Hot topic What unreleased demos and remixes do you think will be on Thriller 40 Disc 2?

Thanks for the info, guys.

So, to add to this discussion: do you think the version of the song on the album is the same as the one on the cassette at the copyright office?
I am not entirely sure, to be honest. I would wager that it is, because I am not aware of any other version of it. I do find it odd that the estate blurb places the date as 1980, whilst the copyright for it lists 1981. Then again, the copyright dates have been slightly off, before.

The Estate, not Sony. Branca and McClain decide what material makes the albums; Sony more or less throws in their two cents.
What I meant by my post was Sony's earlier efforts to rissue the Jackson's albums. The Estate may own Michael's stuff, but that doesn't mean the brother's own masters aren't completely owned by Sony. Especially when it comes to Victory, the subject of my post.

OK. I am going to put it straight to you! If you don't want anymore demos , unreleased songs , other projects as fans of Michael then don't support this! Your fault as I have said all along if you THIEVED Michael's songs before they got officially released.
Make no mistake though that if the number 1 album of all time anniversary project fails this sends a message to the estate as the fans/public are not interested in Michael as much anymore and they may well not do anything for another huge amount of time.

If people are going to boycott or not support this even to get some songs in full good quality then you only have yourselves to blame if nothing else comes.
I mean I am really looking forward to this as its nearly a full album of mostly new songs for me.
I can tell you now Michael did not always get it right, and some fans saying that some fan events etc are rubbish etc ! Well if Michael was still with us you would NOT be there! Only Celebs! So be grateful!

Maybe you're overreacting. How about a cuppa? Let's chill.

I'll speak for myself now: I'm one who listened to the leaked tracks thousands of times and would still love to see them in here as I particularly think it'd be a quality upgrade. This argument of the leaked tracks is bollocks and everyone who complaned they could be here is just bored with their own lives because yes, it is not the Estate's fault the songs leaked.
Furthermore, although I can kinda understand the reasons why SD and CGOTR are here, I'm still 150% pissed about it. Not me nor anyone else has to support their stupid choices because people think we have to play by their rules in order for things to happen. We are the fans and customers.

Also I'm from Brazil and would buy the album for the bonus disc, but guess what? It seems that it won't be issued here (no pre-order listings anywhere until now).

I'm also happy some new stuff is getting released, but we're not beggars asking for some change.

Are you ever gonna post something on here that isn't lecturing people? You've posted this same post like 5 times now. Your logic is baffling and the holier-than-thou attitude stinks. If the estate wants fans to buy stuff or praise them for what they're doing then maybe they should put some effort into things and not act like they're operating out of a shack in the desert.

I wish the tracklisting was better, but do you actually think we’d get anything close to this if Michael was alive? He’d veto the whole damn thing.

I’m just happy we are getting new music.
The sad reality.

It’s far from a perfect reissue, and I have more than a couple issues with it, but all things considered I think it’s a solid collection that’s worth the money they’re asking for.

I dunno, there's really no excuse for there being already released songs on there imo. Throw a couple of album track demos on there instead and this reissue would have been absolutely fine for me. (also I don't really consider the whole "MJ wouldn't have released anything if he was alive" thing valid as he's not and the estate are choosing to release this stuff to make money, not as some kind of gift to fans)

Still, I'm excited to check out the unheard stuff and hear trouble (hopefully the finished version) in hq through streaming when it's released

The absolute lack of promo is insane to me. They’ve not done anything. At all. It’s crazy.
This is not true. The boss himself is on Tiktok 😁

You're not a real fan if you don't follow John Branca on Tiktok and think 3fps 4k Beat It is impressive

i think it was showed beat it at that framerate to deter anyone from leaking the footage early as its going to be thrown out around the world for the next eek.

If they took notes from other releases and followed that formula then Thriller 40 would have been a killer box set. KISS and Queen both have super deluxe editions coming out the same day as Thriller 40 and just mops the floor with it on just content alone.

It's 40. They didn't really have to do anything since 50 is the more important number. They certainly held stuff back for that. We're getting 4 songs we've never heard before.

The Estate is frustrating but these songs in the vault are not the big money makers for them and at the end of the day, while their might be some good unreleased songs in the vault, they never made an album for a reason.

Michael gave us Thriller 25...

The truth is he'd probably be retired, no follow up to Invincible. And he might've canceled This Is It too. Hopefully we'd have at least gotten 1 Show to Blu-Ray. MJ really didn't care about his old old songs. I'd hope he'd pick some of the best of the best and make some new and create a final HIStory-tier record, but who knows. Maybe he'd also love the state of music now. He'd have all sorts of quality artists to keep him entertained and inspired.

I dunno, considering he was working on music, accepting submissions from songwriters for a new record, and was working on classical music, I think he'd probably have released something else.

I doubt that he was actually going to retire after TII, reminder that he said that there was gonna be no tours after the Bad tour and look at how that turned out. Maybe he was gonna retire from touring but I think he'd be making albums and one time shows if he was alive nowadays.

I'm glad we will get to hear some brand new songs.
And I'm glad this project will most likely fail.

I completely disagree seeing how he'd rework on songs for over 20 years, The Toy and Best Of Joy are the prime examples.
I didn't intend you to disagree. Of course MJ archived all of his stuff, and would consult prior material. Still, depending on your criteria, arguably it wasn't that much stuff that would make the final album listings. Take HIStory for example. Earth Song & TDCAU, and Little Susie, Come Together, those songs had history, but songs like Scream and This Time Around, D.S, were newer. Also, Invincible ended up with a lot of recent material. Like in every release, some material would have had a long history already, but a lot of it was often made more recently in the specific album making process.

I didn't elaborate but when I said I'd hope he bring the best of the best, I meant songs like Best of Joy. I'm sure he'd pick some vintage tracks and also work with current producers/songwriters to make material in the current time period. But never would he ever make an album of nothing but BAD or Thriller outtakes, or even really throwbacks like that at all, at least I think. That seemed to be the way he worked based on patterns.
