's apparent that they have no concern about reusing the Cascio songs (or even releasing the other ones). They were only removed after the fan reps told how they felt about the songs.

My personal opinion (added with the fact that Sony is quite determined about the leaks) that those songs will eventually be released somewhere down the road..

And those who think that the fact they're only using one line from 50 Cents' rap means they think the vocals are fake : even if they're only using one second from the track, Cascio and Porte will still be credited and paid, just as they would be if the whole song were used.

r u sure? I remember monster rap to be separately registered but I can't remember if Cascio//porte was credited. damn the copyright website is down so I can't check it.

What do you mean? As in registered to Sony or The Estate instead of Cascio/Porte because it was added later?

Actually, going by the comments made by the fans that were at the preview and looking at the videos of the show, I think it's possible to ascertain what was and wasn't in the show. The opening line from Tabloid Junkie: "in the news today from the strange and weird factfile" is used as a lead in to Privacy and then TDCAU. Really low down in the mix, to the point that it's almost impossible to hear, you can just make out a tiny bit of the opening voiceovers from Breaking News. From what I understand, those voiceovers were originally prominent before the feedback from the fans at the preview prompted them to use the Tabloid Junkie line instead, leaving the BN voiceovers there, but way down in the background. I don't think there were ever any Breaking News lead vocals in there. And as far as Monster goes, all that is used is the "ha", which I believe is sampled from Unbreakable and one line, as stated by Ivy, from 50's rap. Again, no lead vocals. The rap lyrics were written by 50 cent and recorded after Sony had the tracks. I doubt he's ever even met Eddie Cascio. So no, Cascio/Porte won't receive any royalties at all.

Last night, I sat down and listened through everything again. I didn't listen to any Michael, any Jason or any comparisons. I put all the other stuff thats been discussed to one side and concentrated solely on the vocals. I was left feeling, frankly, confused. Listening to the vocals from tracks such as Water, Ready 2 Win, Burn 2Nite, Alright, and particularly Fall In Love, I just can't see how anyone, especially Sony who paid money for these songs, could think it was Michael. I had someone else take a listen, who has no knowledge of this debate, no knowledge of Jason and wouldn't have a clue what a "Cascio track" is, but does hear a lot of Michael via myself. I asked what they thought of the songs (the ones above were the ones I played) and their response was: "They sound ok. Bit out of tune. Who is it?" "Who do you think it might be?" "Sounds like a youngish bloke impersonating Michael Jackson and making a crap job out of it." "These are actually official Michael Jackson songs." "They must be desperate."

as in registered to "curtis jackson" - 50 cent's real name as he's the one that wrote the rap. I don't remember if it had any other people listed though.

I will try to check it monday when the copyright website works again

Sorry, but you use the word annihilates, and then make 2 points based on speculating their motives, with such weak points it doesn't annihilate anything.

i know what u mean . . . i hardly ever listen to these tracks, or the comparisons. I listen once, when they are leaked, and then not again. anytime i DO go back for a listen, i am honestly more blown away each time. it sounds less like mj each and every time i play it, to the point that i actually feel like laughing. too bad it's not a joke--this really happened.

also, just wanted to say to some people (not u stella!)--don't know if you are aware, but u should try to avoid multiple multiple posts in a row. if you realize u forgot to say something, u should just go back and edit ur last post. just forum etiquette. :)

Can you provide a link tg one of the youtube videos where Breaking News is used and tell me at what point exactly it appears cos all I hear is "in the news today from the strange and weird factfile" which is from Tabloid Junkie, followed by Privacy then TDCAU. And I see that in another thread you have already been warned about spreading such false information.

So to make it clear to everyone who may be worried: BN is NOT in the Immortal show.

Here is Breaking News skip to 8:00 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1O9CNNZe0d0

Here is Monster http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHsYkuSD4oU

Now listen carefully

Ahh...loved that! So great to see him working on songs and getting all into it and getting little glimpses of how he works.

Billy Bush:"So, you decided to get back into making music"
Michael: "I never stopped".

:D

@ADKIc3mAnX

So you see no reason why not to think it's Michael. Ok...but I'd like to know how you'd feel if it, indeed, turned out to be someone elses voice. Not talking about how you'd feel yourself about your mistake, but how would you feel about that someone did this to Michael? Can you understand the underlying emotion with the 'doubters'?

I don't choose to hear songs on 'Michael' that aren't sung by Michael and getting the feeling 'believers' (and spouse too

And what fact do you have to prove it is Michael Jackson?

Like I said what makes it a fact is that it was used on a Michael Jackson album and MJ was credited and it was registered under MJ's publishing company that ONLY publishes his songs and by you saying it's not him that is your opinion not the fact causefacts are what it says and let's be serious do you think MJ's Estate will risk so much by publishing fake songs ?

And experts, friends, producers have all confirmed that it is MJ

Sorry, it's not a reason for me to not go see the show or to not get the album just because some guy goes "In the strange fact files today, Michael Jackson sleeps in a hyperbaric chamber..." Or whatever the line is. Most likely that was not even a part of the original Breaking News demo Eddie and Porte worked on.

That part is not from Breaking News but the intro is mixed with Breaking News and it goes well with the song

All right, it's because it's written that it is Michael Jackson. Ok, end of controvesry.

OK, there's the VERY beginning and VERY boring 30 second bit of Breaking News, but only 3 or so seconds of that. DOESN'T COUNT.

There's only a line of 50 Cent's rap and two ad-libs from earlier songs. DOESN'T COUNT.

Sorry to say, but the Cascio tracks play NO ROLE WHATSOEVER in this show. 50 Cent plays a role in tribute and the fine people who lent their voices to the beginning of Breaking News are in there as well, just a LOT less prominently. Ergo, no trace of Cascio vocals, leaving the fanbase ecstatic. So huzzah!

Oh, and: WOOOO!!!!! PRIVACY'S IN!!!!! :D A much better song than Breaking News and Monster!

@ADKIc3mAnX: You haven't answered my question yet. Did you know that they used words from earlier MJ songs to insert into phrases to Michael it up? Case and point: "Why" and "Me" in the phrase "Why can't you be stalkin' me?" and "Why you haun'in' me?" in Monster are from "Why can't you feelin' me?" from Invincible?

Blog with the most interesting comments regarding the Cascio songs.

I especially liked the things Cory Rooney and Tony Kurtis had to say. It's on page two.

I guess most of you already read this, because I came across one or two quotes before in threads, but I never read all of them. So here they are all together in one blog.

Who do you believe? What makes most sense?

Many have but Sony, Epic Records, The Michael Jackson Estate have taken them down to protect the songs and they don't want another Hold My Hand leak

Despite the fact that they do nothing to remove songs such as Slave To The Rhythm, Blue Gangsta, DYKWYCA etc. They only go after Cascio songs. It's called damage control.
