Thriller 40th Anniversary

I am beyond ecstatic that Thriller is getting a 40th anniversary release (except the font) 40 years on, Thriller is still a classic that is loved across generations.

The success of MJ's Musical, "Heaven Can Wait" unexpectedly becoming a hit 2 decades on, and now this (along with "The Lady In My Life" being performed at the Billboard Awards) is jaw dropping. I haven't thought about LN in awhile, but I would have not believed you, if you told me in March 2019 that the next 3 years would play out like this. I hear his music play all the time on FM Radio, SiriusXM and in public, all the time. I notice it a lot.

I follow a Instagram account called "celebslovemj" He is still very loved, Time traveling train station's can't derail L.O.V. E ✌️

Seeing that Chicago 1945 is a fully-finished song, I think they’ll hold onto that one for a studio album or single. No use wasting it on a reissue (though I am dying to hear it).

They already tried that and Porcaro said No. He doesn't want it re-worked.

I can't post pictures right now, but looking at the waveform of literally any Thriller 25th track tells you everything you need to know. It's literally a block of sound.
I got you.

Got The Hots should also be included. Was already on Thriller 25 in Japan. I'm sure the US will now get an official release.

Hot Street also needs a proper release. Full version of Carousel as well.

Apparently, the pre-order price of the double CD set has been raised up. It was $13.95, now it's $19 on the official website.

If the estate wants to play it safe, they'll use only already leaked or in some form released songs such as Hot Street, Nite Line, Trouble, Starlight, Behind the Mask, The Toy, Little Susie, etc.

Who cares lol

Yeah that's what I'm scared the most, but as long as it's like Xscape and there's some new stuff then it's fine

Although it's not Thriller Era, I really hope the estate takes advantage of this Anniversary to release more stuff as well and specifically
Throwing Your Life Away

Also, for those talking about the SACD, they aren't worth anything, I refuse to believe any of you can hear the difference between a CD and SACD which uses the same master.
I care. MJ was HUGE on presentation and this looks like their first Photoshop attempt.

This is the biggest album in HISTORY.

He also said in an interview with Brice Najar that he wanted to completely redo the music, so he clearly doesn’t have an issue with touching things up. Maybe his issue was that Xscape remixed the music from scratch with no regard to the original material.

Tbh I was a little disappointed. I didn’t love the performance, though I did love that Maxwell was obviously emotional about performing it and I love that he ended by yelling “we love you Michael Jackson!” Especially when ALL night, except for right before introducing Maxwell, they wouldn’t say Michael’s name and just referred to it as a tribute to Thriller. I also wish they would have shown some video montage of Thriller’s impact or something, with some visuals of Michael. But whatever. I am glad someone who loves MJ did the performance and honored him.
It's obvious that Billboard wanted to avoid saying Michael's name so they don't end up offending some MeToo nutcase who believes that all "victims" should be believed. But I am glad that Maxwell said "We Love You Michael Jackson" at the end of his performance. That was probably more important than the actual performance of The Lady In My Life.

Correct, he was simply against remixing the art he and MJ had created.

@Dorian
Actually, i had a friend take the picture for me, here's Thriller 25th in Hi-Res from Qobuz:
My question remains as to where does your T25 come from
CD and digital are trash.
This is a LP.

It’s rather funny how an April’s fool joke turned real and how all the rumours until now were fake

I agree that, being Chicago a finished song that was even presented at one of Brad's seminars, it could be released as is.

Yeah, my point still remains, then.
I knew the LP had greater dynamic range already, you should have said that from the beginning since we weren't talking about the same thing man haha

Why isn't anyone talking about how it could be a potential release for the complete version of The Lady in My Life?
Also, why not including a 3rd disc containing the album as it was meant to be before having to be trimmed down to fit onto the record?

So many questions...

The complete version of The Lady In My Life is only a few additional lyrics. Nothing really special, at least in my opinion. But if they want to release that version, that's cool

idk, full mix of tliml as well as final mix of Hot Street were connected to Q due to his producing. What if he says (as he did in the past) "you can't touch these"?

Yep, that's a potential issue. Quincy Jones.

That's why I mention Chicago 1945 now being released. Quincy had NOTHING to do with that.

Wasn't TLIML gonna be released in one of the 2008 King of Pop editions but got dropped out of the blue without any explanations?

I am so bloody excited. This totally made my day.

For Disc 2, they should release leaked Thriller era songs, songs released on The Ultimate Collection from the Thriller era and obviously previously unheard Thriller era songs.

The tracklist for Disc 2 should be something like:

1) Hot Street
2) Nite Line
3) Trouble
4) Scared of the Moon
5) Victory ft Freddie Mercury
6) State of Shock ft Freddie Mercury
7) The Toy
8) Buffalo Bill
9) Rolling The Dice
10) Chicago 1945

For the love of God, no awful remixes. Thriller 25 was a terrible release. We don't need a repeat of that.

It’s great to hear that we are finally getting a new release and possibly some never before heard music.

The font looks pretty bad, I agree and it’s a bit disappointing that they won’t release the Thriller short film and a Victory Tour concert on Blu Ray or on any streaming service (as of now).

I’m curious what the new music may be. My prediction is that it will include the Wanna Be Startin Something, Billie Jean, Beat It and The Girl Is Mine demos + some of the already leaked Thriller era demos such as Hot Street and Nite Line.

5) Victory ft Freddie Mercury
I feel like there might be a problem here.
Brian and Roger tried to clear this track to release it on their Queen Forever compilation and the Estate turned them down. They'd surely "return the favor".
