Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I'm very pleased with logo design for 25th anniversary of album BAD. :)

I like the crown - I think Michael is a BAD Ass King .. kicking butt, The King slayed in BAD concerts and took no prisoners.
Royalty can be BAD ass too... Its just shows WHO's BAD and WHO'S KING. :) There is bad and then there is KING OF BAD !
A brilliant comment! :)

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I'm not particularly liking the logo, but we haven't seen it in use yet. It won't be used on its own. Against the visuals of the materials they intend to release, it might not look too bad... Personally, it's not a damper on the anticipation and excitement I have for Bad 25.

Anything creative is apt to subjective interpretation, so it's not surprising that some like it or hate it. A 100% consensus is nearly impossible to achieve in general, let alone creative work.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I think we will be getting some remixes, they always do that, but i don't care as long as they release 4 or 5 unreleased songs, then it is ok!

Oh, and I'd probably kill myself if Justin Bieber shows up in this album!

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I like the graffiti added stuff. IMO looks cool and its simple. I'll follow this thread, looking forward for more info 'bout this.

^Nothing is wrong with the website. It is loading as normal and is advertising the Immortal tour. We just have to be patient

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

So the Estate finally confirmed an album with a coinciding DVD?

no, not yet. they just acknowledged the logo after the fans posted the trademark registration for it.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

Spike Lee himself said he was working on that documentary via twitter, Joe Vogel is involved too.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I just want to hear Michael. I don't want to hear anybody else. If he was here and picked people himself then I would be okay. My opinion is that the should release it and put the songs that were considered for the album but were not chosen and we never heard before. How many songs did Michael write and record for this album? I don't know what will happen but just thinking about Bad 25 gets me feeling emotional right now.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

i like the logo...seeing the HQ version is very exciting. i'm more of a technical realist viewer, i love how they kept that airbrushed design (it literally looks like it was spraypainted) and also love how the black looks like a permanent marker

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I hope they will release it with the intro of "I Just Can't Stop Loving You". Michael's voice sounded so beautiful and soothing, I think it's a shame it was removed. And I also hope they will keep the already released bonus tracks "Streetwalker", "Fly Away" and "Todo Me Amor Eres Tu". They became part of the album for me. But I hope they will not add any Quincy Jones interview this time. The only man I want to hear speak when I'm listening to a Michael Jackson album is Michael himself! And since nowadays Quincy Jones is hated by most fans, the mere sound of his voice is frustrating...

Not interested at all in remixes! I wouldn't pay for that if they were sold separately, so why would I want them on the album? No thank you! I want some nice unreleased songs and demos, and they better not remix those too!

Spike Lee Making Doc For 25th Anniversary Of Michael Jackson’s “Bad”

spike-lee-man-in-the-mirror.jpg

...Spike divulged how he’s had some of the greatest times of his life in Brazil like when he shot They Don’t Really Care About Us with Michael Jackson there. He provided a couple of MJ anecdotes and a short impersonation of MJ’s “falsetto” voice and his “serious/angry” voice. It was funny. I don’t know if he actually hedged on this answer because the film will be a touristy piece showcasing Brazil or if it will actually broach the subject of inequality, but he got distracted by his MJ anecdote.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

It would be very nice tho if they do a wembley show, but during smooth criminal, they edit out the wembley version and add the live vocals version from MSG! :D
I never heard Smooth Criminal ever be sung live once in my life

The logo is okay, but part of me feels that the crown doesn't really fit the "bad" theme.

I agree with that. I think Michael is the king but I kind of feel it juvenile that they include a crown in everything they release with his name after his death (eg. the "Michael" album cover and now this). Having said that I don't care much about the logo if the material is good.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I want the second leg of the BAD World Tour show to the fans.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I'm just making this up but what would you prefer?

1. 5 unreleased songs from the Bad sessions. (The album doesn't go to #1).

2. 1 unreleased song from the Bad sessions and 4 remixes of songs in the Bad album with artists: Justin Bieber, Adele, Katy Perry and Kanye West. (The album goes to #1 and the remixes chart in the top 10 singles chart).

In my opinion, number ones are not everything.

I would prefer massive commercial success on the singles chart and considering all the BAD material is 25 years old, that won't happen unless songs are remixed (like elvis 'a little less conversation') or contemporary artists are added to the song kinda like WBSS. sadly an unreleased mj track will not achieve massive success in it's pure form. The effect of singles success would hopefully be a successful album. Mj need success to continue the legacy

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

Maybe they will release the documentary of Michael recording Bad on the DVD with the Bad 25 cd (like they did with Thriller 25 i.e. CD and DVD).

I can access it with the language of my country though.

I agree that remixes or new versions with contemporary artists would be the only way to get a successful single. A 25 year old song wouldn't be a hugely successful single, no matter how good it is. But does Michael really need more number one albums and singles? He has already had all the commercial success anyone could hope for, he's already had the number one singles and albums. I don't think he needs to prove anything to anyone.

I'm not necessarily against remixes or songs featuring other artists, but I think the featuring artists should be chosen very, very carefully. They should actually be talented, not just currently popular. I don't think remixes with popular but only mildly talented artists would be a good idea, no matter how successful the single might be. Because it's not just about commercial success and being hot on the charts for a week or two, it's about a lasting artistic legacy.

A song featuring a currently popular artist would probably also sound dated very quickly. The pop music world changes so fast, someone who's the hottest artist one day might be a has-been the next day. I don't want an album or a single that's good enough for the moment, I want something that people will still listen to after 25 years. A song featuring an artist who's currently hot but who has little talent would sound ridiculous after that artist has faded into obscurity.

I see your point... but walking down streets in BK, you often see these crowns on graffitis. And they are very similar to the one on the BAD logo. lol

I have seen so many "crown" on random graffitis.... So they might have gotten the inspiration from both MJ being the KING and real graffitis. So the crown doesn't make the BAD-theme any less credible.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

The remixes will be done and will be released on Bad 25. That is not a question. The only thing we don't know is who will be making those remixes. I would like too see people that worked with Michael doing that remixes and not someone who never worked or even talked to Michael. I don't have anything against will.i.am, Akon & Kanye coming back for Bad 25. I would like RedOne and Jay-Z to join the team. Also I don't have anything against Quincy doing some remixes with someone like will or RedOne. There were some talks about Quincy doing Off The Wall 30, but after that project was cancelled he could do this project instead. I would prefer Quincy being executive producer over John McClain.

I think that album could have massive success like Thriller25, it surprised all, including critics and reporters..., and now, Billboard allows all albums top the official album chart so.... lets buy BAD25 rather than single-s

We don't know for a fact that there will be remixes. We don't know what form any potential release will take yet as no details have been confirmed.
