Xscape chart positions. (incl. singles)

The official release means they're oficially sending this to the radios and promoting... without radio support, it's quite difficult to make the HOT 100 or stay there for more than a week.

The point about "Slave To The Rhythm" wasn't the sales (according to the Billboard, it was 25% sales x 75% streaming), but public interest about the hologram performance. Just check the the youtube views, it's about to top "Love Never Felt So Good" music video.

Makes sense, Billie Jean entered into chart only because youtube views were massive.
What we should do when they release next single is to request radio plays, and put it on repeat play on youtube:D

Sales from this link are from the first week sales:
http://www.mediatraffic.de/albums.htm
and friday we get second week?

Btw, MJ beat shite out of Shit keys by worldwide sales. Not bad for in-listenable songs (not my words):clapping:

I just requested LNFSG on 7 stations via the following link on Rihanna's home page. It is super easy to do. As the link takes you to a pre-filled request page, it literally only takes a few seconds per request. You just have to click the box for LNFSG and enter a name and the code at the bottom of the page. I didn't have to enter any other information including my email address! Come on people, let's make this happen! Both the song and album need our help, grass roots style.

FYI: I don't even live in the US but it doesn't matter. I was able to easily submit my request!

This morning, I requested the song on 50 top 40 stations! Took less than 20 minutes to do so. Come on everyone. Let's go!

I wonder which song they are going to focus on next when looking at that. Slave to the Rhythm could go higher than 45 I think. I have to say this is exciting to see. Michael already made history last week with his chart positions.

Or, if looked at without rose-coloured glasses :

Xscape dropped 57 % in sales after one week -- big drop.
LNFSG is out of the Top 10 after one week.

The rest means nothing important : just old greatest hits packages selling a few more albums on the coattails of Xscape, and a novelty re-entry for BJ because of a youtube video.

The jury is still out on whether Xscape met Sony's expectations. I think they're probably happy with the impact of the single, but disappointed in the sales of the album.

Actually on average albums tend to drop more than that (70%) on second week (last week's #1 dropped more in sales and down to #5 for example), so a 57% isn't that bad.

As for the rest meaning nothing: so to you it means nothing that more people discover Michael's music? I thought naysayers would be happy at least about that effect, if they cannot find any joy in Xscape, but I guess some people just love to be negative and cynical about everything.

Michael isn't here and he is doing as well or better than the current artists of today. That's amazing and the positive feeling of all this with the general public and with the media for the most part has been amazing as well. I don't know what anyone else thinks but to me this has been a success.

Agreed.

About the drops... have you checked Coldplay's update? They're about to drop 80% on its second week! That's how album sales work nowadays. Front-loaded first week and then big drops.

Some people seem to forget this is a posthumous album... released after 5 years! Despite a few albums released one or two months after the artist's death (on which they were working before dying), I can't even remember any other phostumous release as successful as XSCAPE.

Big drop is 80% (Coldplay are expected to drop that much this week). Usually albums drop about 70% and that's considered a normal second week drop. So 57% is very good. The album is selling very well so far.

Chicago, APWNN, and LY! How is this happening? Streaming, radio play, purchases, or a combination of all?

Estate/Sony can capitalize on that with videos. Imagine a mystical video for APWNN? All videos for these three songs should be story line videos with Michael's vocals as narration.

Actually, a video for each song would be great. When the holiday season begins, one can purchase "Xscape-the visual dvd" along with the cd that would include extras (Tricky Stewart's STTR mix, LNFSG mixes by LeGran and Jackie Jackson, Xscape with Tupac, HFITS, etc).

I think it will also do well. I hope he is already working on his STTR routine LOL. Not based on the BB performance but something he puts together himself after having studied so many of Michael's moves over and over. Would be great if he could release it when they release the song as a single should they decide to do so

Truth.

The claim that 57 % is a big second week drop has already been addressed by several posters here, but just for fun, here’s a list of the second week drops of some recent albums by popular artists:

Michael Jackson: Xscape -57 %
- - -
Justin Timberlake: 20/20 Experience -67 %
Katy Perry: Prism -68%
Miley Cyrus: Bangerz -73 %
Eminem: Marshall Mathers LP2 -73 %
Daft Punk: Random Access Memories -73 %
Justin Timberlake: 20/20 Experience 2 of 2 -80 %
Kanye West: Yeezus -80 %
Lady Gaga: Artpop -82 %
Madonna: MDNA -87 %

You guys keep talking about drops of the albums... But does that mean that XSCAPE still has the chance to reach #1? I dont get it...

If, the second single gets enough promotion, which were told we would, it could boost the album's sales further, potentially. This has happened in the past. Hollywood Tonight (Second single from Michael) was released 3 months after the first single Hold My Hand. I think their approach now will be to release the second single officially with a video when Love Never Felt So Good is out of the top 40.

If I go with what my head is telling me, I, for some reason, believe that this IS the duet album that was rumoured in 2012, why do I think that? I believe each single that will be released will feature a duet (Much like Justin Timberlake's collaboration). However, I could be wrong, I am speculating, remember I know nothing, but last time I said, "I know nothing," I was coincidentally right;)

Is it likely that the next video will have a hologram or unreleased footage? Well we know the estate, it's as if I can predict/confirm that it will be dancers in a group dancing to Xscape.

Wrong thread, woops, but it's good/exciting to speculate!

The next single will possibly be mid-August I think!

No one can predict that, what we know is that so far sales are stable. And if it continues like that who knows what may happen... there may be surprises. Charts are unpredictable.

Go Michael!

Go Michael Go!!

Keep up the good work guys. Remember Team Work, Team Work!! I just love that kids are still finding Michael, being inspired by him, and becoming great fans that influence other kids.

YOUR TOP 15: Coldplay and Brantley Gilbert appears set to log a second week in the top two spots, while a couple of debuts land in the Top 5. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:

^^Horak Is the 30-35 projections heading into the weekend is related to Xscape's 3rd week? That list has projections of albums that debut at different times, right? So for some it is their 3rd or 2nd week projections? It seems to me an album that is just out will have a higher projection than an album that has been out for 2 or 3 weeks. I am asking this so I can put these numbers in perspective.

Yep! 30-35k is a projection of the 3rd week! ;)

It's pretty good!

***
1st week: 157k
2nd: 67k
3rd: ~30-35k

Guys, we can't compare "Xscape" to "Michael" sales, since the "Michael" was released during holidays AND 4 years ago... but we can compare the chart positions and drops:

XSCAPE

157k (#2)
67k (#3)

30-35k (estimated / probably #7)

MICHAEL

228k (#3)
150k (#5) [Christmas week]
27k (#18)
18k (#21)
11k (#32)...

***
I'm expecting a great longevity, 'cause "Xscape" has a really good appeal to general public! Notice that there's absolutely no big promo since the hologram... despite that, it's selling good everywhere (currently at #5 on Amazon.com, for example).

Another point is: june is coming and that means free promo, 'cause every journal will talk about the 5 years ( :/ ) and certainly will mention "Xscape".

Plus, I don't think the promo is over... The Estate is probably planning some surprises for the following weeks.
