Thriller 40th Anniversary

For anyone upset about the delays on the pre-orders, let me remind you of Eric Cartman's wise words on pre-ordering things (just switch "games" for "albums" in this case, but you'll get the point).

It is good to see John representing Michael's legacy on the TikTok platform. Many , many new fans will arise from the simplicity of this. I hope that every short film & tours released or re-leased can always be in 4K cause 4K is made for Michael!
I don't have problems with the Tiktok videos either. They are not bad.

There is this video that people say used to air on MTV for WBSS and was an official video.

Anyone have any more info on it?

I remember seeing this in better quality like 10+ years ago online. Isn't this technically the official WBSS video?

Hm. I read the pinned comment for this video but, ngl, I find it hard to believe this was any kind of official release. I don't remember seeing this thing at the time but that's not conclusive. It's more the awfulness of the video and the non-existent production values. Why would Michael go from the production values and budget for BJ and Beat It to this? Michael, in the 1980's, had business smarts as well as impeccable artistic talent. That pinned comment is very clear that they saw this thing. OK, fine. It was broadcast somewhere in the world. That doesn't make it 'official', imo.

I only got halfway through the thing. It was so goddamn awful I had to take a break.

This isn't official. No way. I'm not buying it.

EDIT - just watched another 60 seconds. I don't believe it. Not for one single second. This couldn't possibly be official. Just to be clear, I'm not having a go at you. It's an interesting little mystery, I suppose, what with that pinned comment and all. All I'm saying is, if this really is an official Michael Jackson video - FROM THE 1980's - I'll eat my hat.*

*N.B. I never wear hats. :ROFLMAO:

I don’t know if atmos mixes can be ripped. I suspect that Apple Music has some proprietary stuff going on.

This is great because I can’t stream atmos via airplay2 on my sound bar.

I can (probably) see how their stance is on this. Michael is not from a world of Instagram, FaceBook, TikTok or Tweets...
His body of work is beyond social media, I think they are saying he and his art is worldwide known already so heavy promotion is hardly needed. I got a "quiet" email which i thought was quite classy. it's already sold out on Amazon...and thriller 4k (now on YouTube) looks fantastic. The title and presentation of the album says it all to be fair..
Still waiting for my pigeon carrying my T40 newsletter 🤭 But I know what you mean :ROFLMAO: I assume that not many younger people are REALLY involved in all these projects. I imagine it like my father would try to lead all this projects, so everything makes sense LMAO

It also reminds of me the gaming industry, where you have all these people leading projects that are not gamers themselves. Of course everything turns out awful

I'm definitely thinking that the joke I made about Sony and the estate falling out because Branca wanted his face on the album cover instead of MJ's is 100 percent true after watching his Tiktoks, lol.

Why is the month the documentary is releasing in being announced on his personal Tiktok???
I made so many jokes about a Branca biopic coming out, this is getting more and more a reality with every day.

On the surface the doc will be about Michael, but then all these random people no one cares about will give their opinions on MJ, how they grew up seeing him on the TV or how they enjoyed working with him, that he was a nice dancer that sometimes he wrote a song or two. And the most intense part of this doc will be, when Branca talks about his business relationship with Michael. Showing pictures of Michael being at his wedding, both bonding by wanting to be the biggest in the business, breaking all records with insane deals!

Then this doc will start showing the dark parts in Michael's life, how he fucked up everything and how people in his life, LIKE BRANCA AND CO tried to save him. They will torture us with at least 5 minute footage of the day Michael died and people giving their opinions on that. Where were you when Michael died? Why was it Michael's own fault?

And then it's time again, Branca starts talking about randomly finding Michael's will in his desk and thinking "at least Michael's legacy will be in good hands now" and then the true magic BEGINS!

jk :alien:

Or they could just make an official MJ account and post on there. Kinda sick of them trying to make it about themselves.

Did someone notice the distortion on the S-sounds on the Atmos version of Human Nature? Its what is referred to as sibilance that can be heard on Vinyl records. Rest of the mix is pretty good, i maybe would have liked some more bass going to the sub.
Listened to this on a 7.1 system, so i did not get to hear the height channels from Atmos but seemed pretty good.

I just realized that the rumors of the multitrack to “Baby Be Mine” being damaged/ruined were proven false by the creation of the Dolby Atmos mix. Thank goodness.
It could still be true that the original multitrack tapes got ruined, doesn't mean they weren't digitized in the past.
They aren't mutually exclusive things, both can be true.

i pointed this out early today but ya'll ignored me xD

That’s true, but a lot of the discourse implied that there was absolutely nothing usable from them, digital or otherwise.

Thanks for the insight. I don't think it's something MJ himself approved. The old upload of it from youtube mentioned something like it was made by Sony Music Australlia. So it technically is official? No idea if that's true or not.
