The property failed to make it suitable for halloween thriller 4k i'm afraid thriller40 won't be better than thriller25

I would still argue it is. Even with all the dropped balls and failures, Thriller 40 is still giving us a better and more interesting selection of content than Thriller 25 did. (Plus, NO REMIXES!)

Let's learn about restoration to film (in regards to MJ 1983-2001)
Films from 1918-1950 are being restored but A MICHAEL JACKSON PROJECT COST BILLIONS & AN ETERNITY let the estate tell us!🙄

There's no excuse to why we don't have his shorts in 4k in 2022 by now leading into 2023! Mj is the still the top dead artist of the year after not even being here since 2009 & they sit back & make millions & billions a year & we fight & fight for things only to get 1 tracklist name a week for the 40th anniversary of the biggest selling album.

Restoring the videos shouldn't be a problem for the estate people, but they don't think it's necessary because they get enough money a year for sales and mj one show mj musical

Rock with you and Don't stop 'til you get enough would be a strange choice, as they were shot on tape. I hope they'll be real remasters and not some 4k upscale.

those two would definetally be AI-enhanced, similar to Eminem's videos or Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.

the other shorts will hopefully be 16/35mm scans.

Why would they restore it, they rack up the numbers by the millions on youtube without them being restored. Restoring won’t accelerate that viewing growth I think. For me it is not important but many of you seem to care, so I hope it happens anyway lol

My thoughts…

Billie Jean
Beat It
Thriller
Billie Jean Motown 25
The Girl Is Mine (Studio Footage) 🤞🏽

To get and preserve the most iconic musicvideos ever made should be of the upmost importance for all MJ fans.

Also - if you don't have seen the videos for the last 30 years, young people do not wanna see ugly YT videos on their 65" screen. They want 4K sharp picture.

Where did the info about 5 videos come from?

I hope we get the trailer today. :)

While I have been looking forward to 4k releases, I didn't really see them as a TOP priority. That is until last night.

Last night I watched a fan-made Smooth Criminal 4k video and OMG. When I tell you it almost felt like the first time watching it again... I can't even describe how excited I was. I was noticing so many details I have never really picked up on before. And I have seen Smooth Criminal an insane amount of times. I was freaking out. It was SO GOOD.

So now I am officially ridiculously pumped for the 4k videos and understand the hype around them. I can't wait!

I don't understand this either. I'm not really up with all the technical stuff, though. 🤔

Yeah I simply don’t get it. i’m perfectly capable of watching the videos the way they are. I grew up watching VHS tapes maybe I’m used to grainy looking stuff I don’t know. It is not something that gets me excited. I know these videos by heart already.

Anyway if it makes you all happy then I am all for it. The timing doesn’t matter much I think, it is not a big enough event, it happens when it happens.

the youtube videos are actually in WORSE condition then the vhs tapes you used to watch, due to a huge amount of noise reduction and compression.

I'll give you a very intuitive example:
Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"

1987 film-to-tape master (source: 2001 "Whitney: The Greatest Hits" DVD):

Hope you get it now ;)

I see it but for me the difference isn‘t vital. The picture in the yellow room is big improvement though but Whitney she looks great in both pictures 😁

It's undeniable that a fresh scan from the original negatives brings out detail not present on the tape masters, making it look sharper and having more accurate colors.
The difference is vital imo as it breathes new life into these iconic short films. Also, some tape masters have errors in them. Billie Jean has film artifacts in some frames which were only cleaned up in 2010 for Vision, for instance.

Lets hope they do a good job restoring the videos then. 🙂
Thenthere is at least that annoyance that the fans can cross off their (endless) list 🤭
