Hot topic What unreleased demos and remixes do you think will be on Thriller 40 Disc 2?

I'm not as familiar with the release history of the Thriller outtakes/demos, but if the demo Starlight has never been officially released, I'd guarantee it'll be on Disc 2 of this release

I think it kind of proves this song can be modernized and have great potential.
 
The probably dozens of unfinished tracks could be used for dance mixes for clubs or maybe even in an MJ medley or like how Drake used an unfinished vocal as chorus in one of his songs. There’s a Curtis Mayfield unfinished vocal used for a dance song as well.
Hot street however is a fully completed song so I also like to hear the full vocals as they were recorded.
 
All it takes is Marvel to use hot street in one of their movies and it hits the stratosphere 😛
It is one of those songs to play in the car on a hot summer’s day, windows open, bopping you head to the beat.
I personally wouldn’t take any thriller song off for this either ( I probably would for carousel) but it is too good to rot away really

I’m going to quote myself for a second.

I just remembered the talk about that song called water or H20 or whatever with its Arabic sounding beat or chorus. It was supposedly a really big come back track and catchy as hell but unfinished. I hope someone picks up this chorus and uses it. I would totally be ok with that.

Baby Be Mine, PYT, Lady In My Life. I see enough tracks to be replaced by Hot Street.

If the Estate almost released Hot Fun which also only has a chorus then I believe it can be released, although not until the vault is dry and there's no complete material left.

That's actually quite genius, putting Hot Street in some "fun" new superhero movie (even though almost all of them suck recently). I could imagine Hot Street being used for some long funny comedic alien/superhero scene

‘p.y.t’ is a classic that is literally beloved by millions-despite there being no performance or short film of it. I’ve seen non fans declare it as their favourite Michael song.

‘hot street’ had/has the potential to add to michael’s catalogue without taking anything away from it. same with ‘love never felt so good’ (although that was always intended for Johnny Mathis) despite them both being incomplete vocally, and lyrically. it’s a testament to strong catchy melodies being eternal.
 
Hot Street is a good song but I'm not sure it's single worthy. Out of all the songs we've heard from the Thriller sessions, I'd say Got The Hots is the strongest, besides Behind The Mask.

I like Hot Street but like most ot the outtakes from Thriller it is very pop and quite repetitive

Doesn't Michael mention he liked Hot Street in the 1993 Mexico Deposition?
 
It's hard to say which song should've been removed in favor of Hot Street without hurting the album, every song fits perfectly. It's like the album was crafted just perfectly...

Make the album a pure MJ album by removing The Girl Is Mine duet, with Hot Street or Got The Hots ;) Or Behind The Mask. Or replace TGIM with one of them, plus put another track on it
 
Does that tracklist assume there is a solo version of Centipede?

I'm not a fan of the song but it being a duet with Paul McCartney is what gave the album a jumpstart, maybe make it a 10 song album and put Hot Street after P.Y.T.

This would be disappointing, but I'm so starved for new content that the BTM demo would be good enough for me.
 
I’m fairly sure a solo version of “centipede” exists after all it is a 100% MJ track. I think the same about “muscles”, “the hurt”, ”eaten alive”, “Night time lover”, “ alright now” and “why”

Centipede is a fantastic track btw

Ok but at the rate they’re releasing I will be I will be in a retirement home by the time I get to hear those songs 🥹
 
Do contemporary albums even get those Bernie Grundman CDs? Also, what’s the likelihood of Bernie even mastering this one? That’s so obviously fake.

Even if it was real, two new songs is a little disappointing… but it’s still the best Thriller reissue.

I have no idea why it didn't have a short film as big as it was
 
Hopefully some new unheard demos will be included. I had not listened to Hot Street and Got the Hots in years. Just gave them a spin, they are just ok not great. Certainly see whey they did not make the album. I don’t expect much from this release.
 
I'm pretty certain if Thriller was a CD era release Carousel, Hot Street and Got the Hots would have found a place on the album

Maybe your right but glad they didn’t. The album would not be nearly as strong. I think MJ and Quincy prove less is more. So much filler now days on albums. MJ was heading in the right direction with the plan to release singles.plenty of good songs are made but rarely a entire album of quality songs. They don’t make music like they use to.
