Thriller 40th Anniversary

Why is everybody so excited about 4k short films. I can clearly see what’s going in them in “lower” quality. I’d rather see them release behind the scenes footage.

I understand you. Its not that i watch the short films all the time... but one of the reasons i dont do that is the quality.
Also i think i can speak for everyone if i say that a HD release of the short films is just something what the MJ Legacy needs. Its not for us fans. Its for michael and to prevent his art in best possible quality. Michael was the inventor of music videos in that form and to have those things in VHS quality in 2022... he would want to have these things available in best quality.

That's like saying that there is no point in 4k movies, because everything is visible on VHS. It's a whole different experience to see something in good quality

Now that you mention WBSS 2008 I remember how I wished he rerecorded the album again with modern production and new vocals.

Similar to what Taylor Swift did to one of her albums (Red?)

I agree.. it was a whole different experience for me to see thriller in 4k and widescreen in 2017! crystal clear picture.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the overall audio mix like?

I'm glad you could see it back then! It sadly wasn't available in my country

It was definitely a different mix. But i liked it. It was kinda more modern. But if i remember correctly they did not use any different stems. Just the mixing was different.

Won't work. The generation that appreciated this does not even know the concept of a CD! They would have to make it a series of TikTok releases. Not a bad idea though 😂

To be honest, I am also starting to forget CDs. If I were to buy one, I would have to find a CD player from somewhere, attach it to my laptop, transfer everything on to the laptop and then load on my phone. That's the only way to listen a CD!
Going back to 2007 days lol

I'll believe it when I see it. They also said we'd get d30
A lot of people still complain about the Dangerous anniversary release which never happened.

Honestly, if they were to do it, what could be included apart from the album itself?
Videos in 4K? Yet another Dangerous Tour concert when we got like 5 of them leaked already? The demos from the 2000 acetate (because I don't think Bryan Loren's tracks are even worth it)?
Is there enough unheard material for something like that?

If you never seen thriller 4k then you would definitely change your mind

Yes

Someone on the Hoffman forum claims that this could possibly be the tracklist for disc 2. I hope this is just a fake screenschot...
First of all, the P.Y.T Demo was certainly not a home demo. It was most certainly done in a professional studio.

Starlight was not recorded in 1980, it was submitted by Rod Temperton for the Thriller sessions which started in April 1982, so it must have been recorded shortly before these sessions commenced.

Also, why would they not at least include the WBSS home demo or the The Girl Is Mine demo?

I don't see much difference between different picture qualities honestly but if I'm in the minority I surely must be wrong :geek:
But I don't see the point in releasing perfect quality videos when the majority of the people watch it on the tiniest possible screen (iPhone). I mean young people watch movies on their phones

I mean compressed 480p on YouTube doesn't still looking good on a phone. And who is watching Michael's short films on a phone ;D

Honestly I have no clue what I'm talking about  It is all too technical for me.

Why are people still taking photos with potatoes? Surely, we can have a decent looking "leak" in 2022
