Well finally something. may not be much but hey at least they did something. awesome. (y)

Wasted opportunity but they acknowledge that it deserves a bigger celebration. Maybe we'll see something more in the future.

This is honestly more than I would've expected for the HIStory album, given its relative lack of popularity with the general audience.

I think the merch is pretty cool, and I respect that the Estate acknowledges that the album deserves a bigger celebration. Good moves so far.

Can’t wait for some TDCAU merch. I personally think this is a great idea, to expect a full new release was always a bit of a stretch considering the world situation and the MJ Estate’s own situation.

Hehe, while I will applaud the Estate for even celebrating HIStory 25, let alone acknowledging it, I just hope that when I order a shirt or something, it isn’t on backorder and will be ready to ship to me when “restocked,” because a similar situation occurred when I ordered a Dangerous 25 shirt back in 2016 and ended up not getting it under suspicious circumstances of it being on backorder and not being shipped to me, even if it was restocked or not. I don’t recall of I got my money back or not, but if I didn’t, some real shady shit.

But nevertheless, there could be more potential to this, besides just merchandise. Given the circumstances of the world right now, and relating it to the context of the songs on the HIStory album, the album is as relevant as ever, thus a re-release is necessary. However, to add with the re-release, can be other content like a HIStory Tour concert and unreleased HIStory sessions, as with Bad 25. Now I know that “HISToRY tOuR iS nOt BeSt FoR oFfIcIaL rElEaSe” because of obvious reasons, such as show quality (barely live, but I still like the HIStory Tour, hehe) and reputation in the media (about playback). But the concert does not need to be Seoul or Munich, since I would hold a huge grudge against the Estate if those were the concerts of choice. Include one good 1996 concert (with full setlist for bonus), like Prague (first concert of tour, immense audience, and energy), Sydney 11/14 (Beat It fully live), or Brunei (New Year’s Eve one, not Royal one), and one good 1997 concert (with full setlist for bonus), like Bremen (first concert of second leg and BOTDF with red jacket), Amsterdam (either 6/8 or 6/10 is fine, but they both look energetic), or Basel (underrated HIStory show in my opinion), along with some rehearsal footage (documentary is fine, but there already is one, so raw rehearsal footage is preferred) and some unreleased HIStory sessions that were not finished or could not be on the album. Maybe HappyLee can even restore the footage better than the NASA crew did with Wembley. Although, raw footage released is acceptable, and people can just make their own enhancements soon enough, if required. Boom! I just laid out the template for the Estate to follow. All they gotta do now is just figure out a way to market it and put it out. All this HIStory goodness can be compiled into a DVD or Blu-Ray boxset, which can be promoted on their socials and be ordered online (from retailers though), or in alignment with the digital age, the concerts and rehearsal footage can be uploaded on the Michael Jackson YouTube channel (remember they uploaded Wembley and Bucharest last year?), along with those unreleased sessions (can be uploaded in the same manner as other music, duh) one by one. The only issue with the latter is they won’t profit from it if they upload the content online for free, which may discourage them. Even so, not only will the public be pleased with a re-release of the HIStory album due to its context being pertinent with the times, but fans can also enjoy new concerts and music in quarantine. On top of that, the Estate can earn themselves the load of money they deserve (for this), if they choose to put it out at a cost. It’s a triple win here folks. I am not opposed to the merchandise, though a bit dubious of it, as shirts with “They Don’t Care About Us” or “History” can be worn with pride right now, albeit the Estate would be doing more people, including themselves, a huge favor if they consider to expand the HIStory 25 celebration with new content. Come on Estate, I know you can accomplish this within a week, so just do it!

you probably gonna have to wait until USA time. it's almost 7:00pm in the evening here where I live.

The hoodie doesn't look bad... But the t-shirts and the other stuff with the Scream cover are awful.
Anyway I hope that this is only the start of something bigger.

Zero effort for those merch designs. Yeesh. I wonder what outrageous price they'll be selling them for.

Seriously, who cares about sweat or mask?
We love a musician for his music. I am totally sickened by this terrible estate.

just so silly.

i want music and not some half assed merch.

well, why should i even expect anything from this estate.

lol just another thread bashing the Estate for their shady shit, nothing to see here

Yet again, the greediness rises.

For those who need a reminder:

  • Sony and the Estate are businesses. Like it or not, no business on the planet will invest time and money into a product they feel won't generate a financial return, no matter how much money the business is worth.
  • Bad 25 was a commercial disappointment, despite having a larger promotional cycle than any reissue I can think of (e.g., a Pepsi sponsorship, a Spike Lee documentary broadcast on ABC, a two-hour BET special, a single reprint). If a reissue of one of Michael's most commercially successful and culturally influential albums failed, why on Earth would those involved do anything even obscurely resembling it for HIStory, which doesn't hold 1/5 the societal impact or popularity?
  • Michael Jackson was not Prince. He did not leave behind a trove of completed material or worthwhile demos; nearly everybody with insider knowledge has confirmed as much. The day will inevitably come when the Estate has nothing left to offer. I would much rather that day take place decades into the future, rather than immediately.
  • Die-hard fans are only a fraction of the overall population. The Estate cannot cater to us because we alone cannot sustain a project that the general public has no interest in.
  • Not only is the Estate currently in a $100 million legal battle with HBO, they are also facing another round of Robson/Safechuck civil trials and the prospect of a Leaving Neverland sequel, given that Dan Reed will be filming the proceedings.
  • By definition, an "estate" serves the purpose of, among other things, preserving an artist's legacy and protecting their personal and financial assets. Over the last ten years, Michael's Estate paid off nearly $400 in debt, generated $2 billion in revenue, topped Forbes's list of highest earning dead celebrities ten out of the last eleven years (seven of which were consecutive), and introduced multiple projects (e.g., the Cirque tour, the Vegas residency, the Broadway show) that will keep his legacy alive. The Estate was NOT established to give fans new music whenever they so desired. They are not obligated to give us ANYTHING. Obviously they are not immune from criticism, but the idea that they SHOULD do something simply because we want them to is ludicrous and selfish.
(I'm sounding like a broken record, I know.)

I love HIStory just as much as everyone here. I would love to see a full rollout for it, and I'm not crazy over the merch either. However, I'm still baffled by the constant whining and complaining over the Estate's refusal to waste money on a small fraction of Michael's overall fan base by emptying his vault whenever we so desire.

People on other sides often mention Prince's Estate because they release so frequently, even though said releases have been on par with the Estate's in many cases.

Relax.

^Why so butthurt tho? We are free to give opinions about anything. Bad 25 had no major impact because it was widely pirated on on fan forums, can you believe that? It's some of y'all fault for not supporting the good official releases.

Okay. it up on they site. keep in mind this isn't the only thing their giving out. it gonna be a series of collectibles in the next coming months. they all limited of time. i'm gonna be honest with this set. i don't like it much. but i will get them a shoutout with the face masks. Prince estate did face masks before them. they could of done a much better job but like i said i give them a shoutout for that.

this is the first set of collectibles so there more to come.

let's see what they giving us the next coming months.

i'm really looking forward to anything like they don't care about us. it's perfect for the time right now.
