Wembley DVD content - discuss Michael, his concert and performance ONLY [discussion ]

Re: BAD 25: The Original BAD Tracks CD 1 [Discussion]

Did Smooth Criminal sound like this in the first original pressing of BAD in 1987 on Vinyl and CD?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CUETYqOTBs

I feel like this 'Radio Edit' version sounds, if not better, a least good as the version in BAD Special Edition 2001
and BAD 25 2012. You can tell that are difference on how they sound.

One more thing that I have noticed is that in the back cover on BAD Special Edition 2001 it is written
Copyright 1987, 1993, 2001. Where did 1993 come from? Is that the year where it got its next remaster
after the first CD remastering back in 1987/1988? Or perhaps it was the year when the spanish version of
IJCSLY was released? I actually saw the same copyright year 1993 written in Spotify version of BAD 25.

Re: BAD 25: The Original BAD Tracks CD 1 [Discussion]

@qbee: Unfortunately they totally RUINED the re-issued "spoken intro" version as there are severe master issues with it, the music plays very odd. I wonder why not many seem to have noticed this. The sound quality is HORRIBLE.

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

I felt bad but some of the songs that the Bad band were playing I didn't recognize. I got maybe 2 or 3 of them. That Greg is funny and I watched how he interacted with Michael. I loved the little thing they did. I am glad he is part of Cirque and some of the back up singers were in Bad were in This is It too I think. I missed the lean in Smooth Criminal lol. I was waiting for it and then it was just dancing I was like oh well. I am glad he added later on in other tours.

At work today I was just going on and on about the concert and some people looked at me like I was crazy. I didn't care lol. Everyone should watch this. I can see why Michael maybe didn't want to put Dirty Diana in there because Princess Diana was there but I am glad he did and I am sure she was too lol. Michael had sex appeal. The media and others didn't want to show that. The way he sang and moved on stage. Women and men were mesmerized by him. I think we did see little glimpses of his shyness and I liked that too.

I am not sure how much footage they have seen of Michael but I hope his kids get to watch this concert too. I think they would like it too.

yes, same with DBMR on that cd. It seems the cd was "mastered" by a non-mastering engineer.

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

I find it sad this thread has less posts than the quality one. This is more important.

Re: BAD 25: The Original BAD Tracks CD 1 [Discussion]

Yeah, I miss him too. :hugs:

I just listened to the original version of I Just Can't Stop Loving You. I can't believe it was 25 years ago  Where does the time go?

Oh yeah, regaring the part I bolded. I hadn't remembered about Dilieo and the breathing/heart beat at the beginning of Smooth Criminal. I think my brother bought Bad on cassette tape. I remember him playing it when Bad came out. I just don't remember the spoken intro... funny.

I'm really enjoying this thread,:) being reminded of how the original Bad album is. My cousin has the LP from 1987 but lives in the US.

I know. I feel you... Love the extended ending to Dirty Diana... The DiLeo breathing to Smooth Criminal. The Spoken intro to I Just Can't Stop Loving You have always been a highlight of the album for me since i bought it in 1987. I'm just trying to understand the situation! If Michael would still be with us he might have added the Smooth Criminal breathing since he rehired DiLeo late in his life? But the other alterations I think would have left as they were in 2001. I miss him...

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

During Bad when MJ introduces his band he goes Ricky,Ricky,Ricky. And there`s a crew guy or something behind Ricky smiling and laughing and i just tought about the great and amazing things everybody involved with the show experienced. Must have been a great time for everybody :)

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

I loved the 80s hair too lol. I think the band got to watch the concert recently and they probably have good memories.

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

I remember the hysteria of Michael Mania when he came to London for these shows. I was 8 years old and been a fan since I could walk! Because of the crowds and being young I didn't get to go but can remember all the clips on the news and my brothers friend who got to go telling me how amazing it was. The Wembley shows of 88, in particular this one have been the holy grail of MJ releases and now after 24 years of waiting we have it complete to own. Yet what amazes me is that still some people aren't satisfied and are posting negative comments about the quality. Everyone is in their right to post what they want but come on guys we finally have a complete 88 Bad Wembley show! I think the estate has done a great job with the VHS quality, the sound is fantastic and the show is amazing!! Yes the quality isn't HD but the performance and the atmosphere more than make up for it. Michaels untimely passing made the world appreciate the genius he really was and in turn a whole new fan base was born. Now with the release of this historic concert his Legacy can live on and the whole world can watch Michael Jackson in his prime proving that he was and always will be the King Of Pop.

Re: BAD 25 CD Live songs Wembley Stadium July 16, 1988 [Discussion thread]

I didn't care to buy deluxe for the live cd (just going to rip the dvd audio), HOWEVER, I'm listening to the live CD on SPOTIFY.

I KNOW they edited stuff down for time, but the worst edit they did was cutting the long note MJ did at the end of Rock With You.
They SERIOUSLY had those few extra seconds on the CD left to keep that part in! It just ends abruptly!
Yet, they left the DOOO DOOO DOOO DOO from the intro of Smooth Criminal...

Re: BAD 25 Demo's unreleased, unheard Studio songs Discussion [previews added]

Cheater is definitely one of the best demos/outtakes I've heard.

I love Cheater too. Amazing song, but I also love Streetwalker. Are these two finished songs? because they sound 100% finished.

I have to say though that I just finished listening to all the BAD 25 outtakes and I have enjoyed/enjoying all of them. Just great! Al Capone is a different song than SC but I can hear a bit of the beat of SC and some of the vocals seem similar to SC, so I see how he def. drew inspiration from Al Capone. I just love I'm So Blue and Free- so beautiful. And ALL the vocals in all the songs are just top notch- just wonderful. I need to listen to AC, AP and POF some more to see which one is my favorite- they are all excellent.

Re: BAD 25 MJ Demo's unreleased and unheard studio songs [Discussion thread]

I'm looooving Abortion Papers- that beat is infectious as hell! lol. and his vocals are out of this world. Okay going back to listen some more.

I wish they could of did a better job to bad25 cause that whole unreleased tracks did not hype me plus Quincy said that michael had some strong tracks in the bad sessions, I just don't get it fans been supporting him since the day he hit the stage but you won't give the ultimate fans them strong crazy mind blowing tracks, They knew what they was doing only track I like was al capone that was it, I know some was unfinished but c'mon they should of put the left over tracks that michael wanted but didn't made the cut back in the day

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

Did u guys see the way jennifer batten gently brushed her hands through michael's hair during dirty diana, how cute was that

But it wouldve been funny if mchael was like " get out of my hair woman!" lol :swordfight:

Re: BAD 25 CD Live songs Wembley Stadium July 16, 1988 [Discussion thread]

It would probably be easier for you to DL it from someone else than do it yourself (since you're unsure how the process works to start with).

try asking in 2000 Watts discussion forum. There are several ways. but that would derail this thread.

Ok thanks

I listened to the cd anyway this morning in the car and i liked the sound of it

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

I'm reading complaints (from non-fans) that Bad and MITM are lip synced on this concert. Is that so? It's always hard for me to tell...

Half of MITM is (same as at the Grammys). Not sure about Bad.

I've heard Bad is partly lip-synched but not fully. This does not seem like lip-synch to me:

Love all the new demo's. You can feel Michael's soul through his music. It's really a beautiful thing and reminds me that no other artist will ever have the same effect on me that MJ has. He is so very special.

I especially love "I'm So Blue", "Price of Fame" and "Al Capone". Such genius. Anybody else would have just released "Al Capone" and had a hit single, but Michael transformed it into "Smooth Criminal"! I think it would have been great if Michael returned to it, changed the instrumentation to differentiate it a bit from "Smooth Criminal" and released it on a later album. It's such a brilliant song on it's own, independent of "Smooth Criminal", regardless of their similarities.

What a gift these 6 songs are!

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

Yeah, ad libs are clearly not.

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

I don't know why anyone would want to focus on that when 90% of this concert is live.

It's blatantly obvious that they are.
Smooth Criminal and The Way You Make Me Feel, as well.
They are very obviously the acapellas from the album recordings.

(but then he comes in live towards the end of the song to finish it/adlibs).

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

I always laugh hysterically at people that say "oh this isn't live" blah blah blah. Because clearly Michael should be compared to those that don't put on the type of performance (dance AND vocal) that he does. lmao. That is such a silly thing to say. Especially when you watch the rest of the show.

I finally watched the whole thing and I am at awe in his performance. I think what I loved best was that it was untouched and you got to see him transition and truly appear to be out of breath and exhausted at times which truly made me appreciate him even more as a performer. To see THAT kind of effort through both song and dance is truly amazing. Wow is all I can say. It made me think about how he went out like that and gave his ALL every single night. It's no wonder why it took so much out of him and he slowly backed away from doing completely live shows. I have a whole new perspective on that, and I thought I already understood it!!

It is hard for me to say which performance I enjoyed the most but I was so excited when Smooth Criminal and Billie Jean kicked in. The sound was incredible, and I always wanted to see a clear version of SC on the BAD tour so to be able to finally see it was pretty neat. I also liked that the band's little segment was kept it. It made me feel as though I was watching a live show, and other than the fact that everyone not named Michael looked like they stepped out the 80's, I truly felt it was live. Well...other than the moments that I paused to go to the bathroom or rewind to watch something cool again lol.

Overall: Amazing performance and I'm glad this was the selection of the estate. That performance lived up to everything I ever heard about it.

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

Well, to be honest, he doesn't exactly dance in MITM, and to hear such an epic anthem sung live would be a real treasure. It's one of my most favorite songs, and I would have given a lot for a raw live performance. Just listen to his vocals in Dirty Diana - it's MIND-BLOWING.
