I wanted to write a thread in celebration of my 25 most favorite MJ tracks. I hope some folks here enjoy reading my thoughts on these songs and hopefully some other fans will get inspired to do the same or maybe they even get to know some songs they didn't know yet as I understood recently that MJ still attracts new fans in 2022 (to my honest but delighted surprise). I thought 25 was a nice number to cut off as I could go on and on, I simply love the vast majority of his recording career but one has to end somewhere. These 25 are all very special to me and I hope you all enjoy reading my write up :)

(I LIKE) THE WAY YOU LOVE ME

- A fine rare treat of Michael's last decade with an outro for the ages. The remixed version on "Michael" completely destroys that magical ending by letting the chorus run over it again. It seemed to me Michael again found some happiness and joy in his life judging by some of his later era recordings. This is the finest example of it imo.

BILLIE JEAN (EXTENDED)

- Story goes the full song was too long for the album so it needed some cutting, Michael was very sad about this and I understand why. The complete version has an extended intro and features a lengthier outro with more adlibs. He basically used the long version for the live shows.

THE LADY IN MY LIFE (EXTENDED)

- This extended version has a similar background to Billie Jean, it just needed to be cut because it wouldn't fit the album. There is an extra verse here and an even lengthier outro with more adlibs. Michael apparently got embarrassed while singing these and asked Quincy to dim the lights. The result is a sexy steamy song reminiscent of Marvin Gaye's similar content. Michael at his most soulful.

DON'T STOP TILL YOU GET ENOUGH

- Michael singing the entire song in falsetto voice marks the beginning of a new era. He did it before on the Destiny album but this time the entire world heard it, loved it and danced to it even now in 2022 it is a banger on the dance floor. Absolutely love the percussion work in it and I was so happy to hear it was already part of the song in the home demo.

SHAKE YOUR BODY (DOWN TO THE GROUND)

- Perhaps Michael's first "true" Michael Jackson song featuring many of his trademark vocal tics that he came to be known for in the 80s. Extremely danceable track, the 2 minute instrumental ending is so funky and edgy, feet can't keep still. This is the real deal!

SOMEONE IN THE DARK

- This superb track got omitted from the ET film and I cannot understand why, it would have fit the film perfectly. A perfect bedtime lullaby for a peaceful night. This is my favorite Michael Jackson ballad because it is so heartwarming with a beautiful message. I'm surprised this hasn't been picked up yet for a Disney film, if this would ever happen there is no doubt in my mind that this would become an iconic track for the ages. Michael's delivery is drop dead gorgeous.

SCARED OF THE MOON

- This has the same magical qualities as the song above. Though there is something sinister here in the lyrics, it could have some dark underlying meanings or maybe I'm looking too much into it. The song is completely carried by Michael's voice as the instrumental arrangements are sparse but beautiful. A stripped down Michael album would be magic for my ears.

BE NOT ALWAYS

- Michael's most heartbreaking vocal performance, holding back tears throughout several parts of the song and this time it doesn't feel fabricated but completely real. Another song with sparse arrangements of just violins, acoustic guitar and a harp making it clear we have to focus on the lyrical content and Michael's vocal ability. He pulls it off brilliantly. This song contains some of his best written lyrics imo. Also notable is the odd song structure which starts with the chorus and ends with the chorus. I always like when songs venture out of the box.

CAROUSEL

- This song didn't make the final cut of the thriller album and it would be sacrilege were it not that I don't have a clue what other song would have to be left out for this one. It is a testament to the great thriller album that a track as strong as carousel couldn't make it...

WHO IS IT

- It needed an impromptu a cappella version complete with beatboxing on a tv interview for us all to understand what a brilliantly written track this is. I personally already realized this before the interview aired but I am happy it happened because when something is that good you just want to share it with the world. Lyrics wise it is a mystery. What happened here, what event in his personal life is Michael singing about? There is a lot of pain and anger in the vocals. Musically this is my favorite Michael Jackson beat.

I CAN'T HELP IT

- Through this writing I want to thank Stevie Wonder to gift this song to Michael. It wouldn't feel misplaced on any of Stevie's classic 70s albums, this is a very strong track but he gave it to his friend, a true friend Stevie should be cherished. He never saw Michael so his judgement couldn't be clouded, he felt Michael was a fragile but hopeful soul with tremendous energy and passion for life and people. This might be Michael's most jazzy track and it suited his vocals very well.

WORKING DAY AND NIGHT

- I see this as a companion piece to DSTYGE. It has the same wild and funky percussion ideas, lyrically it is different but sonically it isn't. Michael gives us another classic piece of falsetto vocals, it just always elevates every song when he sings like that.

WHO'S LOVING YOU (LIVE)

- I heard a couple of live versions (one on the J5 live at the Forum album and one on the goin back to Indiana album) both times it beats the studio version by far. There is an energy here together with the crowd's enthusiastic reception that elevates this to stardom. Michael knocks it out of the park and to think he was 11 to 13 year old when he sang this song is just humbling. It is no surprise to me that his version is the most famous version and rightly so.

ONE DAY IN YOUR LIFE

- For this song I go back to my own memories I have of it. I remember one early morning when my dad drove me to school he said to me he found a tape in his collection with an MJ song I surely never heard before. During the trip to school I launched dozens of titles at him I shouted excitedly "is it bad, smooth criminal, beat it"? I was sure I knew every Michael song in existence. He said "nope none of those are right". He told me to wait till school ended so I could hear it. I guarantee you I couldn't wait for the bell to ring, it was the only thing I could think about all day long.
Finally home I listened to the tape and the song touched me greatly, I was so happy that all my expectations were met. It was a sound I wasn't familiar but I immediately fell in love with. Thanks dad.

WE'RE ALMOST THERE

- This is apparently Björks favorite Michael Jackson track. I can see why as it sounds different than the songs he did at the time. I love it's uplifting inspirational message, it is a well produced track, It has this dreamy vibe and I love the bass in this that just surges forward pushing you in the back, don't give up, keep going on.
It was only a modest hit back then but it doesn't take anything away from the brilliance of the song.

WILL YOU BE THERE

- I remember when I heard this on the radio for the first time in 1993, I was just a wee little lad but the sensations and emotions I felt that day during this song were so strong I have never forgotten them. This angelic piece of music gave me goosebumps all over my body when I sat awestruck in the sofa listening to this beauty. When eventually the Choir kicks in and Michael duels with it I got really emotional... There I sat on a Saturday afternoon as a ten year old with tears streaming down my face. The power of music, the power of a voice! This is such a strong memory...

LOVE NEVER FELT SO GOOD (piano version)

- When this thing got leaked on the internet I listened to it extensively for weeks. At that point I had not heard Michael yet in an acoustic setting, it was new to me and I felt the energy surging through my body, it was so exciting to hear the joy and passion in the vocals. This was especially strong since it leaked after an era of angry Michael Jackson music. This reminded me he was different and happier during the 80s, it was a breath of fresh air even if it was really a very old song.

MUSIC AND ME

- The opening acoustic guitar intro immediately sends out melancholic vibes, I always react strongly to nostalgia. It is funny that this song is sung by a young Michael, lyrics wise it would have been a fitting final song for his entire career. This same studio magic gets recreated on stage during the mid 70s which is a testament to Michael's strong vocal ability.

GONE TOO SOON

- This song admittedly has only recently grown to be one of my faves. A couple of years ago I discovered the live performance of the track at the Clinton gala. That performance was magical like only Michael could do it, the entire crowd of politicians gave a standing ovation, it was perfect vocal performance. Hillary Clinton had tears in her eyes and so did I. When you finally understand the backstory of this track the message just doubles up on you, devastating stuff.

PUSH ME AWAY

- Another ballad with perfect vocal delivery. A perfect song to end a stressful day. Just close your eyes and feel it. Absolutely love the swelling strings and all the other instruments here, together they create this very special dreamy laid back vibe. Lyrically it is a heartbreaker but aren't these often the best tracks?

BEN

- A track with a personal anecdote. When Michael died I had planned a night of going out and drinking with my friends. I didn't particularly feel sad at the time as I had so much other things going on in my mind, my baddest Michael Jackson craze had been over for many years though everyone still remembered me as the crazy MJ fan. Anyway we went to this club and the DJ played MJ songs for hours, literally. Everybody danced, nobody complained, it was a great night, every danceable track you can think of got played from start to finish. When the club got to closing time, the DJ put on a final ending track, this was Ben, as the place was emptying I sat on a stool and little Michael's angelic voice got to me, I finally realized my boyhood idol had passed away...

CHILDHOOD

- Michael returned here to the same magic when he created scared of the moon or someone in the dark. This time the lyrics are personal, autobiographical. For once he didn't write an angry scathing track to all the false allegations but he dug deep into his soul and produced Childhood. Complete with a Disney like videoclip, swelling strings this is the type of music I think Michael liked the best. Unfortunately due to circumstances we got robbed of an undoubedtly special live performance of this song on the cancelled "one night only" show in 1995.

GIVE IN TO ME

- For once I am not aiming all my praise at Michael but also at Slash. The guy played like a possessed man here, when he starts soloing the song becomes epic. Combine that with Michael's soaring vocals over the solo, pure electricity, as is shown in the videoclip! This one is up there with the other 90s epic rock ballads, sadly snowed under these days but it was quite the big hit back then.

ANOTHER PART OF ME

- Maybe not the most spectacular track but it such a fun tune, elevated by a mesmerizing live performance with Michael Jackson smiling and having fun and it is just Michael, no backup dancers necessary to party.

TO MAKE MY FATHER PROUD

- I don't know why this didn't make one of the studio albums during his Motown career. In hindsight songs like these tell such important stories. Who knew back then Michael would have such a troubled life? But he sings here the words every child wants to sing, that he did his best in life and that his parents are ok with the choices he made. Be proud of yourself Michael like we all are proud of you, you did good for the world...

In my eleventh hour
I'll be a man aware
To face whatever falls my way
Prepared then unashamed
To just be called a part of God
For which I have been named
A man and woman's youngest son
While growing still a child
And that will make my father proud
And make my mother smile

Amen, Rest In Peace my friend

Ooh, this is going to be good. Haven't read this yet, saving it for later. But I always love reading your written comments about Michael's songs. I've been listening to so much stuff that is new to me and a lot of the inspiration for that comes from the lovely little descriptions that you do. 25 songs! That's awesome.

🙂

No, couldn't wait. Had to dive in.

Love this, f&m, but for now two quick thoughts:

1 - Ben. Yes, absolutely. When Michael died his music was all over the radio, obviously. What happened quite often is that a DJ would play Ben just before the hour and then, when the song was finished, there would be a few moments of complete silence before they went to the news or whatever. I heard this more than once. For pop radio to be silent - and for commercial radio in particular - that's quite something. Certainly not something I ever heard, before or since. Very, very poignant.

2 - love your comments re Stevie Wonder. His solo performance at the memorial was the only part that I liked. And that is such a good point. Stevie never saw Michael physically so, yes, his judgement wouldn't be clouded by 'stuff'. And your description of Michael as a fragile but hopeful soul ... I need to go and have a little cry.

I never did get back to this ... until now. This isn't a list of my fave 25 songs, it's just the ones that popped into my head and I scribbled them down.

In no particular order:

1 - Beat It - I love the way he snaps out the lyrics. The way he sings the last syllable on most of the lines is just killer.

2 - SIM - I don't think Michael's voice has ever been more beautiful.
"On and on and on it came and the rain and again and again". Brilliant lyric, stunning vocal delivery.

3 - Keep the Faith - Michael with a gospel choir behind him is always sheer heaven.

4 - Music and Me - the purity of his young voice, so beautiful, so uplifting.

5 - Smile - there are other versions out there which I think have a better orchestration but Michael takes the prize for his vocal delivery. He sings the lyrics with feeling but with a light touch which is just right.

6 - Smooth Criminal - until I heard Whatever Happens this one was always my fave. The falsetto 'I don't know' always kills me.

7 - To Know - listening to his young voice is like watching a feather float down to earth

8 - Cry - the pleading quality in his voice in this song really gets to me

9 - The Lost Children - more pleading. " ... and no-one can find thee". Devastating.

10 - Jam - just the way he sings 'Get down' is enough for me.

11 - Don't Walk Away - simply beautiful. Don't know what else to say.

12 - We've Had Enough - another one that leaves me lost for words. I only discovered this one a few years ago. To think there was a time in my life when I didn't know this song.

13 - Speechless - his voice here sounds like a beautiful piece of crystal

14 - Earth Song - I understand it as a spiritual. I love the call and response. "Do we give a damn?" So much emotion and meaning in one small word.

15 - Can you feel it? - the classic Michael Jackson sound. His vocal performance here has pretty much everything I want.

16 - Break of Dawn - I would include this one just for the backing vocals. Sheer bliss.

17 - Heaven Can Wait - I love the shifting moods in this one.

18 - Morphine - a kick-ass rock song. Shocking, painful, beautiful. The layers in this song will keep me going for decades.

19 - Is It Scary - this is like an opera. The drama, the pain, the recovery at the end.

20 - Shout - I love Michael's vocals but it's the guitar that really makes this song.

21 - This Place Hotel - brilliant story-telling

22 - GITM - Michael's best rock song, imo. "Give in to the fire". Oh, I certainly did.

23 - Show You The Way To Go - his vocalisations at the end - omg!

24 - Ben - I avoided listening to it for years but now I'm finding I can cope with it again. Heartshakingly beautiful.

25 - Your Ways - those low-key 'hee hee's'. Love them.

Just listened to Push Me Away. Have never heard it before. Definitely a lovely end to a stressful day. It's not on the set list for Destiny at the Rainbow Theatre, London, which is annoying. I'll have to see if it's on any other clips from that tour.

This was so lovely.

This clip here has got the little interview at the end, weirdly. But the one that has it at the beginning is rubbish quality. The interview is very cute. I'm sure you've seen this clip before, f&m, I'm just putting it here for anyone who maybe hasn't seen it already.

Update - that video got taken down, here's another one. This one doesn't have the interview. Spanish subtitles.

Yeah I’ve seen the clip. I don’t think it was ever part of the Destiny tour though I have seen some weird setlists for that tour so maybe they have played it at some point. More so because it was also performed here on soultrain.

It is a very dreamy song and it is perfect to end a stressful day indeed. Actually I listen to a radioshow in the evening sometimes called “unwind”. This song would fit on there like a glove. Vocally one of my fave performances, love the strings (maybe you don’t?), adore the musical interlude with the guitar, love the drums. I’m a sucker for ballads, especially when sung by Mike!
Also that understated “yeah” at 3.48 don’t you love that? 🥰

I kind of forgot I made this thread but it is good you bumped it because I was thinking about making it and it would have the exact same song choices again 🤣 So I guess these truly are my favorite tracks then!

I did forget “we’re here to entertain you” though, I love that group effort. I love how this song ( with a beautiful melody) changes gears half way through with just the brothers harmonizing and Michael gently ad libbing over it.

If this song was sung by anyone else, Johnny Mathis, for example, I would be dying of boredom. It's only cos it's Michael's voice that it gets through to me. It's so not the kind of thing I usually like. But I love it. I'm not saying I hate ballads full stop. I do like some and I do like some singers who do this type of stuff. Andy Williams and Dean Martin are the two main ones that spring to mind. But this type of very old-fashioned ballad is not usually my kind of thing.

Vocally one of my fave performances, love the strings (maybe you don’t?)
Oh, the strings. I love backing vocals and string arrangements. Just love them. The string arrangements here are exquisite. Like something out of a Hollywood film from the 40's. Beautiful, perfect, understated. I had to go and see who did the string arrangements. Clare Fischer. Did a bit of digging and found this on some random fan forum:

"An uncommonly versatile musician, Fischer worked as a composer, arranger, conductor and pianist for more than 60 years.

He is best known for his arrangements for Prince, Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Branford Marsalis, Raphael Saadiq, Usher and Brandy.

Nominated for a Grammy 11 times in the Best Instrumental Arrangement category, Fischer won in 1986 for his album "Free Fall" and in 1981 for "Salsa Picante plus 2+2."

He worked as the arranger on Gillespie's "Jazz Portrait of Duke Ellington."

Fischer recorded 51 albums over his lifetime with his son Brent Fischer. The music ranges in style from jazz to salsa to symphonies.

"Clare Fischer was a major influence on my harmonic concept," Herbie Hancock is quoted as saying on Fischer's website."

Also that understated “yeah” at 3.48 don’t you love that? 🥰
The best part. I checked but didn't hear it on the record. But, god, yeah, it's awesome. The entire performance could just be that and I'd be happy. One of those moments where pure magic happens. The string arrangements are beyond perfect but this is *the* moment.

I kind of forgot I made this thread but it is good you bumped it because I was thinking about making it and it would have the exact same song choices again 🤣 So I guess these truly are my favorite tracks then!
:ROFLMAO:

Every time I read fan made lists like this (as in, not from music magazines or websites) I am delighted by the reminder that there are still SO many Michael Jackson songs for me to learn! Not only do I only know some of these in passing, but there are some I'm not sure I've ever heard at all. I almost want to make a playlist of these selections!

Anyway, the list was great and I love your little description of each one, especially the personal anecdotes you included. Some comments:

(I LIKE) THE WAY YOU LOVE ME
I've never actually heard of this, but that's probably because I have yet to listen to the Michael album at all. But I am so glad you wrote this because it does help me a lot to think about Michael finding some happiness toward the end of his life. It's so easy to get caught up in the sadness. It's the main reason I avoid any of his content after Blood on the Dance Floor (that's starting to change). Obviously the stuff in the mid-90s wasn't happy music, but he seemed empowered within that. Idk. Anyway, I just appreciate this and you made me curious about the song.

I can't even talk about this...

But the part I bolded, specifically about him getting embarrassed during the recording of it... that just sets my entire heart on fire. I love this man.

SCARED OF THE MOON
I also have no idea what this song is and now I need to. I feel like you may have mentioned it somewhere else too, but I don't remember.

WHO IS IT
This song is so devastatingly good. I will always remember the first time I heard it. It was in January when I first started listening to Michael. I had the Spotify shuffle on so I could learn new songs (it was also during this drive I heard TDCAU for the first time and it messed me UP). The sound of this song was unlike anything else I'd heard. And his voice, the extreme pain in his deliver, my GOD. I almost couldn't bear listening to it. Like, that's how hard I felt it. I listened to the whole thing and was just stunned by it. At the first "who is it" I felt like I got smacked in the face. I related so hard (and still do) to everything in this. This is one of those songs that I regret not knowing about 6 years ago when I desperately needed to know it. Sometimes I can't stand thinking about how much Michael could have helped save me from myself if only I had known him sooner...

Ugh. That's a different topic though. lol.

I am completely ****** obsessed with this song. I can (and have) listened to just it on repeat for hours, which is not something I typically do. It soars right through me. I want to celebrate every time I hear it. I only recently discovered it too. I think what you described about the joy and happiness of his music in the 80s is part of what made it so special.

ANOTHER PART OF ME

- Maybe not the most spectacular track but it such a fun tune, elevated by a mesmerizing live performance with Michael Jackson smiling and having fun and it is just Michael, no backup dancers necessary to party.
My first (of many) "favorite" Michael songs when I first started listening. His performance is the main reason I became obsessed. The way he smiles, he's like bursting at the seams with joy. It's incredible. But also I feel deeply connected to the lyrics of this song. They are contenders for whatever MJ tattoo I plan to get at some point. I feel this song so hard.

Love your list too!! Some comments:

2 - SIM - I don't think Michael's voice has ever been more beautiful.
"On and on and on it came and the rain and again and again". Brilliant lyric, stunning vocal delivery.
This song is PERFECT in absolutely every way.

And (I know for certain you will disagree with me on this lol) I love his live performances of it on the HIStory tour. Yes, I would 100% prefer live vocals. But something about the dancing he does at the intro and outro of the song, specifically, just floors me. I feel so moved by it. It's one of those songs I actually started to love because of seeing the performance! It is just so intimate and sexy, yet also sentimental, and pained. It's strange what it does to me. But it does a lot.

5 - Smile - there are other versions out there which I think have a better orchestration but Michael takes the prize for his vocal delivery. He sings the lyrics with feeling but with a light touch which is just right.
I wish to applaud you!! YES! I have heard many versions of this song, but Michael's shoots straight through my core. His delivery is actual perfection. This is such an underrated song.

13 - Speechless - his voice here sounds like a beautiful piece of crystal
YES YES YES. I only heard this song for the first time somewhat recently, but it is STUNNING. Your description is perfect.

18 - Morphine - a kick-ass rock song. Shocking, painful, beautiful. The layers in this song will keep me going for decades.
I've said this 1000 different times and in 1000 different ways, but this song is like being kicked in the teeth. It guts me. It's such a demonstration of his genius.

19 - Is It Scary - this is like an opera. The drama, the pain, the recovery at the end.
I LOVE your description. I never would have described it as an opera, but that is everything.

I’m gonna put this here, I have known the video for years but I never watched it thinking it wouldn’t be live but to my delighted surprise it was live. @zinniabooklover you will love the dancing, Little Randy gets to shine as well with his conga’s but for me the showstopper is Michael’s live rendition of “ got to be there”. He almost recreates his studio vocals here. Sonic perfection.
If you hear this, how can one not be excited for a release of a J5 concert on DVD? I wonder…

While we’re at it a rare live performance of cult r&b hit “all i do is think of you” the video seems to be shot with a potato but the sound is decent. I like the bittersweet lyrics of this song especially.

This is really good, we first have the brothers harmonizing a cappella on “let it be” followed by a fantastic rendition (and different arrangement) of “never can say goodbye”.
What’s really cool though is Michael’s voice, I hadn’t heard it this good in 1974 before as his voice was transitioning from 72 to 75

PS this is a double post, I also posted this the on fave video of the day thread but I figured to group them here because otherwise everything is so scattered around.

The fact that he was, what, 13 here?!?! His magnetism is UNREAL. It's truly like watching an enormously talented adult group with an incredible lead singer/dancer/showman, but they just so happen to be kids. I can't tolerate other kid acts in general. But watching/listening to them never feels like a kid act. It's mind blowing.

Also, I loooooved Randy's conga moment. His little bit of dancing and the drumming was just so adorable.

This is PHENOMENAL!!!

Noooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was blocking my view of Marlon. I need to see Marlon at all times. Marlon and Michael as a unit is my thing. Marlon and Michael and Jackie as a unit is my other thing. And Randy was getting in the way. Don't come between me and my guys! Just don't. Not if you value your life, lol.

Wait... who's Marlon??

JK 😂 that was cruel, I'm sorry... I know Marlon is your man!

Have finally caught up with this. Fabulous. Loved it. Really interesting harmonies. Didn't know this song. I'm glad I do now. Boiling hot over here which I hate but this helped.

Thank you so much for posting this. It's a gem. ❤️

I like grouping stuff together. So I'm posting this, don't know if it's already on the board somewhere else but it makes sense for it to be here, also. Could have done without the Danny Boy bit. Don't like the song, anyway, and singing is not Marlon's superpower, lol. But it's a cool piece of footage even so.

And another one. This one is a bit of a curate's egg - good in parts. The Marlon parts are a bit painful. Tito's little section is ... well, he tried. But Michael is luminous.

He does 2 sections:
1 - You've Got A Friend
2 - You and Me Against the World

Two of my fave songs from the 1970's. Michael slays them, obvs.

@zinniabooklover Your last post, well that's something I never heard or saw before, thanks! You've got a friend is also one of my favorite songs whoever sings it. They performed it live in 1972 on tour as well. Love Michael's performance as always.
Do you like Jackie's voice? I do

Ahhh thank you both for all of these! I can't wait to watch them. Not gonna lie, right now I'm obsessed with the Jackson 5. But last night I listened to about half of the "Maybe Tomorrow" album (only half because I was emotionally wrecked and couldn't finish it lol) and I was just screaming, inwardly and outwardly, the whole time at Michael's talent. His voice is INSANE. I know there are other aspects of the group that deserve praise and attention, but at this point I'm too singularly focused on Michael to acknowledge anyone else lol.

I love Jackie's voice. Always did. He's cooler than cool. Cute face. Good dancer. Great voice. Really good performer. Nowhere near Michael's league, obvs. Who is? No-one! But I think Jackie is great. Always love it when he gets to sing a solo bit.

'You've Got A Friend' - my fave version is the James Taylor version cos that's the one I grew up with but it's one of those songs that any good singer can do *something* with it. Carole King is such an awesome songwriter.

I love what Michael did here. A beautiful performance. Time stamp approx 1m 30s - this is what I mean about his performance being luminous. Just look at that face, his eyes, his facial expression. The whole way he expresses what he needs to for the song to come alive.

@zinniabooklover
Yes he is not just a singer, he performs and you really need to see it globally, the vocals obviously but also his facial expressions sell a performance and the moment you highlighted is a good example. At the end he just needs to stand up, he wants to move around. It reminds me of a jacksons clip I posted some months ago where they sit on stools performing destiny but when the musical outro kicks in Michael jumps up and starts dancing while his brothers remain seated.

@staywild23

Maybe tomorrow the song would be one of the magical songs we talked about on chat 2 days ago. It is a superb track… one of my favorites for sure.

I haven't really dug into that one yet. I'll get there. :D

I'm having such an interesting J5 / Jacksons moment just recently. All of this stuff that is new to me. If a song didn't get into the UK charts I didn't know about it. 'Push Me Away', for example, didn't even get released as a single in the UK. I didn't know about the albums and, tbh, would not have been very interested if I had known. And all of these amazing tv appearances. We didn't get most of this in the UK so it's like opening a treasure chest that's been hidden for decades. Fabulous!

I'm like a kid in a sweet shop, lol.

Yes, I agree. I love watching him straining to get up so he can really get into it. He really does NOT wanna be sitting down. Even if it's a slower song like You've Got A Friend you can see he wants to be up on his feet to give it everything he's got.

The way he uses his hands in this clip, same thing. He really wants to be up and moving.

This clip you posted a while back, it doesn't ring a bell. If you still have it could you post it again? No probs if you haven't got time or whatever. Maybe I should go and see if I can find it myself.

OK, sorry people, but I'm having a bit of a moment here. 18 minutes of magic that I have never seen before.

@filmandmusic - the first number they do, those outfits are the same ones they wore in that clip you posted a while back. From a European tv show, I think. Dutch? Belgian? Something like that. But this is a different performance, I'm sure of it. I haven't watched that one for a few weeks. I need to to go back and re-acquaint myself with it.

Update - yes, it's two different tv appearances. The other one was Musikladen in 1977. I can't post it here, seems Facebook wants me to create an account if I want to share it - which isn't gonna happen. Doesn't matter, it's on Page 4 of Fave Videos. Courtesy of filmandmusic. Awesome!

2nd update - costumes not exactly the same as the Musikladen ones. Similar but different. Michael in pale blue? Fabulous!
