it doesn't look like the documentary will be sold alone
So basically they're making us buy the whole package...i guess because otw Is still on shelves & online. The SAME EXACT CD, how many times can it be remastered UNLESS.....they really remastered it instead of lying & doing what they did to bad25 with the loudness. Smh they can't ever do anything right!

Let's say that's true. How is that an excuse? These guys are not doing charity work here, they are paid millions to run Michael's Estate. An important part of that is cataloguing what's in the archives and investigating what else could be out there. Not just because it can be released for profit, but also because the longer you wait, the more likely it is that material gets lost or damaged.

They could either do this themselves or pay someone to do it for them. Heck, just asking Michael's collaborators or well-informed fans like Chris Cadman and ****** ******* would already go a long way.

They just do not seem to care.
They could ask us fans or listen to us..like cmon! Why is it so hard to do a complete package right

Don't think we are getting the full story here. Wouldn't surprise me if issues with Quincy and others may have meant the estate couldn't get the rights to release extra songs. Personally I'm disappointed as Bad25 had set my expectations high. Fingers crossed that Dangerous 25 will be released this year and not be such a let down.

It might be the case but they will never say it. Randy Jackson is still giving declarations questioning validity of the executors/will, Quincy Jones is claiming he is entitled to first right to remix the songs he worked on. That combined probably ruled out any/all demos from OTW, any remixes/new version of the old songs and any concert with jacksons in it. Won't know it for sure but it might be a factor.

If thats there reason because of quincy? i dont wanna hear any bull about teddy riley when d25 hits the fan!

I won't lie, I'm a little disappointed. There's obviously a whole load of legal tape stopping them from releasing material. Would have been a lovely opportunity to put out a Triumph concert and demos and extended cuts, even some TV appearances such as with Diana Ross. What I don't understand is downplaying of material when they surely know the fanbase is extremely well-read regarding everything MJ. I mean why even pretend to us that certain things just don't exist when we know full well they do? Just be honest about things because it's slightly insulting to the fanbase, unless the genuinely don't realise of the existence of material of which I'd find a little hard to believe. And again with the Spike Lee Joint - The Weekend??? Just no already.

And also, if your going to advertise Bad25 documentary to me, could you atleast make it physically available so that I can buy it?

Wait a minute, will the album be released on bluray audio with uncompressed sound in the highest quality? Or is it a cd with the documentary on bluray?

Now come on!! It's not as if this is one of the most important albums to black culture or popular culture! It's not as if this is something of seminal importance or a Michael Jackson album!! Oh wait........

Thank you for the sarcasm. My point is that we have at least three re-issues of the album already, including the remastered special edition. It's outrageous.

Releasing the album in uncompressed surround sound for example (like they did with Pink Floyd for example) would make this release more special.

If there really are legal issues prohibiting them from putting together a decent release at this time, then why not postpone this release until these issues are sorted, rather than release something half-arsed now? They could work on another project, that is not affected by the same issues, in the meantime.

Then again, as far as I know there were no legal issues prohibiting them from making the previous projects high quality, yet they still managed to come up with mediocre product after mediocre product.

MJ deserves better.

Heehee, your welcome:D And I agree with you. I really do wish the powers that be would pay off whoever needs to be payed and secure the rights to all the material that's out there. They've never struck me though as an organisation that actually cares about the material as opposed to Pink Floyd who absolutely cares about the material and the endurance of their legacy. The estate cares about money and throwing the latest up and comer ie The Weekend to hopefully appeal to the young kids out there and sell sell sell. At the end of their time in charge, they wont look back on preserving artistic integrity, they'll look back on the amount of money they made and buy themselves new super cars. That is why every single project from these people has failed fans time and again.

I wasn't expecting anything special besides Spike Lee's documentary so I am not actually disappointed even though I would surely love to have the OTW outtakes. I guess they release this reissue to support the movie which is different from Bad25 because Bad25 was the other way around. It's not worth it if you don't see the movie as a main reason to buy another copy of OTW. Not sure the hardcore fandom is the audience for this release, probably not.

Dont forget the 2015 pressings

So does this release stand alone or is it considered one of the 7 MJ projects released by The Estate?

honestly id rebuy the 2001 remaster version if they took out the talking and added sunset driver which is a off the wall outake but i will gladly record the doc off showtime

THIS^^^

I couldn't agree more with ivy. I've long had a deep connection to Spike's work and I think this new joint will be awesome. Not only that, but I bet there will be other projects in the future to get excited over.

Dreams are free!!

I can most definitely and absolutely vouch that couldn't be further from the truth...........

Well said Ivy! People should stop attacking the Estate for everything. They are partly to be blamed, but not attacked as there are a lot of sharks out there waiting to get their filthy hands on Michael's money. Various Quincy Jones', Randy Jackson's and other leeches.

When the Estate says the album will be presented in it's original form, does that just mean no bonus tracks or will it have the original mixes of Rock With You and Get on the Floor as presented on the original Vinyl release? Only reason I would question it is because it appears they are bringing back the original cover so perhaps they would include the album as it was originally released too, or is that just really wishful thinking?

Also, I normally am not a big fan of digipaks but in this case it would be really cool if this came in a digipak that replicated the original Vinyl's gatefold packaging design.

Get ready! What better way to recognize Black History Month than by watching ‘MICHAEL JACKSON’S Journey from Motown to Off the Wall,’ directed by Spike Lee, when it makes its TV premiere on Showtime Networks on Feb 5th!
