Hot topic What unreleased demos and remixes do you think will be on Thriller 40 Disc 2?

I wish they include WBSS, Billie Jean and The Lady In My Life extended / 12# versions.
Also, I wish they put video mix version of the song Thriller - the refrain doesn't hit right away but way later after some damn good instrumental. I remember when I was a kid and when I saw Thriller video for the first time, I wondered why the hell there's no audio of the video mix available on any audio support.

Actually I had the same wish for Smooth Criminal video with extra phrases, TWYMMF video too, and many other videos. I was frustrated (and still am) not to have them officially released on audio support and in excellent quality of course.

Agree. Video versions would be a cool track list filler, and something id rather have than a PYT pit bull remix.

God i would love a mix that resembles the Video of Thriller too.

Also, i don't know if this works for you, but Nick* made a really good recreation of the Smooth Criminal video mix, i personally love it.

Also - I understood it like they would drop releases over a period of time.

Like - fx on his birthday Billie Jean musicvideo i 4K (if that's even possible) - a week later Beat It. - Then a month prior to the release a single.

Thriller and The Making of Thriller in 4K around Halloween.

Whitney Houston's Higher Love was a very successful remix recently
 
I don’t expect this to be a blockbuster release. Everyone has the Thriller album. Since the release is in November, I expect it will kick off around Halloween with the release of Thriller and the video in HD. I mean they cannot pass up the opportunity to release the video then.

I think they will. Featuring the making of remastered from 35mm
 
I think they will release Thriller and Making Thriller this or next year because they already made the 4K versions of both. I also think that a duet version with The Weeknd or Kendrick Lamar will be released since they both made MJ related posts since the announcement of Thriller 40 via social media.

We know they have Thriller in 4K - so it would make no sense with a 40th anniversary release without releasing the most important musicvideo ever made. - I do not know if The Making of Thriller was filmed on tape or film - but I really hope it's possible to convert it to 4K.

If we get Thriller and The Making of Thriller in UHD T40 will already be a great release - no matter what's on disc 2.

Making Thriller was shown in 4K in 2017 so they already have that

Ah - I missed that. - But if we know for sure they have converted The Making of Thriller into 4K, I see absolutely no logical reason to not release both Thriller musicvideo and The Making of Thriller when releasing a 40th anniversary release.
 
Dropping Thriller 4K on YouTube on Halloween is a no brainer, but then again this is the MJ Estate we're talking about so who knows... 🤷‍♂️
 
still hope for a blu-ray release, but since the Estate wanted to release HWT on Netflix, I think we get it on streaming only

Hopefully they will drop it a week before halloween to built up exitement etc.

I am old-fashioned so I would like a Blu-Ray/ UHD 4k release - but I think they will only release it on streaming.
 
I am really hoping the estate have multiple things planned and announced on Michael's Birthday. Michael and his family and family of fans deserve that. I think I heard the Taj will announce stuff then too.
 
With the talk of releasing the 4K Thriller video and making of documentary, does anyone know if all the legal issues with John Landis got settled? I remember discussion a few years ago about it, and how that might be whats holding up and actual release IIRC? I can't remember how all that ended up.

Wasn't the Girl Is Mine demo previously released on This Is It's soundtrack album? I'm tempted to say the same for Got the Hots, but I remembered it wasn't released outside the Japanese version of Thriller 25.
