It's such a great song, it should have got a proper release, rather than a pepsi competition then on the ultimate collection. I would love to hear the Bad era version.

Ooohhh yea,i 4got about that! He said teddy riley cowrote the dangerous version but the verses r different from the original

I honestly don't think it would be a huge hit. It's just not up to the standards of the released songs on his albums. Also its monotone for my taste.

This is my absolute favorite ballad from mike. It's just as good as any ballad on his albums and would have definitely charted high if he properly released it with a music video

Someone put your hand out › YANA, You are my life & Don't Walk Away.

I think it's (one of) his most personal and honest production(s) ever and it sadly paints the picture of a most lonely soul. The tune expressed beautifully his longing for companionship, romance and loyalty. I'm not entirely sure it would have been a hit though. Irrespective of public reaction or recognition, for me it remains a true masterpiece exactly because of its raw sincerity.

I love the harmonies on the bridge when he's goes when you say...& he starts to go aaaaahhhhhahhhhaahhh over the top vocals of that part. It reminds me of classical music

In the 90s I spent a little fortune for the japanese 3"inch CD, so this song always had a bit of extra magic for me. :D

I'm not too much a fan of the instrumentation of this song (sounds so softy cheesy 90s pop), but I like his
singing in this very much, the high voice.

Agreed! Such a gem. To think it was first called Someone Put Your Hand Down. Gives it a totally different meaning.

This song contains MJ's most expressive and sincerest lyrics.

"I lived my life the lonely, a soul that cries of shame. In handicapped emotions.
Save me now from what still remains"

" when you say we will dance into the light of day, its just like the children of earths joy.
We pray, will you promise me you'll always stay. It's because I'm needing that someone"

MJ was a poet.

Where did you hear about the title being someone put your hand down?

the guy questioning him in the Mexico Deposition, ask him about several songs, and this is one of them, he said "Someone put your hand down", but I think he just said it wrong. Michael corrects him and says "Someone put your hand OUT"

Lol singing it with the wrd down in my head is misleading tho ???

Having difficulty finding the quote from one of the prducers/team that said they went about this as if it were the sequel to Human Nature. Brad Sundberg? Anyone else remember reading this?

I'm having difficulty seeing it as a sequel

I'm having difficulty seeing it as a sequel

Snap, but i DEFINITELY saw this said by someone!

Edit: found it. He said "a follow up to Human Nature" which is similar to sequel kinda

Talk if it would be a hit if released as a single... I don't know, but I do believe that that song deserved a release on an actual album... I'd say there has to be a song I'd trade that out for another that's on an album IF it came down to it..

I remember this contest clearly. you had to send in a certain amount of bottle caps to get the tape. I sure drank a lot of Pepsi  and was super excited waiting to receive the cassette tape
thinking back, I wouldn't want it to be released any other way than it was, because it was something special. back then, you had to actually do something to get something, I couldn't just go on the internet and download. kids today, will never have those kind of experiences, which I think was way more fun. but that's just me. it is certainly a great memory for me, anyway

"For All Time" was a "sequel" to Human Nature - in a sense that it was written by the same author (Steve Porcaro).

I like the song, but I don't think it had potential to be a No.1 hit. It's too mellow, imo. But it is a beautiful song. And the released version is stronger than the early version (sounds completely different in verses too), so I'm glad it was re-written.

I really want to hear the early version! Did you hear it in brads seminars?

What does the production sound like?

I don't remember, to be honest, it was 2 years ago. What I remember is that the chorus sounds about the same, the verses are completely different - to the point that the song is unrecognizable until the chorus. And I thought the new version was musically stronger.

No.

It's a great song and I like it a lot. - But more a b-side than a #1 single IMO...

Now knowing that spyho & botdf almost made the album I wonder if Michael had any ideas or an ambition for an accompanying video.

Love the song. Too bad it didn't make the final cut on Dangerous, as I believe it had huge potential. They could have easily cut down some of the intros & outros of some songs, and then put it on Dangerous. This would have been a great track to finish the album right after Dangerous.

I prefer the demo over the final version tbh, even though Michael starts eating halfway through the song lol.
