Bravado sues Julian Rouas (Joe's partner)for MJ Perfumes / Update: Settlement Reached

"My legal counsel will now work very closely with the various participants (The original manufacturer owners of G.P.S Perfume S.A., Geneva, the Merchandising rights owners to my Son’s image and likeness etc)"

When he talks about the merchandising right owners, is he referring to Bravado or the estate? Would they make bus. with him?

^^ I was about to ask the same thing. When he says that he will work with the Merchandising rights owners to Michael's image, is he meaning he wants to work with the Estate?

Given his track record I would assume that he would probably bypass the Estate and work with the company that did the perfume back in the day

All right!! One more case Hits the Dust!!! Next........

Can someone find Joe a young female partner to keep him occupied and away from Michael related disasters.

I hope the company that did the perfume before is not as stupid as Rouas, and do not make any deals with Joe to reissue this perfume.

I will continue to preserve the legacy of my son with various fragrances, but these will be through a major leading global Cosmetic, Fragrance and beauty firm. Thousands of fans have been demanding the relaunch of my Son’s original perfume. The only perfume he personally co-created back in 1988. Michael sat through 7 hours to have a 3D hologram picture of his face taken that appeared on the final package. Having been given possession of the original 3D work, My legal counsel will now work very closely with the various participants (The original manufacturer owners of G.P.S Perfume S.A., Geneva, the Merchandising rights owners to my Son’s image and likeness etc) to get this wonderful hologram product approved and in stores globally by next year. As always I thank the fans for their feedback. ”

I wonder who write's Joe's statements, Majestik Magnificent? It certainly is magnificent statement, especially the 1st bolded part :bugeyed
Second bolded part, does he say that he has been in possession of original the original 3D work, or manufacturer has it?
3rd bolded part, pretty lousy sentence:-( Merchandising rights owners of his son's image and likeness.
He doesn't even sound like father, more like MJ image and likeness is object to be exploited.

Anyway's, is that company full of crazies! The last person to sell and front any campaign of MJ related stuff is Joe.

Product Description
This range of perfume was due for release in the early 1990's but after long delays was never officially released. There are 2 scents, a Mystique de Michael Jackson a perfume for women and Legende de Michael Jackson a cologne for men. There are also 2 different bottle types. The first set features an excellent quality hologram of Michael. When you turn the bottle Michael smiles at you. These hologram bottles are by far the rarest and most sought after bottle types. The second bottle type features a picture of Michael, with shoulder length hair, white T shirt and black leather jacket. The bottles contain 60 ML or 2.0 US FL.OZ of the scents. The scents were created in Paris by both Michael and well known perfumer, Jon Pierre Sand. Victor Chiam licensed the perfume products but unfortunately died before they were released. The licenses then became embroiled in legal estate problems and the release of the perfumes was delayed. A media launch including TV advertising and promo store posters was prepared and all in place to be launched just days before Michael was falsely accused by the Chandler family. The perfumes were therefore never commercially released and have become sought after collectors items. The boxes also come in black or white, matching the colours of the perfume bottles. The boxes are 5 inches tall, by 3.5 inches wide and 1 inch in depth. The "Michael Jackson" signature is on the front of the box in metalic golden colour. On the back of the box it states:G.P.S GEM PERFUMES S.A. GENEVA - PARIS - NEW YORK 1989 TRIUMPH INTERNATIONAL Inc Trademarkregistered to Triumph International Inc. Contents Ethyl alcohol, Distlled Water, Fragrance. Made in France. 88% Vol.

If it is trademark registered to Triumph International, I think the estate has something to say, especially the 3D thingy.

Ivy, what you think?

^^Oh every time Michel ha something new and exciting planned someone would mess it up. This time it was the Chandlers. I am really looking forward to an estate endorsed scent and I hope Joe is not trying to mess it up.

So how long before the perfume dude sues Joe Jackson? Maybe, maybe not, I wonder.

I mean, I'm sure Joe Jackson sold the perfume dude a "bill of rights" to ALL things Michael Jackson. You know Joe, i.e. "Michael was my son, I have the right as his father." Same "bill of rights" he sold to the former Mayor of Gary, regarding that 3 hundred million dollar-never gonna happen-project.

Joe Jackson probably had that sap thinking that they would ALL become millionaries out of this perfume venture. Perfume dude ends up getting duped AND SUED!

Which is par for the course when you go into business were certain members of the Jackson family.

^^^ I just saw this on twitter, and I'm confused (?)

I guess having looked at the website they have made changes to the designs and names, thereby not infringing on likeness etc.

'The Julian Rouas Paris Jackson Fragrance Line' seems to be a very ambiguous name.......how very convenient!
I wonder who the JFF could possibly ask to help market a perfume range of that name? Now let me think.......????

Nothing seems to have changed on the website. The image of the crown still has the 'mj posed figures' on top, and the Tribute bottle still has 'Neverland' printed on it.

Yes that is rather convenient! Had a better look at the website now im on computer raher han phone, and yes you are right, not a lot has actually changed. Curious.

This time he is trying to use Paris's name...IS this EVEN legal???

^^ I don't think they're using Paris' name. I believe "Julian Rouas Paris" is the name of the entity.

Maybe now they cannot say it is Michael's but the Jackson Family, and they cannot use any Michael images without permission. Anyway Joe said his advisors told him it was not in his interest to be a part of this and he was severing his ties with the perfume. He would now focus on the old one Michael had before. Oh dear....

^^Yes Paris is part of the company name.

It seems Rouas is back...

Translation using google translator:

Michael Jackson perfumes in Grasse will be marketed

Franck Rouas, a native of Nice, has finally won the right to market three flavors he created in tribute to Michael Jackson, who died three and a half ago. The singer's family will recover 50% of total sales.

The legal battle lasted more than a year. A lawsuit was initiated in June 2011 in a Los Angeles court on behalf of Bravado, the company which owns the commercial rights to the products sold under the name of Michael Jackson. The complaint stated that Franck Rouas and Joe Jackson, father of the star died at age 50 in June 2009, "were unlicensed commercial distributors" thereby illegally using the brand.

Bravado sought to prohibit the marketing of these colognes and demanded $ 150,000 in damages plus $ 750 every time the name of Michael Jackson appeared illegally on a product. The verdict was delivered on 8 November in favor of Nice which was able to offer a sneak preview Friday's fragrances. 20 bottles are ready.

Franck Rouas is 40 years old and was born in Nice north.

^^Yes this does not sound right. I did not realize they allowed him to continue making that perfume. Maybe he is making a perfume with the Jacksons name but not using Michael's image or name?

If they believe the fans will buy this product they are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Yeah. Maybe they're going to be marketed as the aromas picked by Michael but with the Jackson's name or Bravado just allowed them to use Michael's image to get a %.

Well if Bravado makes a deal with that crook, I will not be buying any of their products sold via the official michael Jackson shop. I already found many of their products shoddy and now I know why.

From Bravado?

From Bravado?

Yes from Bravado. I bought several things in 09 that broke after a couple of uses such as keychains/mirror type lockets/jewelry to name a few. Then I met some fans in London in 2010 & found out we all bought the same types of wallets that lasted a few weeks. Now I hope they are not teaming with Rouas to make inferior perfume.

Sorry to hear what you bought didn't last. Did you get in touch with Bravado & told them what happened? Hope they're using a better manufacturer.

Aquarius they are not using better manufactures, because it appears they are now working with Rouas. I hope this is not true and the person who translated it got it wrong.
