Thriller 40th Anniversary

I still attest that in terms of bang for your buck and featured material, it’s still the best Thriller reissue by a country mile. Two brand-new songs, two early cuts of previously released songs, two leaked tracks in high(er) quality, two stunning 4K short film restorations, and decent album packaging. I’ll reach for this before Thriller 25 or the 2001 SE any day.

As far as sound quality goes though, this is a shameful embarrassment and disgrace to contemporary audio standards, much less MJ’s catalog.

We need to spam his comments on every video...I really see lucifer when i look at that monster!

Iirc Serban did the surround mix in the mid 2000s that got cancelled cause MJ didn't like it. Could it be that same one?

Mick tells a different story, he says it was scrapped because of the allegations.

Into 2002 and in the middle of mixing “Beat It,” Guzauski got another call from Sony. “They put a hold on it,” he reports, “and said, ‘We don’t know if we’re going to finish it.’ They said they’d restart it several times, but the last time was in 2004, when I got a call saying, ‘We want to finish Thriller. What would it cost?’ Two hours later, it came on the news that Michael’s Neverland ranch had been raided for a second time. That’s the last I heard about it.”

We hope you enjoy the official WBSS (lyric) video. Make sure you watch it in 4K, we make sure to give the best possible quality, in this case, to make you feel you are reading the lyrics for the very first time. No need to thank us.

Did the Estate forgot they are dropping an album today? Nothing on social media about it lol.
I can (probably) see how their stance is on this. Michael is not from a world of Instagram, FaceBook, TikTok or Tweets...
His body of work is beyond social media, I think they are saying he and his art is worldwide known already so heavy promotion is hardly needed. I got a "quiet" email which i thought was quite classy. it's already sold out on Amazon...and thriller 4k (now on YouTube) looks fantastic. The title and presentation of the album says it all to be fair..

I was unable to pick this up in-store in the U.S. today. None of the "big 3" stores (Target, Walmart, Best Buy) have this on their shelves.

Somebody a few pages ago suggested that the estate was using this project to test the public reaction to new MJ material.

If so, as dumb of a decision as I think it is, it seems to be a resounding success. T40 is doing great numbers on streaming services, physical copies are sold out (though that may be due to the lackluster distribution), the 4K videos have gotten a lot of attention, and there has been little to no commentary from anti-MJ naysayers. There’s still a public appetite for new MJ material. I just hope the estate takes that fact and does better next year.

It seems they have botched the launch. Someone on another forum said none of their local stores have it, they said they asked target and they said it hadn't even been delivered yet and they don't know when it will arrive. Walmart apparently said they are expecting deliveries on Tuesday.

CDs here in the US use to always be released on Tuesdays. When did it get changed to Fridays?
