Um, wend, I thought you liked the 4K? I thought it was just me who doesn't like Thriller 4K.

I'm confused.

Problematic? Nah, I'm fine with it. I often do prefer demos to the final version, though. Not sure why but there's something so magical about them.
Same, I always preferred the demos. I'm also a PYT demo lover, the probably most problematic heretic of the heretics.

Yeah It is raw and the creativity is flowing from the artist, It is nice to hear in earphones- Michael demos works so well for that. He always has been fantastical in his demos. Fall again... all of those.
A demo is nice and not too intrusive. Intrusive is a leak to me thats when i feel bad. I definitely prefer the demos too. It is raw yet the magic is still preserved.

Well I was thinking about this , and i thought about it very hard. It does look spectacular and Michael is beautiful you can not take your eyes off the screen yes but after watching it a few times(try 30) the story is not the same. i'm seeing stuff i shouldn't be . Something about it ,and I will have to say the original will carry more atmosphere And above all, it is not the finished version he saw in his art.

That is definitely part of it. The producer isn't involved yet or only minimally. There isn't a big 'production' all around the song yet.

I do think I've noticed something different about Michael demos compared to others I've heard over the years. We're on a whole other level.

Before Friday I don't think I had ever knowingly listened to a leaked item. But I don't feel bad about it. Not at all. If anything I'm feeling freakin' bolshie!

I definitely prefer the demos too. It is raw yet the magic is still preserved.
I don't prefer the demo every time but often I do. They def capture something special. The final version can gain a lot but it always loses something, as well.

er ... 😶‍🌫️

this is the problem I have. For Thriller 4K (haven't watched Beat It bar the first few seconds) the spookiness is all gone. All the terror and fright, all the atmosphere, all the night-time darkness and eerieness and whatever - all gone. Tbf, I only watched twice bc that's all I could stand but ... nah, not for me. Everyone else seems to be pleased so that's really great but it's not for me.

And above all, it is not the finished version he saw in his art.
This I don't know about. How much variation did they create with the lighting etc? I guess we'll never know. Unless someone asks John Landis or the director of photography the right questions. Who was in charge of lighting the set? Can someone interview them about stuff?

I'm not sure if we'll ever know what Michael's exact preferences were since no-one ever bothered to properly interview him about his work. Or so it seems to me.

I don't understand the wait on anything anymore. everything is filtered... for what reason?

Many of us here, we have 40 ...50 and 60 years....how many more years do you plan to wait? 20 more years? At 80 years old, do you want to listen to Tomboy ?
(if they reach 80 years) and how is the world going... if civilization arrives...

life is very short, we already wait many years (since MJ's death, the clock began to count , and it's been more than a decade.
The more the years go by, the more value these melodies lose, which the new generations will no longer even know, and will not value like us... the fans who saw MJ in his best years.

It's too late to wait for MJ's "glory", we only have to filter as much as possible... and enjoy it now... tomorrow will be too late... look how many fans have passed that never got to hear what we hear today. Mj is no longer with us & I just....(sigh)
The ending to your post .....I know. This is such a horrible subject and your post is truthful yet painful cause i know i will never get to listen to any dangerous 40, D50, D100 (and you can forget about any invincible )demos etc but what if they do release everything? We will be happy , be elated... then what ? What will the future fans listen to?. What will they have? We will have literally wiped Michael off the planet by being selfish then. Its not about us .

Well we will never know unless John Landis speaks about his experience and even so, even though i value John's opinion/storys/ memories ...Its not Michael's.
That's the thing zin , if only, oh ...if only those interviewers and the media when they had their chance to ask about his art would have done that we might be a bit more sure now - they were not interested in the good stuff and now we will always be wondering . Thriller was never in 3D was it ? so Michael maybe didn't agree with that stuff or maybe he did .The question will always remain open.

I really wouldn't want to watch Remember the Time in 4K i know that much. ...ironicly, i would very much like to gawp at it -
I think It is the story line against the beauty , most people will make their choice as the second ..its a double edged sword here.

Also there is no mist in Thriller 4k if that makes sense.
Okay back to being one of Michael's Starlights. on the positive thread!

I'm too tired to look this up but I think it was. It had a one-week cinema release (cannot remember the year) in various locations and I'm sure it was 3D. Plus, don't forget, the TII stuff for Thriller was going to be in 3D. They had the glasses. There's that shot of Travis and Stacey wearing them. So I think Michael was totally up for 3D. He was always interested in tech advances as far as I can tell.

But, for sure, it's all so frustrating bc we'll never know so many things bc idiot people couldn't be bothered to ask.

Sigh.

Thriller 3D, here is a thread. Haven't read it - 16 pages! - but from the first few posts I looked at it does seem as if Thriller did make it into 3D. I was pretty sure it had.

I'm not necessarily suggesting you should actually read this thread - 16 pages! - I'm just posting on an FYI basis:

Its why i direct and blame my anguish and sorrow to the people who could have used their time constructively with him , if they wanted to . Ms Winfrey im looking at you 😟😔They were all such slugs n leeches. asking dumb questions now we are the ones looking dumb.
Actually John Landis could really be our starlight here ...a glimmer of hope maybe? ...if John has a twitter , does he? Is he on social media ?If so Could someone maybe ask John Landis all those questions which zinnia and i wonder here, and what he thinks of What Michael might have thought of the 4K? revelation. JOHN, THE FANS NEED YOU !!🙌
zin youve got a brilliant point here. thankyou @zinniabooklover

Oh no, I wasn't necessarily suggesting that people try to contact John Landis via social media or any other way. I think if he wanted to talk about this stuff he's had plenty of opportunity to do so over the years. He has been interviewed about Thriller but if he wanted to say more he certainly could do so. He could even have written something by now. Has he? I'm not aware of anything.

Personally, I don't think we'll get anything unless and until an academic somewhere gets the funding and the time to do some proper research into various aspects of Michael's career. For example, if someone wrote a proper, accurate history of pop music videos, they could do a whole chapter just on Thriller and do a really thorough job of it, looking at all of these things, the pros and cons of 4K etc. I'm not holding my breath, though.

They just released thriller for 100th time... I have my original, Japanese, thriller 2001, thriller 25, thriller sacd, thriller 40.....6COPIES OF THE SAME ALBUM. Trust me! nobody will miss out on anything. We've seen thriller for 40years in the same crappy quality & I've read several comments including myself of ppl crying as if they had seen it for the 1st time. So for future fans & new kids that still discover him for the 1st time on tiktok & youtube will still have the same impact. Mj is gone so idk why would the public to keep expecting new music for the next 20-40years from now. There is no new elvis music from my knowledge from the past 20 or 30years. Mj will always be well preserved & even without promotion...mj is still doing numbers & being shown everywhere. It's his own estate that's trying really hard imo tearing down his legacy. It's not about being selfish. If the general public gave a damn like we do then they'll be in this forum as well instead of saying how cute he was & how they love him. I'm starting to think they are bots as well because it's like that only in his comment sections. But back to subject...they will have plenty to discover. I do kids parties all the time & still can't fathom the thought of how they know him & have the effect he does & why the parents even hired me.

@wonderouzmj Each time I see you perform I notice the same thing, you're really good at spinning the MJ way! Most impersonators do just one spin but you do multiple spins effortlessly, really cool to see.

Good post as well, I especially like your last sentence. How often do you entertain people? Is it always for kids only?

I think these immersive experiences are probably the best thing about this release campaign. they’re so innovative and represent the visionary that Michael was.

to interact with the ‘billie jean’ video would be a dream come true for me 💜 unfortunately, I can’t attend these events for many reasons that are all personal 😔 I am living through these vlogs from fans that did though 🤩

I might try out that ‘billie jean’ filter later on..

times are changing, yet michael’s work continues to resonate with new generations. his legacy is set in stone. this is an exciting time for me.

I think that ‘starlight’ is a futuristic concept with a positive message. love the harmonies at the closing. always likened it to an early ‘captain eo
