For six hours, dinner, studio hire with all the facilities and an experience you can't find anywhere else at any price........I think it seems very reasonable. I'm sure that hiring a large studio must be expensive, just on its own.
I've seen collectors pay more for an item that they might not even unwrap and use. Experiences are the things you will remember all your life, and probably tell your grandchildren about.

I'll add another "it was worth it". I wish I could have gone to the part at the end, but I had to work that afternoon. They could organize it a little differently though to focus more on the tracks/components of Bad and definitely more of the GITM part (it looks like it was Bill Bottrell that brought in that melodic line that was very similar to something from some group called suicidal tendencies . . . for anyone familiar with that mild controversy). I wonder if there's a breakdown of Who Is It or SIM somewhere on Brad's computer. That's probably the only thing I would have liked to learn more about.

Thank you to my early ticket-buyers for the Orlando seminar on August 31st. I am working on an extended Neverland segment, and I have another surprise or three up my sleeve for the group. In the meantime, I want to share a photo with you from the 90s. That's me, with much longer hair and several fewer pounds, standing by the ostrich pen at Neverland. The zoo was amazing. Being a "behind-the-scenes" kind of guy, it was always impressive to see how well cared-for the animals were. The handlers were the coolest people, and everything was done right. It's amazing what can happen when a person with a dream surrounds himself with a great team.

If someone here is going to Orlando seminar, could you please ask Brad if he was in Neverland when MJ recorded with Freddie Mercury?
I watched The Great Pretender again and Freddie's manager Jim Beach sayd, "They got on well except for the fact that I suddenly got a call from Freddie, saying, 'Miami, dear, can you get on over here... You've got to get me out of here. I'm recording with a llama... I've had enough and I want to get out."
I would like to know whether Jim exaggerated or forgot which pet was there, as wasn't Michael known to bring in Muscles to scare people. I would think llama could be a little too big for studio and could wreck the place or break valuable studio stuff
So if possible can someone ask Brad if he witnessed llama in the studio

Brad worked with Michael since Bad and they first met during Captain EO. The Freddie Mercury recordings were a few years earlier, so I doubt he was there.

Maybe Jim meant Bubbles or Muscles, not Louie the llama (thanks Linda info about Lola).
I doubt Michael brought in this sort of animal:
The height of a full-grown, full-size llama is 1.7 to 1.8 m (5.5 to 6.0 ft) tall at the top of the head, and can weigh between 130 and 200 kg (280 to 450 lb).
Llamas which are well-socialized and trained to halter and lead after weaning are very friendly and pleasant to be around. They are extremely curious and most will approach people easily. However, llamas that are bottle-fed or over-socialized and over-handled as youth will become extremely difficult to handle when mature, when they will begin to treat humans as they treat each other, which is characterized by bouts of spitting, kicking and neck wrestling.
I had a funny image in my head that if it was Louie, Freddie might have gotten spit or kicked or even neck wrestlinged (sp?) by this beast

I hope that Brad won't mind my adding his latest FB post here. I was just so pleased to see that fans from so many different countries had been in touch with him, and so glad that the UK is among them. Am keeping my fingers crossed for next year........
It's been a crazy day, seriously. Currently (I am not making this up), we have groups that want to hear my seminar in: Russia, Sweden, Australia, Brazil, China, Japan, Germany, Norway, UK, Netherlands and Canada. (Forgive me if I missed any.) As far as solid bookings go, we currently have Orlando in August, Paris in October, and LA next June.
We are about to flood the media outlets of Florida with a press release about the Orlando seminar, hopefully by Wednesday morning. If you are planning on attending the Orlando event, you may want to purchase your tickets soon.
I have also been working on two brand-new segments for the Orlando event: vocal comping and the use of percussion from the Bad album. I can't go into detail beyond that, but I am excited to take you through these.
Thank you for helping spread the word about my seminars. It is so rewarding to know there are so many people who want to go back to the studio, back to the roots, back to what made Michael tick: the music. There are plenty of places to hear garbage, but it's not allowed... "In The Studio With MJ."

Brad Sundberg, a voting member of the Grammys, fills the seminar with music, videos, personal behind-the-scenes stories and photos. It is a very unique opportunity for people interested in the music industry, and in Michael Jackson in particular, to see, hear and learn what it was like to work side-by-side with a true music legend.

OK, every picture tells a story. This was from 1994, during the HIStory album in NY. That's me, in the Santa suit, and my good friend (multi-Grammy winning) Brian Vibberts is the elf. Michael was hanging out with us also. I mean, who wouldn't want to hang out with Santa and his elf?
We brought in a kid's choir to work on some songs, and it sort of morphed into a full-blown Christmas party in the studio. Brian and I gave out Christmas gifts to the kids, and I think Michael is looking for a mantel to hang his stocking. HO HO HO!

OK, every picture tells a story. This was from 1994, during the HIStory album in NY. That's me, in the Santa suit, and my good friend (multi-Grammy winning) Brian Vibberts is the elf. Michael was hanging out with us also. I mean, who wouldn't want to hang out with Santa and his elf?
We brought in a kid's choir to work on some songs, and it sort of morphed into a full-blown Christmas party in the studio. Brian and I gave out Christmas gifts to the kids, and I think Michael is looking for a mantel to hang his stocking. HO HO HO!

I worked with Michael in the studio and at Neverland for a span of nearly 18 years. Periodically I present a very unique seminar giving people a glimpse of what it was like to work with Michael, who is one of the most creative people I have ever met. The seminars dig deep into the production of Bad, Dangerous and HIStory, projects I was personally involved in. Additionally I share some stories and insights about Neverland, which I helped build with a crew of amazingly talented people.
If you were coming down the slide at Neverland, this was your view. The treehouse castle in the back was built to cover all of the electrical panels and my music racks. Michael took the treehouse to the next level and turned it into a castle, which was fully carpeted and had a phone, small TV, chairs, etc. I remember working long days (and evenings) on some ride or project at the park, and running into the castle to call my wife and daughters and say goodnight, as it was a 2-hour drive from Neverland back to my house. The mushrooms and elephant were covered in lights (think Disney Electrical Parade), and we filled them with speakers, so at night the park was alive with lights and music. It was pretty amazing.
In just eight days we present "In The Studio With MJ" in Orlando, at Starke Lake Studios. You will see, hear and learn things you never knew, and it is a lot of fun. Dinner is included, featuring some of Michael's favorites. Tickets are still available. After Orlando, we look forward to seeing our friends in Paris in October. Have a great weekend!

Brad Sundberg first met Michael Jackson at some point in 1984. Sundberg can’t remember the specific moment the two first interacted – he figures it happened while they passed in a hallway – but even at that relatively early stage in the King of Pop’s career, Jackson was “this almost untouchable superstar” coming off the enormous success of 1982’s Thriller and his prominent role in MTV’s rise to cultural juggernaut. Thanks to some good fortune while working at Westlake Recording Studios – a West Hollywood, Calif., studio frequented by Jackson – the Santa Cruz-bred Sundberg went from being a studio runner to apprenticing with producers Bruce Swedien and Quincy Jones as they collaborated with Jackson on what would eventually become 1987’s Bad. Sundberg soon stopped attending recording school at night to sit in and observe these men at work, in time becoming part of Jackson’s inner circle.
“I went to New York when we kicked off the U.S. leg of the Bad tour, and I was standing backstage 50-60 feet away from him watching him perform, and I’m kind of looking at my wife going, ‘Who is that?’” says the Windermere-based Sundberg, 49, who today oversees BSUN Media Systems, a company specializing in home entertainment systems. “It was such a dynamic, explosive performance that he put out, and back in the studio, it’s just Michael. One on one, he’s just Michael.”
Since June 2012, Sundberg has been revisiting his professional and personal experiences with Jackson for an ongoing audiovisual seminar series called “In the Studio With Michael Jackson.” Until around 2002, Sundberg worked on and off with Jackson on various projects, including albums (such as Bad and 1991’s Dangerous), remixes, short films and custom equipment installations at Neverland Valley Ranch.
The Orlando edition of the seminar – which has also or will run in Paris, New York, Stockholm and Toronto – will consist of Sundberg discussing Jackson-related topics for about five hours in detail, supplementing the conversation with materials like home videos and studio outtakes. “If anything, I try to make Michael more human and somebody that you can see is kind of a cool guy to hang around,” Sundberg says. His seminar’s $199 ticket also covers a catered dinner similar to the weekly family-style dinners Jackson would arrange so the singer, his crew and his crew’s families could spend some downtime together.
Jackson’s legacy, of course, is connected to heavily publicized controversies and bizarre arcana as much as it is to his music, but Sundberg’s project purposely skirts tabloid-friendly fodder. “[The seminar] didn’t have a grand plan in the beginning. The ground rules were [that] we didn’t care about plastic surgeries or allegations. Leave that outside,” he says. “It’s not my job to go around and change everybody’s mind [on him], but I think people are just tired of the endless barrage of jokes and negative [comments]. Some people would rather just dig down a little bit and go, ‘Let’s hear some of the music that he created and the stories behind it,’ and that’s what the seminar is about.”
